Went here for the first time on a Saturday night, first time going to a gay strip club. Mostly everything was great, had a few hot guys that caught my eye and there were lots of people having fun. My only complaint is with the stripper who is very obviously straight since he ignored the guys and only paid attention to the girls. Some friends and I meandered in here and I have regretted it ever since. There is a cover charge, we give them a car which they don't take. We are pulling money out of the ATM by the entrance. They said for everyone to wait by the entrance. The machine isn't working so it's taking a while to pull money out. I see a guy wearing a shirt, all of 4 feet from entrance and ask him where he got it to make small talk while we are waiting. This large LARGE woman with something to prove, because why not, comes over to me and says "you were told to wait by the entrance". My reply was, I did because I WAS. And we were pulling money out at the behest of the bar, so I didn't understand why we were having this problem. She immediately pulled a power trip and some tragic twink guy that worked there pulled Ugly Security guard solidarity and asked us to leave before we even entered. Garbage place and really put a damper on our trip for absolutely nothing. I didn't wonder outside a 4 foot proximity from the front door! This was all a power trip from some garbage person. I really hope that Silverado finds new digs. They provide a fun, safe space for a lot of Portland's gay and queer population. Silverado is a bit louder and raunchier than Stag, but it's also a larger venue. You get to hear some really good amateur singing on the karaoke side of the bar. Two LGBTQ delights in one location: exotic dancing and amateur singing. The bartenders, dancers and other staff members are very nice guys who make sure that you enjoy the occasion. Who knew that going to a gay strip club would make me question my sexual mores if not sexuality. Somehow plans of dancing & grooving to the mellow strains of trip hop were coopted into a night of singular firsts: my first gay strip club, utilizing unisex communal bathrooms with nary a stall door in sight, & near immolation from excessive blushing. While I can see the cheeky good fun of eating succulent medium-rare steak while chatting up friendly fun-loving female strippers at other clubs, even the haze of booze doesn't seem to make the male equivalent of gravity-dependent jiggling do much for me except pray for spontaneous combustion. Which makes me wonder, have I just been confused all my life or has a steady diet of Captain Hook irrevocably altered my tastes? Don't get me wrong, the dancers here could easily be spokesmodels for Soloflex with their 3-5% body fat & washboard abs but call me an old fashioned gal cuz despite all the practiced gyrations, I find myself more intrigued by the "less (exposure) is more" school of thought than the "bare all" philosophy. More alluring & less revealing. As for the unisex exhibitionist bathrooms, I suspect they may involve acrobatics of the not-so-Ally-Mcbeal-variety. So far this would bring the tally to a whopping 2 stars but they get a whole extra star for bringing the principles of economics together with your after-hours hijinks. Yup, there's nothing like slipping dollar bills to your partners in crime & watching them repopulate those teeny tiny boy shorts as well as influence stripper migration patterns. And with $2 well drinks & a $2 cover on a Thursday night, there'll be plenty of trickle-down economics & migration demonstrations to go around. One a recent trip to Portland I decided to visit this place with a friend out of curiosity. Not typical of my interest, but hey, why not get to experience some of Portland's famous stripper history with a twist! This place was surprisingly fun and clean. There is a large bar area upstairs, which was mostly empty given that all the action happens in a separate smaller area downstairs. Once downstairs one encounters a variety of performers both on stage and walking the floor. There were some, actually really talented, handsome, and skilled performers on stage. Some did end up with full frontal exposure. The bartenders were friendly, and drinks are strong. We didn't partake in any of the action and just observed, but didn't experience any lesser quality of service or pushy performers because of it. Though of course, in hindsight, it is best one let go and partake in the action given the nature of the place. A fun experience that actually was the most solid out of any other clubs/bars we experienced in the downtown area. read more

Silverado has long been a gay dive bar. It features strong drinks and male strippers. Over the year many people have tried and failed to compete. Now there is Stag. It features most of the Silverado talent in a smaller space with a more upscale feel. Last time I was there Silverado did not have enough strippers to go around. I've never been to Portland, I'm not from around here. But I've been to just a few big cities like Phoenix, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Los Angeles. I always wanted to see full nude men, not because I'm a perv, not because I'm gay, but because I find it very pleasing, unique, and beautiful. Straight men have their full nude girl clubs, where's our full nude men for the gays?! Never have I seen a gay strip club so interesting, entertaining, and exotic. Not only for gays but for anyone curious enough to have a different experience in gay culture. Everywhere I've traveled, I just couldn't find a place with full frontal. I searched, googled, yelped, and nothing. It's like they say, "let it come to you," and it did. It was St Patrick's Day and I flew to Portland in the morning to visit my best friend Stacy. We explored and spent the whole day discovering the city. We looked up local events for the night and took an Uber to Paddy's Bar and Grill. That place was a joke. After spending more time and money than we needed to, we left that silly bar and started walking towards Shanghai to meet up with other friends. During our walk, I saw a gay flag sticking out proudly from a discrete building. I said, "hey lets go in here and check it out really quick! It must be a gay club!" Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into. We walked into a small crowd, the stage was near the front with slim and fit guys dancing with each other on it, teasing everyone by either almost showing a few parts or just going all out nude. I have to give a TON of credit for how they worked in pairs, climbing high on the pillar with the pipelines along the sides (compared to using a single pole!). There was a very handsome Clark Kent looking guy that had me with my mouth open... A lot of these guys were total jaw droppers. Anyways, we were able to get $1 PBRs (and they were green!) got some private dances for a really good price (private dances won't disappoint). It wasn't raunchy or dirty. They were so artistic and beautiful, keeping great coordination and posture, I was so blown away. It was nice to see some strong confident men dancing and stripping naked. It's almost something I've been looking into doing myself, they're very inspiring. Overall, Stacy and I were very impressed and felt so welcomed. We just spent the rest of our night there and forced our friends to come over and enjoy the fun. For my first day it Portland, it was pretty amazing. But I'm really REALLY happy that I finally got to visit a gay all nude strip club. I hope to visit this place again soon and I'll definitely be telling everyone about it back home! read more

I've been going to Silverado's since it was in its old location. I used to really like the new location too and it's still okay, but it's really gone downhill from what it used to be like. Around '07 and '08, I had a good friend who could come visit Portland and we would go here for a wild, crazy night. Many of the strippers would get completely naked and dance for a while like that. There were friendly male servers in underwear who would bring us drinks. It was a blast. I then moved away from Portland for a few years. Flash forward to me moving back to PDX about a year ago and I finally go back to Silverado, twice in the past two months. I was really shocked by the changes. They moved the stage and completely changed the stage show. Now it's more like a coy tease, with a few dancers briefly showing the goods off and on. About half the dancers don't show the goods and just flash their butts while shaking them to the music. Lame. You're either a strip club or you're not. The waiters are gone too. The bartenders and dancers are very friendly, the drinks are good and the atmosphere is still fun, but this place is nowhere near as great as it used to be. read more

Ok we are visitors from California and we are gay but we did not witness any of things mentioned by the low rating yelp reviewers. Not saying it didn't happen to them but I was very discouraged from coming here because of reading those reviews first. I'm glad that we did stop by. In fact, we had such a great time we came back the next night, Friday and Saturday. Although, the guys were the same both nights and I think they were on the same schedule too. Which was perfect because we got to catch "Aladdin" both nights. Such a hottie, probably straight, by the way he dances. But who cares, he looked like he really enjoyed himself, and so did we lol. Cover was only $4 and $10 for VIP which I think means you get balcony seating. After you pay, they stamp your wrist. So if you do go out, that's your proof that you paid. Or perhaps maybe they have a no "in and outs" rule which is common. Also, they have a sign posted before you get in "We do not discriminate....if you are here, you are here with queer." There were a good amount of girls there that I'm assuming were straight and they were having a great time even tipping the strippers too. Drinks were cheap and good. I think there is a stripper for anyone's type. You can even get a lap dance upstairs but we were shy in asking. we wanted to visit silverado for a drink during pride month, and did so yesterday around noon, all masked up and sitting outdoors......i had a corona, and my partner had the bloody mary....the bartender and customers were the friendliest and funny....we toasted pride with them too....she was real happy with the bloody mary as we sat outdoors people watching...the music was fabulous and the space perfect for covid 19 outdoors....be sure to tip big during these challenging times...thx so much! read more

This place is creepy and disgusting at the same time. The strippers are whatever but a small step-up from criagslist.org men. Every so often there will be a good stripper above the norm but then he slowly turns into the norm. The bar doesn't take credit cards & charges outrageous ATM fees so make sure you bring cash before you arrive. The crowd is perverted men of all ages but it's a strip club so it's not a surprise. It was every bit as sleazy as foretold to me, but I was impressed with the quality of said sleaze. As a woman, who has spent a significant time over the years at this bar, I find myself significantly qualified to leave an honest review. Here's the rundown. This is a bar. A gay bar. Is there discrimination here towards women? Abso-freaking-lutely. Can you earn respect by not being a screaming, drunk, sloppy mess, giggling at man butts and tipping the talent respectfully? You sure can! This bar is full of all types. Alllll types. I've met some great, fun people here and I have met some absolute freaks. You'll see people here from age 21 to age 105. But guess what... That's the beauty of this place. You never know what you will see or over hear, from the dancers to the customers, to the bar staff (who are absolutely some of the most amazing people ever, btw). The bathroom on the bar side has no doors, so have fun with that. People are pretty respectful about not being creeps for the most part. The restrooms on the lounge side have doors but they don't lock. Can't really blame the Silverado. It's a gay male strip club that serves booze... DUH. I've still walked in on some awkward stuff. I took one star off because it's 2015 and they still only take cash. Other than that this is a great place to come on a weekend. And ladies reviewing about this place on yelp...
