We've been talking for a few years about getting it restored. Upholsterers say, "You'd be better off just buying a new one" but we couldn't find one we liked. Arnold, his Dad, and their upholsterers REBUILT our chair and recovered it, mostly in leather. The patterned fabric covers the back too. And they repaired the mechanicals and re-finished the legs. We had agreed that if one hide wasn't enough to cover everything that we would use that fabric for the back and the WINGS on the sides. When they came back and said that still wasn't going to be enough and recommended the sides under the arms, I balked at first. I said the fabric was supposed to be an ACCENT if we HAD to. I felt like this was too much. 1/2 the chair was now fabric. But it was going to add ~$300 for a 2nd hide and my wife thought it would be OK so I relented. I'm glad I did. I don't think this is too much.   It IS as comfy as we had hoped. The mechanism is like silk. It feels good. It SMELLS good. Probably good for another 30 years!

I had two hardwood doors that had been painted over on the outside that I wanted to be stripped…read moreback to the hardwood and re-stained. This was a pretty challenging job. I got several bids, and even though Dallas Door Refinishing was the highest (not way over, but they were high) - I decided to go with them as they still use a strong, gel based paint remover. Misty and her crew arrived on time, did the work, and I was very pleased with the final results. Even in places where the wood was damaged / embedded with primer paint in the pores that could not be fully removed, they got it sanded down as close as possible and used a darker gel based stain to blend in with the overall new stain. It all worked out great in the end. I recommend these folks to anybody looking to get their doors done right. Now for small ding, and this has nothing to do with the actual work itself. I do wish Misty and her crew would wear masks to protect themselves against the fumes of the paint remover, the dust from sanding, and the fumes from the new stains and protecting overcoats. All work was done outside in the open air, so that helps - but of course they are working in close contact with the door surface. I am sure they are pro's and know what they are doing... but if its me, I'm wearing a respirator.

I had 16 doors and drawers - all were in differing stages of refinishing as I had tried to strip the layers of paint (there were at least 5 different layers of paint on top of varnish) and sand them. All of the doors had numerous tiny spots and thin lines of embedded paint trapped in crevices - impossible for an amateur to get out, but Steven was able to remove every spec of paint from the doors and drawers and then stain and finish the wood to my desired color and sheen requirements - he did an amazing job! Steven is a thoughtful and gifted craftsman who can take practically any piece of painted furniture and transform it into a beautiful piece. If you live in the DFW area, this is the guy to do your refinishing!
