I usually cut my son's hair but we had grown a mullet and I didn't want to mess it up, especially since my son has really dark, stubborn Asian hair - it'd be easy to find the imperfections. The lady who cut his hair was fast (took probably 20 min total). She knew exactly what kind of cut I wanted (2 block hair cut). And because his hair was so long in the back, she double checked before cutting that I wanted to cut it off (much appreciated!). My son's hair was short on the top so she didn't cit length but did blend it (see pics). The place itself was clean and spacious. The cut itself was $45 without a wash, which is a couple dollars cheaper than other places I was looking up. I'd come here again.

Before the haircut, I clearly explained that I had just gotten my hair cut at another salon two…read moredays earlier and that I wasn't looking for a completely new haircut--I only wanted some adjustments to achieve the style shown in the photos of me before. I specifically asked if the stylist understood the issue and knew what needed to be done, and I was assured that they did. Unfortunately, once the haircut started, there was no communication about how much hair would be removed. The very first cut on the sides was much shorter than I expected, and at that point there was no way to undo it. If the stylist had explained their approach or confirmed the length with me first, I would have had the opportunity to say that it wasn't what I wanted. What disappointed me most wasn't just the final result--it was the lack of communication. When a customer brings reference photos and asks questions beforehand, I expect the stylist to explain the plan and make sure we're aligned before making irreversible changes. I left feeling that my concerns and the reference photos were not really taken into account. I hope the salon can improve communication with customers in the future so others don't have the same experience.

Let me tell you that this place was the MOST I've ever paid for hair coloring and balayage in my life and I've gone to Master hair colorists at luxury salons in the bay area too. Did the prices for hair products increase with Trump too??!? Sheesh. They were nice, talked me through the right shade for the balayage according to my skin tone and then she proceeded to take out a calculator to show me the cost. I was pretty shocked to see the cost, but I already made arrangements to get my hair colored that day so I begrudgingly agreed to proceed. Maybe I should have negotiated or asked if that total included tip? My hair is medium length and layered and the ash blonde/brown came out really nice, but I am still kicking myself for paying this much. I would have expected a nice head massage, complimentary tea or something for paying this much with a balayage, but it was a professional balayage with basic service/experience.

LONG LAYERS?? GO SEE LEO!!…read more I took my teenage daughter to Hair Logic in the Marina Plaza and Leo did an absolute amazing job! She wanted long layers with a butterfly cut to add movement and shape without losing her overall length. Leo really listened to what she wanted, offered great advice on face-framing layers, and nailed the look! It has so much bounce, volume, and effortless flow now, and my daughter hasn't stopped smiling since we walked out. We loved the experience so much that I am actually going back to get my own hair cut by Leo. Highly recommend this salon!

The owners do the hair and seamlessly trade off to help one another out. I like the focus to just be about my hair and this salon does that and does it well. This is the kind of place I can regularly come to, know I will get the same stylists, and most importantly come out satisfied with quality every time. Last of all, the pandemic reminded me of how important it is to support local and family owned businesses. So this is one I plan to continue to be a patron.

I followed Jenny from her previous salon because I dont trust just anyone with my hair. I have even moved across the bay and still choose to come to her for everything because she is that good. The quality of service you get from Salon Sur La Rue and the handwork delivered is worth every penny... and know that it is not on the high end of the market. Jenny truly knows how to create the haircut and color exactly how I want it every time.
