If you're going to operate in a town where you know a lot of your clientele has a two-hour ticking clock before their train leaves, you've got to be on the ball. Seeing how good the cheese board looked, we started with that as an appetizer. We figured it would give us something to munch on while we were waiting for the rest of our food. Not so much. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and my wife ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. After ordering all our food and waiting a long time, I saw another table get their cheese board at the same time as their entrees. I flagged down our waiter to see if we'd get our appetizer before our entrees. He went to check, and the cheese board came out...at the same time as our sandwiches. What's the deal here? Nobody wants their appetizer as part of their meal. For the record, the cheese board was big, good, and filling. My chicken sandwich was great, and my wife liked her turkey avocado sandwich as well. Fries were better than chips. We just needed things spaced out a bit. Our waiter came back by and said, "Wow! You two must've been hungry, as you ate that really fast." Well buddy, we've got a train to catch!

I told her I was taking my time choosing because my hotel room wasn't ready. She sneered at me "why don't you go to the library?" I almost walked out but instead bought the wine I was holding. She rudely checked me out, asked where I was from, and glared at me as I walked out. Sorry, I'll take my chances elsewhere, not patronizing this business ever again.

There's a great selection of local product here, and I was able to find several types of hard ciders brewed in Colorado. Plenty of beer, both craft and your bigger name brands, great liquor options covering all your basics, and an awesome array of wine (several whites were also available cold, if you preferred). I'd say the prices here are a bit higher than average since you're in a touristy mountain town, but that's to be expected. It's another cute little mountain-village shop, like most of the surrounding businesses. We decided to walk across the street to Ridway Liquors to quickly grab a few things while Adam's family was buying fishing gear for the next morning. Adam and I were watching Adam's 5 year old cousin (Lina) at this moment in time, so she went with us (I don't normally take small children with me into liquor stores, don't worry). Anyway, the woman at the register was so sweet and offered Lina a sucker from the big bowl on the counter, and let her take 2 more to give to her siblings. I really enjoyed the laid back, family-friendly, and inviting atmosphere. There is nothing sketchy about Ridway Liquors. Great little spot and I look forward to returning sometime.
