Making an appointment online for my mom's ultrasound was very simple and easy. She had an 8:30 AM appointment today, but we arrived a little before 7:00 AM. The door was still locked, but a kind patient opened it for us and let us in. The front desk staff was friendly, and the check-in process was quick and efficient. Even though my mom's appointment was scheduled for later, the ultrasound technician called her in around 7:15 AM and finished the exam by 7:30 AM. The ultrasound technician was professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly while giving easy-to-follow instructions throughout the procedure. Due to the current market conditions insurance requires you often must go wherever the insurance decided is applicable. Asked to fill out paperwork-very detailed, no record keeping on the part of the provider. They said arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork I just filled out a few weeks ago. Then does the appointment start no I have to wait 20 more minutes. The tech ask me a bunch of question about a health issue asking for a serial number on a part ( does anyone have serial number records for a part replaced, like a knee, hip, valve, etc.) He tried to deny my scan based on some information that -what? Is this a new thing. Then I told him I have had several scans there before; he proceeded with my scan. Waiting room area is shabby to be nice. read more

Absolutely the worst. Totally disorganized, overwhelmingly unprofessional, and generally dysfunctional. Online system bombards prospective patients with reminders, but: 1. Absolutely no clear communication about actual location of office (in Daly City, inside AAA building) with no external signage so Mapquest sends drivers in circles; 2. No transparancey regarding fees (additional 3% charge with credit card copay---not mentioned in appointment confirmation) and higher costs than usual for other private pay medical services; 3. Faulty procedural mechanism ( registration shuts you out as you try to use online system), so even if you have a confirmed appointment, you must wait in a line that snakes its way from the elevator to the front desk. Obviously, this corporately owned, totally-for- profit organization puts poorly paid, untrained young people in positions where they have to deal with angry people. Three people (including me) cancelled appointments and walked out in the time I was there. If possible, stay away! read more

These folks give your info to robo dialers who call all the time, like 10 Times a day.. when you answer they put you on hold... then they ask all sorts of personal questions before they will tell you why they called... after 10 min they told me they were confirming my appointment! This is my 2nd time in 1 week going back to SM, the 1st was on 10/6, arrived on time, but told to pay before my scan, if no payment was made, my MRI would be cancelled, asked if I can be bill, NO. Who asked patient to pay up front or appt be cancel. What if this was a emergency appt, but unable to seen due to a payment issue up front, on top of that 3% surcharge if using a CC. 2nd time was on 10/8, had 2 appt, mammogram and ultrasound. My appt was at 3:45, arrived 3:51 and the receptionist blankly told me I was late, the tech waited for me and had left. Told I need to reschedule due to me being late. I had a 3:30 and passed the grace period of the 15 mins. Told I am not late, my appt at 3:45, she ignored me, kept saying I was late, no tech was around to do my ultrasound. Showed her my text from SM, that my appt was 3:45 and I arrived within the grace period, I spoke a little louder and she then said do not yell at her. She claims text are not always corrected, will I only go by what I rec'd and my other text was for a 4:15 mammogram, she stated no its at 4:30, again ignored my text even showing it to her. This time tho, I was not asked to pay up front. Very confusing on what their policy are, when going different day and time different stories. I did ended up with both scan taken, only because a coworker walk by and heard our commotion. She was nice enough to see if there was a ultrasound tech and there was, which the receptionist wouldn't check. I have gone there many times, never been asked up front for payment or no appt, nor have I been treated that rudely. I have been to different site area and really have no problem. This is a totally not acceptable, think front desk needs more training on customer services. Hence reason for my 1 star rating otherwise my techs were nice and patience. read more

Terrible and shady business practices I had an appointment here nearly 2 years ago. Paid, used insurance, and figured I was done. Then last week, almost 2 years since I had been in, I received another bill about the same appointment and was told I had to pay even more. In case that wasn't frustrating enough, while on the phone with them, I was informed that they had tried to send this bill to collections twice! Without even sending it to me. Honestly, the amount was negligible and I wouldn't have cared about paying it a couple months after the appointment, but to not only wait 2 years to bill me, but also try to send my bill to collections before sending it to me is wild. Highly recommend you find another imaging center if at all possible. read more

Terrible customer experience at SimonDead Imaging. A few years ago I had one appointment changed from open MRI to closed and recently had another completely canceled, both times I wasn't told until I arrived at their 1180 Post St location in SF. For the second incident, I wasn't told it was cancelled until I checked with the front desk after sitting in the waiting room for 25 mins past my scheduled appointment time. Incompetency from top to bottom. Many customer reviews and several doctors I spoke to tell a similar story. The front desk staff of young Michael Smith, a young Latina woman and an Asian "concierge" act like detached, frightened children. Please note, pointing out their races is just for identification purposes. Before my most recent appointment, I spoke with the concierge about the need for the quieter open (vs. closed) MRI machine due to my noise sensitivity condition called hyperacusis, but she apparently didn't note the importance of that for the rest of the staff because one of their techs decided the image quality would not be sufficient which seemed to have led to my appointment getting canceled. It's a mystery why none of the front desk people could notify me before I arrived and sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes. I asked Michael for his supervisor/office manager's phone number which he was reluctant to give, first saying she wasn't onsite and "she's really busy", then giving me an email address with an incorrect letter in the name, confirming it even after I read it back to him letter by letter. After forwarding the message to info@simonmed.com as instructed in their reply to negative reviews, Brianna (not Brionna) Dolayo finally responded and at first seemed to want to help, but later flaked out on a phone appointment time we had agreed to. Unfortunately, they don't want to be accountable for the disorganized, incompetent mess of SimonDead. If you're a high risk, high reward type of person and still want to try them, I recommend not calling their posted number which just routes you to a call center which always took 20-30 minutes to make an appointment due to their system always being "slow today". I had a coronary angiogram at SimonMed 5 months ago. Even though I explained my HRA insurance covers the deductible, they refused to perform the scan unless I paid $779.04 upfront. I had no choice but to pay or cancel the procedure, an extremely stressful experience, especially right before a heart test. Afterward, my insurance paid the full amount, showing $0 patient responsibility, yet five months later I still haven't received my refund. Multiple calls and emails have gone unanswered. No patient should be forced to pay in advance for a covered service or spend months chasing their own money. Avoid SimonMed at every location. read more

I hate to say it, but I am a frequent flyer at Simonmed imaging in Daly City. I'd have to say, I've had at least a dozen MRIs in my life and I know what the service should look like and what the experience should be. I am not disappointed, nor am I happy with this place, I am neutral in my judgment. Our experience was hit and miss today. The place is pretty inconspicuous and if you weren't paying attention, you'd pass it up. It kinda looks like a free city clinic from the front. And the inside kind of resembles one as well. As soon as we walked in, the lady at the counter greeted us and said she would be with us as soon as possible, very friendly. We sat there for a good 10 to 15 minutes, before being called The Daly city location, seems to have a different system. When I've gone there at opening, I had never seen an employee walk in to work. As far as I was concerned, they were all there half an hour prior to opening. It's a different story here. As we are waiting, I watched a young employee walk in, that look like she just woken up or got two hours of sleep. The next gentleman showed up and he looked like he was running late and not prepared. The third lady was the worst. She was loud, unprofessional and yelling, "Thank God it's Friday, Thank God it's Friday". WTH??? If I'm running any kind of clinic or imaging company, I would make sure that my employees walked in, in a professional manner, kept their conversations low and conducted themselves professional manner. They'd arrive at least 15 minutes prior to opening. It kind of reminded me how a free clinic operates and had a mental ward feel, kinda low budget. My girlfriend's name was called and she walked in the door to the right of the front counter. She was really happy with the service. The tall gentleman that helped her, was professional, kind and understanding to her situation. By the way, he was already there when we got there and he carried himself in a professional manner. At the end of the day, an MRI is an MRI, no matter where you get it. But what makes the difference is the level of care and professionalism that you expect. There is a parking garage to the right of SimonMed. If you have a bigger car, truck or SUV, I do not recommend you park in here. The driving lanes are steep, narrow and the parking spaces are small. Yesterday was the appointment and I was told twice, by front desk and by the radiologist that I will get results EOD. This morning there is still no results posted nor from email nor from website portal. Giving a call to the office the lady was rude and claimed there is no such service and results will be available after 3 days. This is definitely fraud! read more

I booked online, so it was pretty easy, although the forms are a lot to fill in. I was scheduled at 10:15am, check in was easy, and they saw me promptly. So I had almost no wait time to get the MRI done. They were helpful in getting me on and off the table (back lumbar and disc issues) and on and off the wheelchair. It was my first MRI, and I recommend bringing some good ear plugs because it gets loud, the ones they have are so-so. By the time I got home my imaging and records were ready for me to view on patient portal. Based on my experience the care quality was good, and everything went well! read more

I am terribly frustrated trying to get the results of an MRI done 2 weeks ago sent to the doctor who requested them. I have gone into your location at 1180 Post Street but the report had not been completed. So, I asked that the report be sent to both my doctor and to my physical therapist. Rude and unprofessional. Went for my first mammogram and the scheduling was confusing- made me reschedule and then sent me numerous robo calls and texts to confirm the wrong appointment. Called to make sure I had the correct appointment time and got more robo calls. Waiting area is dirty. Woman at the front counter yelled to me across the room and over a person she was helping ahead of me asking for my name and appointment info. I told her I'd wait until she was done with the person in front of me as I didn't want to yell my personal info across a room of strangers. When it's my turn, she takes my ID, then "returns" it and it's someone else's. The woman who did my mammogram was rude, snapped at me if I didn't move immediately and exactly how she needed. Pushed in my stomach and said: What are you doing? Stand up straight! I get that she does this everyday but I don't. Found myself apologizing to her the whole time for not anticipating exactly what I needed to do. It's like the people there forget that a whole person is attached to the body part they're scanning. Everything about SimonMed has been terrible. It has always been a very unpleasant experience dealing with them in the past. My most recent experience was so egregious that I will never return, ever. This time, trying to set up the appointment was atrocious. I was directed to someone working from home with distracting noises at high volume in the background. In addition to not being able to hear very well due to the distractions, the person disconnected the call (accidentally or to tend to personal business; I cannot be certain). Of course nobody called me back until they received my survey results several days/week later. The call should have been immediately returned. They had my order; they had my number. I wasn't even being a d-ck or anything; I was being rather cool. No matter what I do with Simon imaging from filthy waiting rooms too long weights after appointment had already been scheduled. It is negative experience after negative experience and I personally will never go back. read more

The receptionist checked me in very quickly and I only waited about 10 minutes for my appointment. The ultrasound tech was friendly and professional and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. They were able to send the images over to my doctor within a few hours. read more

A Masterclass in Wasting a Patient's Time If you enjoy taking time off work only to be met with confusion and last-minute problems, then Simon Medical is the place for you. For everyone else, I strongly suggest you avoid this office at all costs. My saga started when I arrived for my scheduled appointment, only to be told at the front desk that it was canceled because they hadn't verified my insurance. A simple phone call would have saved me the trip, but that was apparently too much to ask. Fast forward several months. After I did the work of communicating with my MD to confirm my insurance was cleared, I rescheduled. I was hopeful. That hope died today at the lab. I was informed there's a strict 6-week window for getting labs done before an appointment--news to me! The timing was now impossible. To add insult to injury, the office called me the day before, not to provide this crucial instruction, but to tell me my labs weren't done and I'd need to reschedule. AGAIN. The level of incompetence is astounding. There is zero proactive communication and a clear lack of concern for their patients. My MRI appointment was efficient. BUT when I asked the front desk to email me my MRI, they confirmed my email address and said they would in 2 days. They never did. I had to look in SimonMed's FAQs to find out how to access my MRI images and send them to my physical therapist (PT). I didn't know that what my PT needed was a MRI report, which wasn't there. I had to login daily to see when it'd be there. Five business days later, it was. I still never got an email. read more

Very frustrating experience. I came in to get an ultrasound. A couple days before coming in, I was quoted a price of $150 over the phone from their billing department. After I got the ultrasound, I was charged a co-pay of $400. I came to this center because it was cheaper than other options. It has now been 6 days since I got my imaging done (4 business days) and my doctor called to get the report so they could take a look. They just told my doctor that they need an ADDITIONAL 3 - 5 days to finish their report. This is incredibly upsetting. I am now delayed in getting the care I need because this it will take ~2 weeks to get the report from my ultrasound. I would strongly discourage others from going here. I was deceived because they have good reviews on Google but I should have seen their bad reviews on Yelp. read more

I'm thankful for the team of professionals that provided an efficient and helpful experience while getting my MRI. The information about finding the proper entrance was helpful, but wasn't as efficient. The main entrance was fairly inconspicuous and a more noticeable sign that one has, in fact, arrived would be more helpful. The front desk person was so kind and welcoming. There were two specialist that were there for my actual MRI. The first specialist was absolutely wonderful, caring, kind, helpful, informative - she was great! The second specialist wasn't very welcoming, didn't introduce herself (I had to greet HER), and she literally walked away when I needed assistance getting on and off the MRI machine (my mobility is limited due to my injury), and the first specialist, thankfully, mover to the second's spot to help me. The second specialist did not make me feel comfortable being there and non confident to approach her. When it comes to cost, knowing the price range and coverage would be nice to know ahead of the exam. Thinking I had some coverage, only to be told after that I had to pay the full amount, immediately, out-of-pocket was very shocking. It would have been nice to have more transparency. read more

Now there a guy work there, he doesn't know how to schedule, my MD ordered MRI pelvis & abdomen with & without contrast, he scheduled me only for MRI abdomen, and for MRI pelvic I have to go to different location, un-believable & he never told me. I spoke with a man who worked at the customer service desk. He was rude and unhelpful. I had two instances of speaking with this same person and both times were disappointing. When I was first referred to this office by my care provider this man scheduled the wrong dates for my appointment after repeatedly agreeing on a set date over the phone. Today when trying to understand why Simon Med could not obtain my previous medical records he threw attitude at me saying "well your insurance didn't even approve the appointment anyways". Seemed like he was pretty happy to relay such upsetting news. This man lacks tact and professionalism, also could not help answer any questions. Walked in for a X-ray today. Staff were very nice and my procedure went fine; no complaints there. But I'm only giving three stars for these reasons: - Intake form only had options "Male" and "Female". I'm non-binary, as are many other folks, especially here in San Francisco. - The (free) WiFi blocked the Bay Area Reporter, a local general-purpose LGBT newspaper, as an "adult" site. - There was no visible signage requiring or recommending masks at this medical facility. Terrible service. I have used SimonMed for years. They have an office near my house and in the past they would copy images to a disc at the time of an appointment. Well recently, I booked an appointment for an X-Ray with contrast on Nov 1, 2024. Simon Med is unable to do contrast in my area and referred me to an office 40 miles away. I got reminders on Nov. 18 & Nov 25. Well I go to my SimonMed account and there is no appointment on the books. Calling them, I learn for the first time that the appointment had been cancelled. No call. No e-mail. This isn't their first screw-up. I scheduled the same X-Ray at the Downtown San Francisco office and the person responsible for opening the facility did not show-up for work and no one was assigned as a back-up. Needless to say, the back-up was for hours after they finally opened. No longer worth the trouble to use SimonMed for Medical Imaging services. read more

We are entitled to a VALID cost estimate BEFORE we have a procedure. I was given two different prices when I called if paid via CASH, and then they told me my insurance (in net) would only cost $411 co-pay, but my insurance company said I need to pay over $1000 deduct first then 40% of the cost. But Simon reps refused to tell me the allowable amount. I cancelled my appointment. If they can not do this, I do not trust them to do tests correctly. read more

They scam you with the prices. They tell you 2 different prices before the appointment and when it's a day prior, they tell you the estimated is double. I don't think you can get a lot of clients when ALL your competitors are honest and they charge 50% less than your company. That's you have poor rating on reputation. Don't trust this scam business and try to rip you off at the end. read more

The Open MRI machine is the last one in the city. Parking in the area is tough. The garage in the same building has very few spots and is SUPER STEEP & TIGHT so be aware! It even says to use a low gear it's that steep and narrow. The building is old and run down but it did the job. I had to follow up with them to get the results sent to my doc even though the info was on my papers. You can't talk to the actual location as you are always routed to their call center. Keep in mind this is a big business with locations all over the country so that's what you're dealing with. I had questions about my billing and it took an act of God to speak to an actual human being. I was on hold for 15 minutes and ended up hanging up. Their website said to use online chat so I did that and then the agent said I needed to call but also gave me an email address for support so I fired off an email with my inquiry. So confusing. I finally spoke to someone from their main call center line and they said the number I called was no longer in service and gave me another number to call. I waited for another 15 minutes only to speak to someone who said to please call back because their system was down. At that point I was exasperated and gave up. A couple days later I heard back over email with the billing inquiry information I needed. Finally... I would use SimonMed if I need another Open MRI because I don't want to go in the tube, but their customer support needs a lot of streamlining and their customer experience needs improvement. read more
