A miracle worker! I…read morewas in Florida and was very active, biking, kayaking, etc. A few days after returning I had extreme sciatica. I've had a bad back most of my adult life, but never sciatica. I was completely miserable. I couldn't sleep and was in constant distress. I went to Dr. Wu and felt great after each visit, but the Sciatica returned. Dr. Wu warned me that it would take multiple visits. After the 4th visit, I was completely cured. A few weeks later, I developed a different back pain and also had groin pain on one side. This wasn't just "oh, I'm sore" pain - it was pain and discomfort that was interfering with my life - it was so bad I had trouble driving. I returned to Dr. Wu and he "killed" me. When I walked out I was still miserable and I had no idea what I was going to do. But when I woke up the next morning, I was completely cured and I've been absolutely fine ever since. My insurance would not cover the visits, but it's priced very reasonably. I've deducted one star only because one has to walk a large flight of stairs and because the office is a bit shabby, but maybe if the office was nice, it would cost 2-3x the price. If I had major surgery and got the same result, I would have been very happy. But Dr. Wu accomplished the same thing for pennies in comparison, with just acupuncture and intense massage. Couldn't be happier.

My massage therapist was Leah and she was amazing at getting out all the knots and her pressure was on point! As someone who lifts 4-6 times a week, I need someone who isn't afraid or gets tired easily when they give me a massage. I felt like my 2 previous spots in astoria just wasn't doing it anymore as the quality went down and it wasn't doing the level of service that an athlete like I needed. They give you water after it's done and accept card as well even for tips which I appreciated. I will be back every 4-6 weeks here as my new spot. I felt like a new human and I was no longer in pain! Thanks so much!

We booked a 90-minute session, but it took about 10-20 minutes before we were brought in to start. Despite that delay, the session still ended exactly at the 90-minute mark, so we did not receive the full time we paid for. During the massage, both therapists frequently stopped, dropped items, whispered to each other, and repeated the same moves throughout the session--even during the foot reflexology--making it feel rushed. At the end, one therapist did not speak English and repeatedly pointed to the tip, making it clear she felt it wasn't enough. This made the situation very uncomfortable, especially given the quality of service. While the space looks improved and the front desk staff was friendly, the lack of professionalism during the massage outweighed the positives.

The spa is located on the second floor up a steep flight of stairs. Inside, it's very clean and serene feeling, though a little outdated decor wise. The front desk was friendly, and I was immediately taken into a small room for my massage. My masseuse was awesome. He checked in with me throughout to make sure the pressure was okay. Throughout the massage he used a nice smelling oil, hot stones, and a hot towel toward the end. He really got into my pressure points, and worked out the knots that have taken up permanent residence in my shoulders. My lower back pain has also been an issue for me, which subsided after this massage. Overall, solid massage spot. Clean, professional, and affordable.

Ok back to this review, here's the biggest issue I had with the place and why you see 3stars. They do not inform you either written or verbally that they charge a mandatory tip on top of the service. So while I was happy to tip at the end usually this is based on the service and up to the discretion of the customer. Again, if it had been written or conveyed to us in some format, that would have been ok and we could have decided what to do; however, at the end of the massage, I handed the lady a large bill to cover two foot massages for 60 min and she gave me change back. Then informed me of the mandatory tip value, I was surprised. More important, what if you bring a certain amount of money that can't cover the surprise mandatory tip at the end? People want to tip a good service, but when you surprise customers and demand it, that's when things can get awkward. I really wanted this to be the place I come weekly and recommend to others, not sure if I can now. Many things to think of regarding this surprise. Ambience - somewhat chaotic if I'm being truthful, many people coming in and out, so dont expect a quiet massage. Many people talking on the phone, customers waiting (watching videos on their phone with the audio on). Clean- better than I expected, bring your own towels if you want and maybe some wipes, because again it is covid season still. Therapists - they are really kind overall, do hard work, but again the tip thing above. This was unclear to us and some others if it was a random thing only told to a few people or if everyone was told about this. No conclusion could be made, you decide. Price - reasonable/average for places in that area. Sadly, this is a legit massage place vs the other odd massage parlours, so that definitely makes it hard to find similar places to try out. Overall, I may return, but that tip/price thing has to be clarified by the owner first.

It's not the fanciest looking place but the massage was great for the price. My only issue was that…read moresometimes the masseuse would leave the room for something and I noticed she would leave the door ajar which stressed me out since I am laying naked on a table with a towel over me. Even if it's just for a few seconds I think it's important to prioritize customer privacy when we are in such a vulnerable position. Other than this small thing, I enjoyed the massage. The masseuse applied the perfect amount of pressure for me and was overall very friendly and sweet.

(scroll for info at the end of my original review.) ------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Yeahhhh.. this place isn't it lol. For context I'm 25F, just moved into the area. This happened a few weeks ago but it just popped into my head recently. Hole in the wall massage/spa places are so hit or miss. Honestly I accidentally booked through them for a 60min back massage thinking it was another place that I actually liked that is also in ridgewood (it was "Mosa Spa"; you can book on their website so you know exactly what you're paying for before hand.) During the massage the woman asked me multiple times if I wanted soft or heavier pressure, and each time I said soft very loud and clear, since my head was face down for the massage. Fast forward to the middle of the massage and she's standing on my back. Like actually standing. And it wasn't brief. I know this is something people do in general, like at home, but it seemed extremely unprofessional since she didn't ask first before doing it, and I had already said "soft pressure" not "please put your whole body weight on me in one place." I also know that 60min massages usually involve flipping around to have the front part (arms, legs, head) massaged about halfway through. She must have mistimed and I flipped over and then 10 minutes later her timer went off and the massage promptly ended. When I was filling out the receipt for the tip, the man at the counter pointed at the dotted line and said "Tip." (not as question. also extremely rich considering the quality of the experience.) I never write reviews because I am so lazy; I guess this is where my laziness gets me so I can't complain (too much) - but I can warn: If you have a small budget for pampering yourself, either go to another massage place like Mosa with similar prices, or bite the bullet and splurge on an actual spa/bathhouse (NYC & brooklyn have plenty.) Or get a facial at the Glowbar locations for 30min under $100. Or get your nails done! I felt super disappointed because I don't have a lot of money for this kind of stuff, and blew it on a very uncomfortable experience. Good luck lol. -------------- Edit: I didn't look at the other reviews before visiting since I thought I was going somewhere else, but after I posted THIS review, i read someone else's who said they got a SKIN INFECTION twice?? And weirdly enough they posted a second 5 star review saying they loved it and to tip the masseuse $1 per hour (so like $30-60 extra) and that their "old review" was an assumption and they shouldn't have posted it. I clicked on the account of the second reviewer and they're two different people under the name Daniel I. First review about skin infection is real, the second 5 star review is fake and from the company. That's actually crazy.

Horrible massage and then have the nerve to "force" a tip (SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE). Please make sure…read moreyou read reviews prior to booking an appointment!
