I've found that gas stations in those towns are occasionally gathering places for locals and one of the best places to get the inside scoop on the town. This Shell was located in the heart of downtown Folsom, but I didn't get that small town vibe. The convenience store was well stocked and I was easily able to find some beef jerky and a powerade. There was also a counter selling Krispy Fried Chicken which I've noticed as a trend in small town stations. I have no idea if it is any good, but there was lots of it under heating lamps in the display case. The cashier was friendly, but not overly so. Next time I am in Folsom I will have to pick a different store to see if it fits my needs.

There's always a small line at this gas stations deli, so you know they got the goods. These dude's sell fresh seafood, you can it cooked, or fresh. I always go by here on my way home from Louisiana. When I'm talking about a road trip snack, I'm not talking about slim Jim's, day old burger, or chips. I'm talking crab legs, shrimp, crawfish pies, fresh fried juicy catfish! Boiled shrimp was cooked perfectly, wasn't overcooked swimming in that seasoning. They were frying shrimp and catfish when I walked in. $10 for a box of 5 catfish filets, and 10 jumbo shrimp, it was nice and crispy, needed a tad more seasoning, but great price! Catfish was big, and it was flaky juicy goodness. Giant Turkey wing for $2.49 so why not? Add that to my cart I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it wasn't bad.
