A real mensch who fixed my arm that was so itchy, I wanted to peel off the skin. I couldn't get an appointment for a little while but there was a cancellation and unlike other offices his was able to schedule me for sooner. There is not another neurologist I would trust for my family to see. My dad a psychologist who has very high standards agrees with the quality of care by Dr Fishman. read more

Fishman prescribed a medication and alleged he was sending it to pharmacy. The pharmacy never received the order. We made three calls to office. There was no return phone call and prescription remains unfilled. He seemed more interested in soliciting additional services, then practicing medicine. This office is terrible and Fishman is no longer the neurologist he once was. Very bad experience. Do not go. read more

Dr. fisherman kept me waiting over 30 min and then turns out he was not even supposed to see me. He was dismissive and condescending about my long-term migraines. Do not go to Integrated Neurological services. I only went there to switch providers because there were closer. They wasted my time on two visits without treatment and I saw them do the same to a young couple while I was there. Run don't walk away. read more

I agree with all of the 1 star reviews. I would give 0 stars, if that was an option. I have had an extremely disappointing and painful experience with this neurology office. There has been little to no communication regarding my care, and my prior authorizations were not submitted on time, causing unnecessary delays in treatment and significant personal suffering. While waiting for my treatment to be approved, the office failed to provide the necessary information to support my case. As a result, I had to undergo an alternative treatment, which left me with a $400 out-of-pocket bill. The staff has been consistently rude and dismissive. When I called billing to ask about the status of my prior authorization, I was hung up on. I was told they are "understaffed" and that billing is "not trained," so I would just need to wait. Despite multiple portal messages, voicemails, and requests for a manager to call me back, I went over 30 days without any response. My concerns about my care and the delays have been completely ignored. When I finally expressed my frustrations, the office's response was to release me as a patient. I was told if I wanted to continue services, I would have to pay my balance in full within two days. This is an unacceptable way to treat patients--especially those already dealing with serious health issues. Patients deserve timely communication, trained staff, and compassionate care--not to be dismissed, ignored, or penalized for speaking up about legitimate problems. read more

Spent very little time on the first visit after driving over an hour there getting somebody to drive me there in an hour back only to be told to get a couple x-rays that's about. It never really went through a big long or full conversation as to what has been going on with my health, which was why I was there being a neurologist with his background. I was so excited that I had found him so really disappointed that my introduction to him and the other appointment which he did not even conduct was totally upsetting. I got the x-rays that he ordered and he was supposed to go over them. I was given a date when he was going to call and do it over a FaceTime interview. He did not show up for it another doctor. I didn't even know and who is not with the same background that Dr Fishman had, very little to say about my x-rays he actually didn't read them as I had seen the results myself from my chart and he really wasn't that interested in telling me other than trying to do the time for another doctor and get off the phone that's the way I felt his thing was that the x-rays were like before my response to him was before what I haven't seena back doctor for the back x-rays in years so I don't know how we go back to a situation years ago, and I don't even know how you'd even see those x-rays because I haven't seen them in years so I think that just came out of his head to say needless to say as far as my brain x-rays went I go to Duke cancer center in Durham, North Carolina. My doctors at Duke always keep up with my MRIs and I'm down there probably every six months so I'm quite aware when I saw the x-rays and the report what new was happening this Dr did not say one thing that was new happening I brought it up to him Again felt like he was a quick stand in so yes, I'm very disappointed. I actually called and talked to the office manager on how unhappy I was and that I would cancel any future appointments with his group as I was told by the Doctor Who phoned me to do a review which he did not have the appointment to do that and I said to him well I guess I'll talk to Dr. Fishman when he does a procedure that was coming up the following week surprise he tells me oh no he won't be doing that on you even though I have it that he Dr. Fishman would be doing that procedure on me. This doctor said oh no probably somebody else will be doing that. I think he threw a few names out but definitely I would not be seeing Dr. Fishman I said then why did they give me an appointment stating that he was going to see me so that was it for me I don't like booking an appointment waiting weeks to get in and then having a very short period of time with them getting the x-rays done that he wanted having another couple of weeks go by waiting for him to go over it and not having him show up to give me the answers. I was hoping to hear and how we were going to move forward. It was actually a waste of over a month of my time that doesn't move me forward into getting help and trying to get better soon. Very very disappointing. I was so excited when I found his background his education and his other summaries about him were very good, but maybe that's what they wanted us to see but things obviously changed. By the way Duke knew I was looking for local neurologist for problems they dont handle as they work with my brain tumors. read more

I had seen Dr. Fishman for weakness and fatigue. He looked at my MRI and told me "your fine." I went on to say that my symptoms have gotten worse and I don't feel fine. He basically told me it's all stress related and to stop seeing doctors. He completely dismissed my symptoms and made me feel like I'm some kind of hypochondriac! I gave him 3 stars because he spent a lot of time with me, but most of that time he tried to convince me it's all in my head and I need to relax more. After the first 10 minutes, I just wanted to get out of there. He didn't even examine me - he just examined my eyes and that was it. A very bad experience and I will never go back to that office again! read more

In April 2025 Dr Fishman gave me a very bad recommendation due to inexperience as a neurologist. His wrong diagnosis caused me to have a brain/skull operation due to his misdiagnose. Two weeks before my visit I had a fall that caused a head injury. I was told to consult a Neurologist, was a little dizzy and my left leg was weak. So I took and showed him my 2 latest CT head scans radiographs to Dr. Fishman, which he didn't show much interest, but I insisted that he would look at it on the screen and analyze my injury. He specifically told me "Well, I don't see anything here, it looks normal." He went on asking about my sleeping pattern, and asked me and my wife how much I sleep every night, etc. Again, I asked questions about his my 2 CT scans, he smiling replied: "YOU'RE OK, don't worry about that, I think you have sleepapnea". My wife sitting next to me is my witness. Dr. Fishman recommended on the way out to pick up (rent!) their sleeping machine, go to bed with it on my face and come back to review my sleeping pattern. (I did not do this; it was not the reason I went to see this neurologist). Two weeks later my body was weak and dizzy. I was rushed to INOVA hospital with a Subdural hematoma (blood) inside my skull, around my brain; I was operated and stayed in intensive care unit for 4 days. After that it still required another operation called MMA to remove residual blood from my skull. Another Dr told me that Dr. Fishman should've been honest and tell me he was NOT a "head trauma neurologist" and send me to one, and not tell me and my wife that I was OK, and had to sleep more. In retrospect, I think he just wanted to make more money by renting me the sleep machine and get another consultation. Now 2 months later I'm still recuperating at home, cannot drive, and have spent lots of money with operations, doctors, hospital, medicines, etc. I am so sorry that I went to consult this "neurologist". I took my 96 years old mother to see him for memory issues. She had been evaluated by a neuropsychologist, and was found to have mild dementia, but a few fairly severe deficits. At Integrated Neurology, she was first evaluated by the PA, who was very nice. I asked if they had reviewed the neuropsych report and was told that they had not. Dr. Fishman came in and asked a couple of questions and pronounced that she was doing great and did not need any treatment. When I pointed out examples of various issues she was having, he said that sounded like family issues and walked out of the room. He was there less than 10 minutes. read more

Truly the worst doctor I've ever interacted with. I attended an appointment as a caregiver for my mother. He was rude and dismissive of all of her symptoms and pain. Never examined her, never reviewed her MRI or past history. Offered no solutions to her debilitating symptoms. He was in the room with her for less than 5 minutes and literally walked out while she was mid- sentence. I am beyond appalled. I wouldn't trust Dr Fishman with a pet turtle, much less a family member. The first rule of medicine is first do no harm, but his behavior and attitude caused active harm. Beyond terrible. read more

We are still concerned about my relative's health, my relative having Parkinson's, and Dr. Fishman's treatment of this relative Dr. Fishman and his physician's assistant are having great difficulty getting the right balance of medications. We are also still concrened about Dr. Fishman's lack of discussion of physical therapy personally tailored to the patient's particular needs. read more

I rotated with Dr. Fishman as a 4th year medical student and have nothing short of amazing things to say about him. What a knowledgeable and compassionate physician he is! I have been going to Dr. Fishman since January 2015 when I first started my search for a Neurologist. I came to him with for help with my headaches. During this time I have found Dr.Fishman to be very compassionate and understanding of my struggle to find relief of my headaches. I always felt that he took his time to listen to me and what was going on with me. In the past he even took the time to call me at home when had I concerns about my medication. This last visit I was having another medical issue and he took the time to help me. He told me that first he was a doctor and then a Neurologist. I would definitely recommend Dr. Fishman. I had been to 3 other neurologists at two different practices prior to seeing Dr. Fishman. I was still having problems and wanted a fresh perspective from a doctor who talked to me like a human being. Not a robot. Dr. Fishman was recommended by a friend because he is a neuromuscular specialist who treated her friend's family member. I was very nervous and worried about my symptoms. My wife was pregnant with our first child and I feel like the other doctors I had seen put very little effort into evaluating me. Dr. FISHMAN HAS THE BEST PERSONALITY! He put me at ease and was very reassuring that we would figure it out. He proceeded to perform different tests and he's working with my other doctors on a treatment plan. He found things that the other neurologists missed because he LISTENS. He didn't just see me for 15 minutes and go on to the next. I don't think any of my appointments have been less than 30 minutes. The first one was about an hour. I remember waiting in the lobby during my first appointment and I overheard another patient telling the receptionist how Dr Fishman saved his life because he was having horrible migraines that no one else had been able to treat. He had been pain free for the first time in years. I have been to two locations (Alexandria and Lorton) and his staff has been very courteous/friendly. I never had much wait. If you or a loved one are having neurological issues do not hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Fishman. Also I would ignore any negative reviews...there are always people out there you can't satisfy. Maybe it was another Simon Fishman because it could not be the same guy who has been treating me!! read more

My father was seen this past week by Mr. Fishman, it was one of the worst experiences I've encountered in my life and I'm sure in my fathers life as well. He was rude when evaluating my father in concerning the pain he was causing him. As soon as he finished his evaluation, he left and left either door open, not regarding that my father was only in a gown and boxer, and the rest of the people in the hall could see him. He did not stick around for any questions whatsoever, when we asked the nurse if we could speak to him she told us he had another patient, so we waited 20 minutes just to speak to him and he walked right passed and had the nurse come tell us that my fathers doctor would be speaking to him, although his doctor does not specialise in neurology. As someone in the medical field myself, I can say that I can not see how he could be found pleasing nor professional. Will not be visiting him again nor recommending him to anyone. read more

I was given a referral to Dr. Fishman for a nerve conduction study and an EMG. After I scheduled the appointment with Integrated Neurology Services, I received no instructions or information. When I arrived at the office, there was a very short wait, which was good as the waiting room is tiny with only 3 chairs, so most people were standing. After I was put in a treatment room, the young woman had me lie flat on the examining table, put a heating pad around my feet, which did feel nice, but no explanation as to why she did this, and again no information about the procedure. I was so uncomfortable, I couldn't relax my muscles, as I had to support my back with tensing my muscles, as the pain was horrible just lying flat. Dr. Fishman arrived very shortly afterward. I could not see anything he was doing as I was flat on my back. He did the nerve conduction study with no information. So I had no idea when the electrical shock would occur, where it would occur or how long or strong it would be. This made the test more uncomfortable that it should have been. Then came the EMG, Dr. Fishman said he would use needles, and that was again all the info given. So the needle stick was a surprise, as he DIDN'T say ok, I am placing the needle in your calf, it will pinch for a second, now here comes the electricity, it will feel like a stab for 60 seconds and your muscle will contract really hard, but only for 30 seconds. So the pain was a shock, I had no idea how long it would last, or where I would feel it. I couldn't see what he was doing, so it was torture. I can take a lot of pain with the information where it will hurt, what it will feel like, and especially how long it will last. I have had many, many, many painful procedures, and I made it through all of them, but not this one. Dr. Fishman gave me a paper with the results of my test as I was leaving, with no explanation of the results from him. I read it walking to the car and found out he didn't finish the EMG, due to "patient's inablility to tolerate needle exam". He didn't even discuss that with me. He could have asked if I thought I could take another needle in my ____, that would last for ___seconds. But he didn't, he didn't even tell me he didn't complete the exam. It was extremely painful, and I was crying, but I didn't know what was going to happen next, so the fear factor was huge. I have no idea how competent a physician he is with all the many other treatments and tests he administers, but I would highly recommend that for an EMG you find another office. read more
