We rented a pontoon for Fathers Day Weekend and had an awesome time. The young woman assigned to us was friendly, knowledgeable and quick in meeting our questions & needs. We did a walk-through and noted any damage to the prop, which she marked down on her clipboard. She gave us a map of the lake and showed us where we could dock and eat. They lowered the Bimini top for us and we were on our way. Great experience with no problems upon returning. The only thing worth noting is that it is not handicap accessible. You have to walk down the side of the Inn @ Silver Suites, on a gravel road around to the back. Then, you need to walk over the half submerged plank to get on the dock. I wouldn't have paid much attention except for the fact that we came with my mother-in-law who struggled getting to the boat. Overall, we would definitively rent from then again! read more

Rented a pontoon boat via the web during the month of August. When we arrived at the marina we were the only customers there. We asked if we could upgrade to a larger engine and pay the difference. We were told that it was not possible, unless we were to rent an entire other boat. It is worth noting that there were boats with larger engines that sat in the marina all day. The radio and depth finder did not work during the rental time. We found out later, the marina staff did not turn on the power for the depth finder, which is why we thought those devices were broken. Once the boat's interior, the tube, and life jackets got wet, they smelled of urine. When we returned the boat, we informed them that the devices on the boat were not working. They asked who helped us. We asked if we could at least apply the rental property coupon to the cost of the rental for the inconvenience. We were told no. I think the customer service there could be improved, especially on a weekday when the marina is not crowded. We were also charged over $100 in "fees". We asked for an itemization of the fees, and they said they could not do that. So, know whatever price you see, add $100 to that price, and use coupons up front. All that said, we did have a nice day on the water with our kids. They had fun, and the boat was safe. We will probably try a different marina next time. read more

Rented a boat for my bachelor party, the boat didn't have a working horn and we let them know and they said it wasn't a problem, got on the water and realized the speakers didn't work kinda a buzz kill. I was told to talk to Tyler I guess he's in charge worst customer service of my life. He laughed in my face and told me it was my fault for not returning the boat. Rented up pontoon boat for the Fourth of July and spent two days on the lake with my family. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, despite their youth. Only reason they lost a star was for requiring me to pull into one of two slips with access to a fuel pump upon return. First time boat renter and I can say I was not disappointed with the boat!! We rented a 12 person pontoon boat for 3 days. It was pricey but after the fact I am still glad we rented it! Boat was beautiful, seated everyone comfortably, had GPS and a kick ass Bluetooth stereo system. My only issue was that the gas gauge was broken so I was lucky to not have ran out of gas after hours!! I wish I can give ZERO stars to this place. This is a shame to the boat rental business and a complete robbery. Staff is completely unprofessional and disrespectful to customers. Charged ridiculous damage fee for 150$ for a tube handle that was ripped off on the first ride. The tube looked like it was used at least 10 times but the rude staff kept arguing that it was new. One star because Staff are friendly BUT... We rented a pontoon knowing that the capacity was 12 and there was no restriction on families. We were 12 in my family. When we got there, we were told that only 10 people are allowed. we cannot cancel the reservation because of their policies. we asked other rentals about the restriction, they all said the restriction was lifted already. They DID NOT GAVE US A CHOICE but to use it and deal with it. We ended up splitting my family and rent another pontoon on Bill's Marine. waste of money. Silver Tree Marine gave us an old pontoon. the leather seats are busted and it was slow. I do not know if this is all their boat but compare to the one that Bills' Marine gave us, Silver Tree Marine's boat was OLD. The fuel was not included in the rental. they charge 20 cents more than Bill's marine. to some up, just try another rental. they maybe a litte more money but worth it. read more

Overall, it was not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend using them. Pros: We were staying in the adjoining Silver Tree Landing and found that our rental house came with a 10% off coupon since we're staying in the off season. We were able to walk over to the docks easily. Jian told us that we could rent kayaks for 4 hours instead of a full day (8 hours). Cons: When we picked up the kayaks, they are in horrible shape. We rented 4 tandem kayaks and each one had at least one broken part. Seats were completely ripped out of the plastic anchors, some of the seat fabric was shredded, footholds were missing (making it extremely difficult to brace for paddling), covered in dirt & cobwebs. The kayaks looked to be about 10 years old and neglected. Half of the life vests were new, but the other half were covered in mildew and looked very aged. My family of 4 agreed to take 2 of the broken kayaks because it was the only afternoon we had while in DCL to be on the water & we figured it was only 4 hours. Big mistake. Thankfully we didn't sink like another reviewer, but it was very difficult to paddle when we weren't able to brace properly. The other family we were with decided to cancel their reservation because ALL 6 remaining double kayaks were also broken. They then rented from High Mountain Sports & we met up at the beach at DCL State Park. The kayaks from High Mountain were SO much nicer - clean & better newer equipment all around. And the daily rental rate at High Mountain is the same daily rate as Silver Tree. The 10% discount was NOT worth it. Save the hassle and avoid Silver Tree Marine. read more

This was quite the experience. I rented a pontoon boat and upon picking it up, they were unable to start it. Because of this, they put my group in a "upgraded" pontoon boat, but insisted that we needed to swap it out once they were able to get the broken one going. Fairly off-putting by itself. If I rented a car from Enterprise and the one they wanted to put me in had an issue, they wouldn't put me in a different one and tell me I needed to swap it out with the broken one when it was fixed, I'd just keep the one they put me in. In any event, the first boat was great for the day. The next morning, the swapped out the boats. They didn't call to tell us when they were doing it, so we had no idea when it happened. Really poor communication. The one we received was definitely difficult to start still, but we managed. Upon returning it at the end of the week, we were told we needed to pay for 100% of the gas on the original boat and new boat. I brought up the fact that there was extra gas burned due to the multiple trips they had to make and the fact that I cannot confirm all they did upon picking up the first boat was driving directly back, and all they could do was shrug their shoulders. They legitimately couldn't care less, I was genuinely shocked. I would HIGHLY recommend you use a different provider in the area for your rental needs. read more

Silver Tree Marina is such a,great place to do business with. I gas up there and the young adults are so friendly and on top of their game. When you pull in they are so personable and knowledgeable about boats. It's very apparent they grew up around boats so they are good with them and how to help others when docking etc... They remember my name and I've noticed they remember others. Sally, Patton, Matt, Jen, Jenny, Lauren, Declan and all the others really work hard. They are very personable and nice. I never considered tipping a person at the gas Docks but I do now because they do such a great job. I once rented a pontoon boat there and it was clean and ran well. Unless I bought a new one I could not ask for m9re from a basic 50hp rental boat. I never checked to see if the radio worked but I did not really expect it to work since it has been a rental on water. I did make sure the fuel Guage worked and it was fine. I've had Silver Tree Marine service my boat. Very impressive. Chris, Brian and Travis were all very helpful servicing my boat at the dock and in my driveway of my house. Chris is a very good technician and I was very impressed. I own a well known repair shop in the DC area and I would hire Chris in a second. Good luck and thanks for reading. read more

This summer, they did an equally fantastic job upgrading our boat's sound system and propeller. Staff are prompt and responsive, have a can-do attitude, and gladly field questions and talk through options. Recently rented a pontoon boat and kayak from Silver Tree while at Deep Creek Lake. For both rentals, there were issues. The good: Boats were in pretty good shape on the surface (you'll see what I mean later). They stock newer boats that at least look good. The Bad: Both rentals encountered issues. The pontoon boat had a 60 HP engine that was probably firing on less than all cylinders. We got passed by similar boats with the same HP. Even after having some maintenance done, it still struggled to make wakes. Now for the real issue. Upon picking up the boat, they do a pretty thorough inspection and make note of any previous damage to the prop. The girl who check the engine and prop made a note on the contract that there was slight damage to the prop due to previous renters hitting rocks. Upon returning the boat, we were charged $75 for damage to the prop, though it was in exactly the same shape as when we first got the boat. Even though they did have a diagram and notes of the pre-existing damage, they still insisted that we had caused it. Needless to say, I will not be renting from them again because I think this speaks volumes about the other underlying problems we encountered (the less than efficient engine). While their boats look great, the engines and props are obviously not cared for. There is no way to know how many families have been charged for the same damaged prop, and how many will be charged in the future. It really is a genius business practice. Simply charge for the same damage each time somebody rents the boat and you'll never have to fix it. Overall, the service we got from Silver Tree was good (most of the staff is kids working there for the summer - don't set your standards too high). They are friendly, they deliver on time, and they have a wide variety of boats. If you rent from them, just be aware that you will probably pay for any damage that was already there when you first picked up the boat. read more

overpriced. boats are not in good condition with non working radios, dents, dirt, torn seats etc. (pontoon 2502 radio works, 2500 radio doesn't work). boat broke down during rental due to a rotten fuel line. had to call the marina to come tow us. they gave us free gas, but still. 1) I had to ask for a discount, 2) they obviously don't take care of the boats, 3) I had to fight to get a boat with a working radio. it's funny in their contract it says break downs are PART of your rental. stay away and take your business elsewhere. employees are nice tho...college kids who take orders from an incompetent management. read more

Broke the hinges on the engine cover of our boat and just closed it back up and allowed us to pick it up with out them saying a word. Battery was still hooked up and dead because they failed to unhook it as requested. When asked about it the manager/owner? replied that "it just fell apart." We had to bring it back in and show him that was impossible as the cover had a newly installed stainless steel plate where he said "it just fell apart." Guess he never expected that! Had to force them with legal action to do a half *@% fix. Not surprisingly, the fix didn't hold and miraculously, our engine we never had a problem with, suddenly wouldn't run. We found water in the carb. Prob. from when they were messing around with the "fix." near the engine. Had to pay someone else to fix it right and the back of the boat is all scratched up from the cover falling off from the failed fix. STAY AWAY!! read more

Run by College students and company is dishonest. Rented a sea ray and had the propeller checked before we went out. All three blades had damage prior to leaving and when we returned boat a different employee checked the prop and said there was a little more damage. Took $50 of our security deposit after paying them $1100 for two day rental. I am sure they are paid by commission ,be wary and look at the other marinas for boat rental! read more

Horrible company. Kids working there didn't care that the motor in the boat kept stalling, only pointed to the contract and said we should have called them. Okay, no phones in the middle of the lake. My family has owned a unit at silver tree suites for years and we decided to rent 3 paddle boards and a kayak for an hour. The employees were very unprofessional and not trained on how to properly check the equipment. We went out on the water and the kayak started to sink, we were not able to go out far and we had to basically pull the kayak back and a minor that was supposed to be in the kayak. When coming back to the marina, we had no help getting the equipment back and when I informed the staff member of the sinking kayak he said that there should have been a plug on the kayak and it was missing. I spoke to another staff member about refunding my money for only the kayak. The staff was very rude and told me I could have another hour for only the kayak, which would mean that I would have to pay for someone else to go out with the minor who wanted to kayak. I live out of town and this was the only time we were able to do this. I would like to speak to management about this issue, the staff there who were younger said they were in charge. read more
