Had scheduled appointments for 2 out of 3 of my children. Had to bring all three since I didn't have a sitter. Pediatric optometrist fit my #3 in since he had been complaining of headaches. Thankfully she did since he DID in fact need glasses. All of our glasses were ready by the end of the week. only complaint I had was the wait time for getting appointments. But considering they were shut down due to covid and trying to catch everyone up with their needs. Wasn't too bad AND when dr fit us all in one visit---all is forgiven that was Monday. Today is Saturday. Went to pick up glasses for all 4 of us. Extremely busy. Receptionist was great. Signed in Wait was about 20 minutes. Noticed the person who came in AFTER me was being called. So I asked. Although staff was extremely helpful she was also extremely frustrated. At that point I felt RUSHED. And this is not the staff's person fault. Being too busy on a Saturday and not having enough staff to help. I do have to return this week because my daughters saying she got the wrong glasses. So I have to go back to address it. When I picked up my glasses, I told them things were blurry with them. They said to give it time. I had 30 days to come back if I was still having trouble, I was told. I have been using various Simon Eye locations since the 90s, and this is the only location that has given me problems. The doctors and their staff are fine. It's when you want/need to buy glasses that the problem begins. I have purchased glasses from Simon Eye every year for the past 10+ years. I now have several pairs of glasses I can't wear because my prescription changed. This location carries the brand I like, but did not have the frames I wanted last year in 2024, and said they could order them, which they did. The associate also ordered the lenses, and when I picked up the glasses, they didn't seem right. Everything appeared concave through my lenses. She got the measurements wrong and had to remeasure and have them remade. In the meantime, I was wearing the pair I had purchased the year before, in 2023, and inquired about a scratch on the lens that I couldn't remove. She said oh you did that. Nothing we can do. I said Why do I pay for scratch-proof lenses?? Suddenly, they could honor their "scratch-proof" warranty and make me new lenses. The other new pair with remade lenses came in, and the 2nd set of lenses was fine, and I also purchased prescription sunglasses. Both pairs of glasses from 2023 and the new 2024 had brown transition lenses. I purchased frames back in 2022 with grey transition lenses. I returned several times during 2024 to have both pairs of glasses and the sunglasses adjusted, and every time they asked Did you get them here? Even though it is in my records that I have made all these purchases, and they say to come back anytime for adjustments. Fast forward to 2025, and my prescription changed AGAIN. I don't want to BUY another pair of frames. I have been wearing them for not quite a year. I want to get some more use out of them; they are beautiful and I like them. Should glasses be disposable? They are not disposable contacts. The doctor appointment was fine, but I mentioned how many weeks it took me to get glasses the year before because the associate measured wrong, and the doctor said Let me give you this person who has been here forever and knows what she is doing. The optician asked me what glasses I wanted to buy, and I told her I just wanted new lenses for the frames I was wearing that I purchased here, as they were less than a year old. She was clearly annoyed and said they can't guarantee anything, even though the frames came from there, and proceeded to fill out the lens order. I should have taken my prescription and left at that point. She did not take measurements or ask questions, and handed me the form to go pay at the front. I just assumed she knew what she was doing and was replacing the exact lenses in my frames with the new prescription, which is what I asked for. I paid and went home, and then noticed on the receipt it said grey lenses, called back and said these should be brown. Received a call from her saying it's not grey, I straightened it all out, they are brown. I get a call that my lenses are in. Come to pick them up, and can see that the techs are looking at them and asking questions. Someone told me the lenses came in grey, so they sent them back and got brown lenses made, but now the lenses don't fit my frames. They fit my frames from 2023, with the grey being from 2022. I was told the associate was a long-time employee from another location who filled in that day. She obviously could not be bothered to do her job correctly. They told me I could get them remade as a courtesy. What?? Finally, a different optician came over to help me out, and she said we would make this right. I also tried to get my sunglasses adjusted and was told by the tech that we can't guarantee anything. The optician did finally figure out what was wrong. The order was placed for the last pair of lenses I received, which was for the scratched lens replacement for the 2023 frames. So the "long-time employee who knows what she is doing" who placed my order and did not ask questions, just lazily looked at the last order, and ordered that size with the color of my 2022 lenses. NOT the last pair of frames I purchased, which were on my face. It doesn't even make sense. And did she lie that she corrected it since they still came in grey and had to be reordered in brown? The last optician did make it right, but that took another 2 weeks, and of course, she should have made it right because it's not like this was a favor. After all the time this took and all the issues that have occurred, I will be taking my business elsewhere. There are so many other options available, and I have been wasting my time and my money here. I am also starting to think that my prescription has not actually changed so many times, and that it's just that they can never get it right here. The exam was fine. I never purchase my eyeglasses and contacts there. After the exam I was guided over to the person who orders frames and lenses. I mentioned that I wasn't interested as I have a friend who is in the business. EVERY TIME the person is rude and snarky with me asking questions about that person. Dr. Maus saw my 3-year-old daughter in December 2024, and she was put in glasses. We followed up for months with seemingly no improvement in my child's vision, always told "her vision is about the same as it was last visit." We were told during our last appointment there in May 2025 that they would be consulting with the pediatric ophthalmologist down the hall, because there was concern that she would need surgery on her one eye and that they'd follow up with us. September 2025 - we heard nothing from either office & I noticed that her vision was seemingly getting worse. So, I took my child and my concerns elsewhere. It was then that I found out that my child had been put in the completely wrong prescription. "There's no way her vision was able to be what they put her in, to what she currently is" wrong! I immediately followed up with Simon Eye and wanted nothing else from them BUT to correct this problem (that was 9/11/25). After lots of repetitive calling, lots of "mishaps" (vs incompetence on their end) -- my child got her "correct" lenses 10/21/25. EXCEPT she did not. Upon a follow up at her new eye doctor, we found out that the lenses were still WRONG. It is truly disgusting that through all of this, there has never been an "I'm sorry" or a "what can we do to make this right", or any sort of genuine care or concern that this happened for that matter -- instead, it was my husband or I calling them over and over, trying to get a supervisor or a manager with no avail. I have been attempting for a year and a half to get a referral from Simon Eye Associates. The out of state ophthalmologist I have chosen needs a referral to become their patient. All of the necessary information needed is in the system but they refuse to act on making the referral. The Pike Creek office has billing management issues. I paid my bill in cash at the conclusion of my appointment. I continue to receive text messages stating I have an outstanding balance in the amount I already paid. I contacted the office immediately after receiving the first text on October 15th and have not received a response and continue to get the texts. This is billing fraud. read more

Over sold for extras other companies include and over proced. Bought my glasses had an issue and went back 4 times before I got a different person who said you have coverage for a replacement!!!!! I didn't even know I had the coverage ( must have been a fee I paid for and forgot or didn't know/ my fault)! Next time I'm off to purchase at Costco!! Oh and don't get me started on the billing department. Gave my my payment over the phone when I received the bill in the mail. Paid the bill the day after I received the statement in the mail. I made a yelp account solely to comment on how utterly disappointing my time with Simon Eye has been. I have been a customer for over 3 years and I have never had an easy experience with this place. It is ALWAYS something with this place. They somehow mess up every single contacts order and they overcharge for lenses/frames - its robbery. They have sent my contacts to the wrong location (to one i have never been to) on multiple occasions. When I tell them to send the order to my Home, they still charge me for shipping fees and call me to tell me my contacts are ready for pickup. On top of that, they call me 30 minutes before closing to let me know my contacts are ready so that I don't have time to get there and pick them up. The only positive thing about this place is the actual doctors - but everything else is so poorly handled. These positive reviews I am seeing on here must be made by fake accounts. read more

From calling to make an appointment to receiving my contact order took almost 4 months, dozens of calls, several visits to multiple locations and the involvement of the regional manager. There is no communication between staff or offices and the front desk staff are incredibly rude despite the fact that they can't answer the most basic of questions. I have always had a positive experience with Dr. Kretschmaier at the Pike Creek office. She is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, She listens to my concerns and recommends the best path forward for my eye health. Dr. K is patient in testing the different lenses to determine what kind of changes may be necessary to improve vision. She provides professional recommendations based on her findings and always values my input. The front desk personnel are efficient and friendly. However, I have found the contact lens department to be grossly inefficient and the cause for my three star rating. My trials lenses have been mislabeled and ordered incorrectly on more than one occasion. It is rare they provide me with the correct lenses. This has happened FOUR different times. I also find it perplexing that I'm always offered a trial lens that doesn't match the prescription. (They don't keep one quarter increases in stock but can order them.) The idea of the trial lens is to see if the increase (or decrease) in power helps your vision. Offering me something that doesn't match what the doctor prescribed is ludicrous, but it's happened at least three times now. Based on my experience, I would recommend the expertise of Dr. K at Simon Eye Pike Creek. I would NOT recommend anything in the contact lens department. Check the trials against the actual prescription (they can print it for you) and be cautious of ordering any lenses through Simon Eye at Pike Creek. read more

Absolutely loved the doctor visit and the professional setting of the office. HOWEVER, do not whatever you do order lens/frames from here. Complete and total SCAM...they sell you ray bans but don't send your lens to the ray ban factory so they are not engraved with the logo OR the correct and official ray ban color ... then when you want a refund they only do exchanges. I have been wearing the same contacts for several years now but the contact lens clerk wouldn't listen. This office is large, friendly staff, and I like the automated appointment reminders. HOWEVER, I came in for my annual eye exam today and was upfront with each individual that I only intended to get the preventive eye exam that was covered under my medical insurance. I also asked about renewing the contact prescription if no changes to my grade occurred, since my prescription expired a week ago, thereby preventing me from ordering contacts. It's worth mentioning that I have been wearing the same brand/strength of contacts all year long and didn't intend on changing brands (and still have a couple pairs), so I didn't need to be fitted for contacts. After my eye exam, I was walked over to the contact desk, was asked to put on contacts and then charged $25 for contact lens service. I should NOT have been charged. I should have complained, but I had a headache from being dilated. Therefore I'm writing this review to inform patients that these services should not catch us by surprise. I've been a patient at this office for 27 years (Dr. Simon himself was my eye doctor). I moved to Pennsylvania 12 years ago and I briefly switched eye doctors when I left my job in DE - since I was living and working in PA, it seemed way too inconvenient to drive all the way down there. I experienced nothing but aggravation with the doctors in PA, so I soon returned to driving down to Pike Creek. It's only once a year and the office has super convenient hours that allow me to do this without taking off work or leaving early. I read the other reviews and I'm not questioning their experiences, but this is definitely not the norm. First, I have noticed that they sometimes send you out to pick out glasses after dilating, but it's not out of malice, it's out of intended efficiency. If you simply make it known to them that you would like to pick out frames before having that done, they will make it happen. This is another area of this office that I am extremely loyal to - some of the staff has been there since I was a little girl and I still rely on them to help me pick out a good pair of frames. Second, I have been wearing contacts since I was 11 years old and I have gotten them through this office for all but two of the last 27 years and never once have they made an error on my lens order, my glasses, or my prescription for that matter. I have noticed that I seem to have a new doctor every year (probably mostly due to my scheduling needs) and I think I am one of those people that is starting to notice their age by the youth of their doctors. I admittedly get concerned every time I get one of these newer young doctors, but during my appointments I quickly realize that they are very knowledgeable about their field (which includes keeping up-to-date on medical issues that can affect eye health). Overall, going to the eye doctor is about as fun as getting a filling at the dentist, but since I have to go, I drive an hour south of my home to go to Simon Eye Associates because they do it better than most. read more

I just had the most pleasant experience with Simon eye under not so pleasant circumstances. I was out running errands and my boyfriend calls and says he got hit in the eye with a tennis ball at work (works at a school) and it is very painful and he can't really see out of it. I immediately think of the 4 hours we're about to spend at med express and head home. On my way home I called Simon eye on a wim, because i have only ever gone to have my prescription renewed or an eye exam, so I'm not thinking it's the place to call. Boy was I wrong. The girl in the call center was super nice and helpful and after seeing that their schedule was full, she called the front desk at the limestone location to see if they could squeeze us in. The front desk staff at limestone told me to head right over and they will be able to see him. So 10 minutes later we walk up and my boyfriend is clearly in a lot of pain and can't really even walk at this point bc the pain is so much that he has to close both eyes. Before we are in the door the girl at the front goes back to get a doctor so he can be seen right away, another staff member asks us to have a seat and within 5 minutes a doctor was out to get us front the waiting room and begin an exam right away. We have to go back again tomorrow for a follow up so the doctor we are seeing tomorrow also took time out of her schedule and came in to take a look today so she can compare. I have been a patient at Simon Eye Associates since the 90's (Dr. Simon or Senall was my doctor at one time) This has ALWAYS been an excellent place for me to have my eyes checked, glasses purchased and contacts fitted and found. Simon Eye found that I had Diabetic Retinopathy in its early stages and referred me to a retinal specialist. Eye Saver! Simon Eye has gone above and beyond my expectations with contact lens problems. After struggling with a brand of contacts for a while, they discovered I was alergic to the "moisturizer" added to lens and worked with me until we found lenses that I could wear. Simon Eye has encouraged me to go see my specialist, when I don't go when I should....kind of like a mom for my eyes. I have nothing but praise for Simon Eye Associates and visit their Union Street office annually. read more

Took my eight year old daughter here after she complained about having blurred vision when trying to read books and the board in her classroom. Dr. Gallo dilated her pupils and gave her lots of different charts to read, and concluded that she only needed reading glasses. Dr. Gallo failed to prescribe any reading glasses for my daughter, so I had to call this office back and ask them what the prescription for my daughter's reading glasses should be. My daughter's eye sight was still not up to par, so I took her elsewhere, where she was prescribed bi-focal glasses. The staff was friendly, and the office had a nice atmosphere, but I can care less about that when my school-age child has been misdiagnosed, and not prescribed glasses that were recommended on the spot. Now I have a pair of reading glasses that are not needed. I don't like wasting money and time! read more

I am a new customer to Simon Eye since my eye doctor of 25 years retired. My first appointment at the Concord Pike office went very smoothly. The doctor who examined my eyes was knowledgable and able to accomodate my complex eyesight issues. He was supportive of my desire to try tri-focal eyeglasses for the first time since bi-focals no longer cut it (they only give me distance and reading, but no mid-range). He also recommended bifocal contact lenses instead of the distance lenses I had been wearing, and he gave me a pair to try for a week. They are working well for me and I intend to order more rather than go back to wearing distance lenses and having to constantly put reading glasses over them. I also enjoyed working with the optician who helped me choose my frames. She was patient as I tried dozens of styles and she was very helpful in explaining my insurance coverage. I haven't received my new glasses yet, so I can't speak to the quality or timeliness of the product, but so far, my experience has been very positive. read more

They went ahead and filed the claim on my insurance and I only found out after months later when they sent me a bill for that after insurance denied. read more

Unbelivably bad experience. I have been trying to get contact lenses that correct my vision since August 2014. I have paid $290 for contacts,which I have in my possession and do not correct my vision. Simon Eye refuses to refund me for these lenses. I have a trial pair that corrects my vision. They continue to order samples and cannot correct...although the sample pair is perfect. Endless visits. Today, I showed for what they confirmed was a "2:15" appointment, only to be told that "your appointment was at "12:15." WOW... For seven months, I have had to wear a pair of trial lenses which are to be worn only for one month. The doctors are aware of this, but do not seem to be concerned. They keep telling me, "but this is your prescription," although I cannot see with the lenses. I have worn contact for over 30 years and have never had this type of experience. I really only want my money back so that I can go to another provider to get contact lenses that correct my vision. If you decide to go to Simon Eye, please do NOT pay in advance if you are getting contact lenses. I, as most people, cannot afford to put out this amount of money for nothing. I went for an appointment today and the buildings electricity had gone out right before my appointment. People couldn't get into the building and some couldn't get out. The Simon Eye team handle this tiny drama professionally and calmly. When the electricity came back on the quickly got things up and running. Afterwards, the machines were a little slow and they had to call things in. They were so friendly and calm through the process. This company has really awful follow-through. I requested an appointment online, and somebody was supposed to call me back. Never did. So more than a week later I call to schedule an appointment. I was told somebody would call me the day before the appointment to confirm my insurance. Never heard from anyone, so I finally call. I get transferred around. When I finally speak to someone, she is apologetic but is of no help. When I tell her I will call insurance myself, she hangs up on me. I cancelled my appointment after that. I had an eye exam in May and was escorted over to look at eye glasses. I picked out a pair of sunglasses and eye glasses (both prescription) which we're covered by insurance. The total for both, after insurance, was absurd! Original for my eyeglasses (light, single vision) before insurance was over $600!!? I've bought glasses from Simon in the past and realized I've always paid a lot of money even after insurance, which defeats the purpose, right?! I went home and looked up the frames online which were SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Needless to say, I called and cancelled my order. They only cancelled my sunglasses. I had to go back in twice to ask for the eyeglasses to be canceled at which both times they made me sign in and wait for a specialist to help me. No! Just cancel my order, eyeglass receptionist. Still didn't cancel and credit my insurance back. I had to call my insurance company to be put on hold so they could call Simon Eye directly and have them reverse it. Guess what? They told insurance it was completed (again)... but never actually did. Fast forward a month as I found a pair of glasses and sunglasses I like from Ray Ban (direct order) and went to use my insurance, Simon Eye still has not credited. Another call to insurance and placed on hold (again) to be told that Simon Eye (again) has credited. Let me add that when I went in person the first time to cancel, the specialist got very snarky with me because of the cancellation when I told her I'm going to go a more economical route (I.e. not paying Simon's ridiculous prices). When I was told by the specialist the first time that the cancellation was complete, she literally said "done" and verbally shoved me off without trying to make amends for customer service sake. And can we talk about the aggravating borderline harassment automated calls reminding you of your appointment? It was enough that I didn't want to go there anymore anyway. I feel the need to write a review after seeing so many negative ones. I have had nothing but great experiences with this place. First year went to get my eyes checked in 2015, I really only went to get green contacts. After checkup, the doctor told me that not only did I need glasses but I had astigmatism. I was shocked to say he least considering I didn't even realize there was something wrong in the first place. After telling me the news, I started to cry. She was very professional, very sweet, extended my appointment, sat with me to calm me down, and explained everything until I excepted it. In 2016, I had a different doctor and even though I didn't want one, she was just as awesome. Nothing but extremely helpful. I had to keep checking in with her because she was concerned that I may be allergic to my contacts. She went out of her way to make sure that not only my Contacts fit correctly, but to make sure that I was happy with how they felt- trying both monthly and daily contacts. Same year, after spending $700+ on frames and the lenses(I just wanted the best ones they had- what I paid does not reflect their prices), I settled Tiffany frames but kept coming back because I he did not like them. I couldn't find any that I liked. I kept going back frustrated because I couldn't find. Basically, I was that girl that kept coming back with nothing but frustration and attitude. If I was a part of Simons team, I would have not have been too happy with me, and I would have not tried to help me. They did the complete opposite, after blaming them for absolutely everything that wasn't their fault, they still tried and DID everything in their Power to help me get the glasses that I wanted... they even made it so I had an extra month to take them back if I ever found a pair that I did like. The team and the doctors there are efficient, kind-hearted, great at what they do, EXTREMELY HELPFUL, and I definitely would recommend this place to anyone that wants to get new glasses, contacts, or your eyes checked. Terrible place for anything but eye exams. People that work there are inept and rude at times, placing appointments that don't exist( I found out after cataract surgery, there was NO follow up appointment after one was made, and now I end up getting a real opthamologist for any follow up appointments due to their care free attitude.
