I was in Portland for a conference and made a point to check out STAG PDX to soak in some local gay culture. I'm really glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was welcoming and fun. I was greeted by Alex, a tall, stunning bartender who was in his first week on the job and still learning the ropes. You never would've known it, though. He was charming, warm, and somehow remembered both my name and my drink every time I came back to the bar. That kind of care goes a long way, especially when you're traveling solo. The dancers were honestly impressive . Every performer clearly put thought and intention into their routines. One of the performers, Lynx, really stood out to me. I assumed they were non-binary and Latinx, and later learned their name. Their presence and performance were powerful and memorable. I'm from Chicago and go to my local go-go bar pretty regularly, but I have yet to see the kind of diversity in talent that I experienced at STAG. Bodies, genders, expressions, cultures--it was all there, and it was celebrated. I'm really glad I stopped in. Spaces like this matter. If our community had more places that truly showcased the beauty of our diversity the way STAG does, I genuinely believe it could change the world--at least a little. P.S. Let's just say that this isn't just a standard LGBTQ+ bar and I was rather surprised what I walked into lol. Somewhat similar to Corner Pocket in New Orleans but a bit more routine. They had indoor and outdoor drinking spaces outside in the front. The bartenders were super nice and the drink specials were more than fair. All in all it was a fun time and we had a good time. 10/10 would recommend! We decided to do their drag brunch on a Saturday and it did not disappoint. For $35, we got an all-you-can-eat buffet that had delicious food on top of a three-hour show. From cookies n cream waffles, with fresh fruit and sides, to drag queens dancing on roller skates, we would absolutely come back. Please note this wasn't a regular drag show, it was so much more. Yes they did have queens lip singing and dancing, but they also had a comedy portion, a live singer with original songs, the cook on a stripper pole and a roller skating queen. Had fun with a friend, like a mother, for Mother's Day Drag Brunch. You can feel that morning ga aren't for all the performers, but props to even the hung over ones for putting on a surprisingly good show. They also added a bit of male stripping, which made for some interesting reactions among some. The food was ok. Not bad. The mimosa was good. You need to bring cash. I mean, there's an ATM but fees! Disgraceful. Either scammy bartender, or management asking the staff to do illegal things. Pride 6/18/22 I joined clients at Stag for drinks. I ordered drinks for all of us, my card was swiped. Because I had joined CLIENTS for an event, I needed a receipt for tax purposes, but I wasn't offered one. I asked if the outside bar also had access to my card, and the bartender with the Mayan tattoo shoulder piece had maybe assumed I would make my way to both. He VERBALLY CONFIRMED that was the case, which made sense because it's illegal for a bar to have two different POS systems. So I went outside with my card, ordered more drinks for me and clients, only to be offered a receipt by the bartenders at the "block party." I was suspicious, but didn't want to assume one of the few queer bars in town would be so stupid. However, I still needed my first receipt to be able to write it off, and I wasn't able to tip the first bartender. I head back inside, wait, and when I'm finally helped , I order one more drink, and ask to close my tab, to which I'm told I don't have a tab. I inquire what that means, and am told I have to wait. I wait, but while I'm waiting, another gentleman tells me his partner also wasn't offered a receipt, and he was curious why. I catch the bartender again, and tell him I need a receipt so I can write it off and tip him, to which he tells me the outside bar iPad is where I need to close my receipt? And, there is an automatic charge of 20% for gratuity, which I absolutely did not consent to, and, I'm attaching a screen shot of the event description where they absolutely do not mention a additional 20% added to all tabs. I told him that is fraudulent if he can't provide me with my receipt, which is harsh, but true. During this time I watch at least 7 other patrons get their cards swiped, and the iPad turned to them so they can add gratuity. This is beyond taking advantage of patrons on a weekend that's suppose to celebrate lgbtq+, it's shameful and disgusting. read more

It's Clean & the Staff at that time was 100% Hospitable & very Friendly to me & My sub who was in Gear with his Hood & Leashed! (It's how we travel in and around Portland Downtown!) We were not snickered at or looked down upon as we are in other places. They just let us be ourselves and were not into our lives.....Like they were at the PDX Eagle when we went there once awhile back...(We won't be Going to PDX Eagle anytime soon that's for sure!) Anyways.......It wasn't very busy at that time we went, they had just opened and were preparing for the Evening....In saying that..... I've walked by this place numerous times on a Sunday around 11am-1:30pm and never stopped in but I could hear the Crowd inside cheering away at the Drag Performers inside as they do their Job of Entertaining for Sunday Drag Brunch, (A necessity for all Gay Bars on Sundays!) Back to my visit.....We stopped by and had a couple of Sunday Beers from the tap....It was Happy Hour & the Draft Beer was half off. That would be half off of 5.00 dollars ($2.50 for a true High Pint) If I may say.....The Main Bar Tender at this time was an Anatomically Superior male in Looks & Service! What fun! Went out to their Sunday Drag Brunch hosted by Angel Phoenix and it was such a blast! The performances were spectacular, the Angel was hilarious, and my god did those queens work it!! Enjoyed the morning so much and felt like it was a great way to spend the Sunday. I reserved and prepaid online for a table, and sure enough when we got there, there was a table with my name on it! The doors opened at 11am but the show didn't start until 12:30. The brunch buffet was open around 12 and was full of brunch staples like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, biscuits, gravy, fruit, and more. The food was honestly pretty tasty and when you think about the fact that the show + brunch was only $15 a person, it's super worth it! Drinks were $3 bottles of mini champagne plus a mixer like orange juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. Stag PDX is located in an easy to find and lively area and in the morning parking was not hard to find in front. The place was quite small, but it was a great vibe inside and out everyone there was a lot of fun. The jokes can get quite inappropriate, so be prepared and this may not be the place for you if you aren't a fan of dirty jokes. There also were some interactive parts of the show which were fun too. Overall, this place was awesome and all of us who went loved it - we are even thinking of making it a tradition for ringing in the new year! Can't recommend enough if you want a drag brunch in Portland. Great for anyone over 21! Can't speak to the night time happenings, but for at least one Sunday morning, it's a must. Came on a Thursday night to meet a friend, I will say I don't think I knew what I was getting myself into when I showed up. I got here early and there were a couple people hanging around drinking and socializing. After a couple hours it got pretty poppin, especially when the dancers started, it seemed to me that this place mostly attracts locals and most of the people there seemed to know each other. There was a mixed bag of talent among the dancers (body types, outfits, dance style, pronouns etc..) so if you're looking for a rock hard star studded cast you might go somewhere else. Compared to other strip clubs this place had a very down to earth/homey vibe. I'd be curious to come on a Fri/Sat night or even the drag brunch to get a more well rounded idea of how they operate during busy hours since people commented mostly on the service. Had the unfortunate experience of attending Stag last night for New Year's Eve. What a mistake! Where to start? We bought tickets for the "drag show" but no drag show ever happened just a drag MC (who was one of the only highlights of the night). The shirtless bartenders and most of the dancers looked like they never set foot in the gym a day in their life. This is an amazing atmosphere if you are looking for a fun drag brunch! I have gone to two shows and I have never been disappointed. The performers are BADASS and putting on a show of a lifetime. They never disappoint and you can never go wrong with $1 mimosas The performers really know how to make the crowd go wild! I highly recommend getting tickets early because they do sell out fast! It had the most welcoming vibe, I had a chance to talk with the cook and some of his recipes were that of his grandmas and I thought that is special there was passion and love in his food. It's important for me to support queer businesses so it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. I went in alone, visiting from out of state. Ordered a beer at the bar. Took a 4 second video of a gogo dancer on the stage, he was wearing full length pants and no shirt and was doing some dance moves with ropes from the ceiling. I thought it looked cool so I wanted to post it in an Instagram story. But as soon as I took the video, I got confronted by another dancer who got in my face and started yelling at me that I did not ask permission personally from the dancer on stage to take the video. I was truly confused as I never heard of this at any gay bar (or any bar in general). Usually when someone performs on a stage the expectation is that some people will take pictures or videos. I looked around to double check and there were no signs about photography. The two security people at the door who collected the cover charge didn't tell me anything about this policy when I arrived. The bartender didn't say anything either as I ordered my drink. I responded calmly that I will delete the video, but the angry staff person was still going, he yelled back "You SHOULD delete it! That's not cool!" Still confused, I deleted the video and decided to chug the rest of my beer and leave the place. I step outside and I realize that I am being followed by the dancer who was on stage. He got off the stage and ran after me to also confront me outside about the video. I was stunned by how comfortable they were being this aggressive with me but at the same time I never want to take a picture of anyone without their consent so I told myself that maybe I am missing something here and I stayed calm. To his credit the dancer was angry but not as demeaning as the other one. He asked me in a confrontational manner why I took the video, I felt stumped by the question. Why did I take a 4 second video of a gogo dancer on stage at a gay bar? In my home state, people are encouraged to take pics and videos of performers, selfies etc, and tag the bar on social media, I really wanted to ask him what their problem was but I simply said "You were performing, I took a short video, but I already deleted it, and there were no signs anywhere about photography." The dancer then says that at some point they announced it over the microphone. I told him I missed the announcement as I had just gotten there. I thought to myself, the bar was still accepting new patrons after this earlier announcement (even while I was talking to him some more people arrived to the bar), so what's the plan for everyone who arrived after this one announcement about the no video policy, were they gonna scream in those customers' faces as well if any of them took out their phone to take a picture of a show at a bar? I could see he was really angry so, without him asking, I pulled out my phone for him, opened the picture and video gallery and he looked at my pictures and when he saw there were none of him he went back inside. Maybe they are just disorganized, but I doubt it. A simple "I'm sorry sir you can't take videos here" or any type of warning would have been enough without the hostility and the drama of chasing me out the bar. If you are a person of color I do not recommend this bar for you. read more

I've been a customer of The Stag for years and it's one of my favorite places to go when I go out. There have been a few times where I felt like I was being ignored by some of the dancers, but for the most part the dancers, the bartenders, and the staff are super friendly. The drinks are nice and the dancers are hot. Right now I would say it's better than it's ever been. My only complaint is that I wish that there was more seating or at least more standing room so I don't feel like I'm always on top of someone. Cover was $5 a person. Private dances are $20 for a song, is a fun experience, and omg the talent of the dancers on the poles! If you could find a comfy seat with a view- which don't exist unless you get the one or two seating areas near stage- it's a fun time. Don't recommend it for those with crowd anxiety or who despise bars where they have to squeeze past other patrons like it's Mardis Gras in NOLA. read more

So we went to the bar at stagg asand they have dancers and they required me to tip every dancer well that's not my perogative if im gnna give service to their bar I choose who to tip who I want to. its my money not theirs! their service is horrible and I give them 1 star for this bad service for the dancers bad attitude and complaining about his bad performance. I have gone to Stag multiple times and have to say Kimberly is one of the best drag queen host they have. Very personable, humorous and entertaining. I always try to make it out on Saturdays when she hosts. There's really no contest, whatsoever, in the which-Portland-gay-strip-club-is-better contest: it's STAG. Friendly staff, acceptable drink selection, intimate environment (without being too claustrophobic or creepy) and a multi-culti roster of athletic, appealing strippers. There's basically a flavor for every taste, and the shorter, dual strip sets provide an ample amount of ongoing eye candy. While it is legal in Portland for strippers to truly let-it-all-hang-out, it's my experience that, at least in the earlier part of the evening, the performers keep the tube steak in their pouches and leave the particulars up to the dirty minds of the patrons--which is as it should be. The art of striptease--particularly the art of male go-go dancing--has seemed on the decline in the last couple of decades, but the men of STAG are doing a pretty damn good job of keeping the tease alive; thank god. As another Yelper has remarked, the presence of bachelorette parties is a buzzkill and yeah, I wish they'd go back to their straight pub crawls and stay outta the few bars we have remaining...but that's the way of the world. If we insist on the homophobes baking our wedding cakes, I guess we gotta let the drunk brides-to-be into our strip clubs. Special shout-out to strippers Ira & Pine (applauding those hipster names!) and Brody, who kept it all friendly, professional and very, very entertaining. A group of friends and I were visiting Portland for the weekend and trying to celebrate 2 of their birthdays. We had a large group of friends visiting so it was hard to accommodate with Covid precautions. We went out to a couple places and had an Ok time, but we tried out Stag on Saturday and we had the most fun that you can imagine!!! The dancers were friendly, the bartenders were friendly, the bar backs quickly clear your table and make sure you are ok, and the owner is PHENOMENAL!!!!! He is on site and actually walked up to our table and made sure that we were having a good time, along with making sure that his staff was treating us right. He didn't know that we were from out of town until we told him and even checked on us and other tables throughout the night. He also makes sure that his employees feel comfortable and have the necessities that they need to have a smooth/ fun night. If you want a bar with a great atmosphere and AMAZING staff, make sure you check Stag out!!! Yes it does have a capacity during COVID, but they try to accommodate as much as they can! You will not regret visiting here and their dancers are great...especially Bailey...he is super friendly, will interact with your party, and will not pressure you to tip.
