Finally quality spa services in queens!! I went here a few days ago for what I thought would be a quick eyebrow wax treatment and in the end, I received far more than that!! While the prices weren't by any means cheap, the services rendered more than justified the price. If you're expecting and looking for a hit and run treatment this isn't it. My experience started with a little facial analysis and prep, followed by the actual waxing. When I say she was thorough, I mean she came at me with a magnifying glass and miners headgear. The treatment ended with her putting some skin repair ointments on. My skin is very sensitive and in the past I've walked out of other places looking burned and beaten. I think I owe Amy my first born child. I'm usually the type to be very frugal with myself, but I was in desperate need of a day of self-care and decided to treat myself. When it comes to my hygiene I'm very particular about where I go, so I went down the rabbit hole of Yelp and landed on Simple Skin Spa. I wanted an appointment for the next day, Friday, but there were only evening appts available. I called and they accommodated me for a 1:45pm appointment. There's only 3 rooms so it books quickly. I arrived 15 minutes prior as requested. (Parking was surprisingly easy and the receptionist also offered to add money to my meter if necessary) I filled out the paperwork and was then taken to the bathroom to change into a robe and slippers. I sat in the lounge area to wait for Amy; very relaxing and peaceful. At exactly 1:45pm Amy took me into the room. I booked the first time facial (recommended to all first-timers) so she gave me a thorough analysis of my skin and recommended the classic facial and asked if I was okay with the price and choice. She was very knowledgeable and informative; she takes her time with you, makes you glow, and you'll leave feeling light as feather (also, her skin is #goals). I loved their products, which all smell delicious btw because they're all natural and made with fruits, and she didn't impose their products either. The bed kind of swallows you whole because it's the best thing you'll ever lay down on while having a treatment done - I think it was heated. They are also very thorough over the phone when they prepare you for your appointment. So if you're calling and can't get through, just be patient and keep trying. I had my facial on March 30 and my skin is literally still glowing, my skin tone is more even and feels much more hydrated. Like I said, I'm pretty sure I owe her my first born child. All in all a great spa, loved the ambience and the services that I got there, a nice addition to the neighborhood and a place where you could get some good quality service. I think it would be great if they could have more often promotions. I was expecting at least for the holidays to get some emails from this spa regarding some hard to resist offers. The 10% off when referring a friend was rather disappointing considering most places offer this throughout the year as an incentive on bringing new customers. While I love this spa, I am starting to look more into other places as well solely for the fact that they have monthly specials making the experience more fun and allowing me to keep some cash in my pocket and therefore be able to book my next appointment sooner. read more

I sent my mom and grandma here for a new relaxing massage place. They loved the environment and the front desk was very welcoming. They both had their massages with Naomi who was super professional. My grandma got 60 minutes and my mom got 60 minutes as well (even though she paid for 90 minutes. When she asked about the minutes, the front desk didn't acknowledge her question and still charged her for the 90 minute massage. We would have really appreciated not being charged for 90 minutes when she only got 60, especially when it's fairly expensive. It was perfect because it was close to our house, but since we got charged for an extra 30 minutes my mom didn't get, I don't think she'll be coming back read more

The spa is a GEM. I had my eyebrows cleaned up and a Classic Facial with Crystal. I told her about my sporadic horror stories with my eyebrows, which have been left either too thin or misshaped or one longer than the other, and let her know I prefer a thicker brow but shaped, of course. She listened and I left with the best brows I have had in months. The Classic Facial is perfectly priced, and the massage is AMAZING. I received compliments on my complexion for days following the facial. I tend to have a lot of redness and she recommended certain products for me to try. (And I am not talking about the spa's products they offer, I am talking about stuff you can buy at Duane Reade that worked like magic.) She also really cares about her clients. I've been going to Crystal for 2 years now. She is absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable. The place is clean, friendly, and relaxing. Crystal initially analyzed my face, with in depth detail, and then suggested specific facials and peels to my skin type. My skin looked better instantly and stayed that way. My massage therapist, Naomi, was really great, gave a very relaxing massage. She asked which areas to focus on before hand and spent extra time on those. All women day spa in the local area. I always passed by this when I was walking around, and thought "what a cute storefront". Once inside, you are greeted by the girl at the tiny front desk. it seems small but airy and spacious at the same time. They did some really smart decorating overall , with bright walls, simple, yet elegant furniture. Two seats by the front window to sit and fill out your form if you're a first timer. In the hallway is where all the rooms are -- I believe there are 3 treatment rooms and one bathroom (the's the first door on your left through the hallway). The door is always open and the light on if no one's inside, so it's super easy to tell if it's occupied. None of this cautiously or hesitantly knocking and wondering if you're interrupting someone's dump. ****Bathroom is very clean -- on the bench are a couple of robes folded up, green slippers that are comfy, and a small straw like tote bag to carry your belongings to the small row of wood lockers in the hallway. Have a tray of towels to dry your hands with. A candle sits on the sink. Nice ambiance on top of the dim cozy lighting. The waiting area is super cozy looking as well...as if you were heading to your own living room: -Brick wall to one side, with shelves with magazines, fruit/mint flavored water, glass cups, tea cups, and herbal peppermint tea -An L shaped sofa -An outdoor area with lounge chairs and long benches to lay on. I could probably doze off there and not be discovered till closing time. ****Robes are big, and lined on the inside. I think they feel great on a winter day, but in the summer, I was feeling very hot and sweaty in a few minutes. ****Treatment rooms have the same basic and simple style as the entire establishment -- light or white walls, the bed you lay on (facials and reflexology) your legs are raised and elevated. Not sure about the other massages. A hook on the wall to hang your robe, and a classy chair in the corner for anything else. During my treatments, I barely heard any noise other than their nature machine. Grand Avenue can have a lot of passing traffic, especially trucks, but I heard none of it! I was pleasantly surprised. I did hear the stomping footsteps of another worker who happened to be such a tiny woman, but that's about it, Lol. ****Reflexology and Hot Oil Scalp treatment with Naomi: The description said "for tired legs and feet" but she focused mainly on my feet. Pressure could have been harder, to work out more of the tired aches. It almost felt similar to a calf and foot lotion massage. It was relaxing, I think I caught myself snoring about 5 times -- no joke. ****Summer rescue facial with Crystal: Super sweet, smart, and informative girl who really knows her stuff without being arrogant or a know-it-all. Very calm demeanor as she asked me questions like if I was pregnant, had botox, personal stuff that she needed to double check. For my Classic Facial, she wouldn't even do it because I had a slight sun burn and didn't want to risk harming my skin. So I would either take off then and there, or take one of their other facial treatments that was safe to do on sun burned skin. I appreciated her firmness and unwillingness to do damage just to make a buck. I decided to go with the summer rescue facial instead thinking I was already there and this girl seemed like a good one. It was an interesting 55 minutes, but not unpleasant. Some of her techniques included rubbing upward on my forehead repeatedly. I felt like I was raising my brow in quick succession, and worried about more wrinkles. Other times she grabbed my hair near my scalp and tugged upward, hard. I think I lost about an additional hairs in those 55 minutes, Lol. She also used a lot of lotions and liquids, and some would trickle down my neck or into my ear, some in my nostril. So that was a bit uncomfortable, but not a dealbreaker. ***Really affordable -- a quaint, clean little gem -- in Queens compared to big places in Manhattan where you feel kind of overlooked. Two treatments (45 min reflexology and 55 min facial) and an add-on (15 mins), less than $200. *Online customer service -- they respond to emails within 24 hours. *Booking an appointment online is so easy and fast! Seamless! *No parking except for street. ****HUGE PLUS: You get a lot of personal attention here. They don't overbook, there isn't a ton of stuff, no one is rushing around. I noticed they were ten minutes late for my treatment, and this had happened at Bliss spa before, and it really irks me that I have to pay for a shortened treatment because they never make up for it. I am honestly a spa junkie and before I started coming here I used to go the Great Jones Spa over on Houston St. because they were supposedly "the best in the city". However, I never even for a moment received the quality of service there that I do at Simple Skin Spa. After only TWO facials with Amy, who is simply fantastic, and using the recommended products (Arcona Triad Pads and Mandarin peel that they were not at all pushy about offering to me) my skin has gotten considerably better and never have I received so many genuinely unsolicited comments about my skin in my life! From the time I made the appointment until the time I actually went in, Crystal took her time to explain everything to me. She was running a bit behind on time but I did not mind because I was relaxing in the lounge area. When you arrive, it smells lovely and the lady upfront guides you to change into your robe and slippers. Crystal asked many questions and took her time while doing the rescue facial. I really enjoyed my visit. The only thing I would recommend is, if you have a skin condition, make sure to try samples prior to purchasing products. Consult with your Dermatologist first. Unless you want to spend a great deal of money on products which you may later find out are not appropriate for your skin. The relaxation area has herbal tea and snacks that you can enjoy while waiting for your treatment. It has a cute backyard/outdoor area where you can relax also during the warmer months. I had an appointment for a facial with Crystal. Crystal is so thorough with everything explaining each and every step of the facial. She starts off with analyzing your skin/face, a process called face mapping, under a bright light (don't know the correct term for it). She then explained the good and the bad about each area of my face and what I could do to improve those areas. I hadn't had a facial in a long time so there were a lot of extractions done. My skin was glowing after the treatment and I really felt like a million bucks. Even my mom complimented my skin and wanted to know what I was using and this was three to four weeks after I had my facial appt. with crystal. Crystal also recommended some products by Arcona, which they also use and carry at the spa for purchase. I purchased all the products she recommended and I must say they're all great. I've been using it for about 3 months now and I do notice a difference in my skin. My skin now looks more brighter than before and it feels super smooth. I was slightly dissappointed with my first visit here (just due to extraction level) but the owner promptly reached out to me and went above and beyond to ensure complete satisfaction. Upon my second visit, I had a good facial and had a face mapping done (so educational! who would have known what you could learn through this technique?!). I will continue to invest in frequenting this spa in order to follow my facialist's advice on how to bring my skin to an optimal condition. This spa works really hard to keep their clients happy and pays very close attention to even the smallest details. They (from the receptionist/scheduler to the two facialists to the owner) are all extremely gracious. The facialists are very knowledgeable and regularly trained by Arcona with new products and as a result new facials as new products are introduced. In fact, Arcona (natural beauty brand) is all this spa carries, uses and sells and most of their products smell and feel divine! Upon checking out after your service, the front desk will provide you with a hand written "script" courtesy of your facialist on what products she recommends for your skin and exact instructions on how she suggests using them. So easy! The spa is impeccably clean, very serene and with a very nice and well-thought out selection of snacks and fruit/mint water with a small relaxation/lounge area in the back. This place is a gem. Spacious and calming inside, it is vastly different from a lot of the cramped spaces other spas have in NYC. The robes are thick and snuggly, the noise minimal and all in all, it was a great place to relax for a couple hours. I had the Purifier facial with Crystal and I loved it. She took the time to analyze my skin and explain the treatments thoroughly. She extracted everything that was causing my face to be a mess. I have visited many spas throughout NYC (Manhattan & Queens specifically) and this one is by far, my most favorite frequented spa. I actually haven't gotten a facial anywhere else in the last 6yrs. I used to have very congested skin, especially in my T-zone. Crystal at Simple Skin spa, has taught me how to care for my skin thoroughly, but gently and with much patience. She is amazing. Soothing, skilled, & well mannered. The place is for women only (except for their Father's Day special) .. facials are the main reason I come here .. they're organic, thorough, & the beds heat up . It's always clean and quiet. They offer tea and infused fruit water. They also sell the products they use here, called Arcona. It is the ONLY cleanser I will use on my face. Oh ... and their Pre-Natal massages are pretty great as well. I'm actually sitting here right now, with a plush pink robe on, sipping hot herbal tea, waiting for Crystal to call me in.
