First....the grounds are beautiful, well maintained and vast. Upon arrival there's a choice of valet or self-park just out front. Before you can even get to the door someone has rushed to open it and greet you warmly. In fact, 1 guy was there at noon when we arrived and still there at 9pm. Even at 9pm he was still hustling, smiling and putting in just as much effort as he was many hrs earlier. The excellence of staff continued beyond the doormen. Every single staff member we encountered was equally engaged, acknowledged guests, was friendly and was genuinely competent at their job. SO refreshing!! We never saw any of the staff on their phones or busy talking with each other. The work ethic & polish this hotel expects from staff is obvious, appreciated & makes an impact on how we felt as guests. Upon entry, the lobby is gorgeous! Pristine, classy yet inviting. Loved the player piano & large fireplace. There were even some really lovely olive wood crosses available at the front desk, which was an especially nice touch over Easter. Often when a lobby is beautiful, the rooms are a let down. Not here! I didn't see any areas that were in need of attention. Our room felt incredibly clean - no missed corners, grimy spots, etc. It was immaculate and so welcoming...oh, and the room was really really big...and so comfortable. There was a large 2 door closet as well as a smaller closet for our child to use and appreciated having 3 suitcase holders that could fit into the closets so we didn't have to look at them in the room. The chairs in the room were actually comfortable to sit in and made sense with their location. Beds were wonderful and I might have to get 1 of their pillows as it was the first night in awhile that my neck hasn't hurt. Winning! The chocolates by the bedside were a fun treat, particularly the lemon truffle. The next key takeaway from this hotel is how clean it is everywhere. Already mentioned the lobby & rooms, but were out by the arena after the candy shop had closed and the person cleaning had all chairs completely off the floor, rug rolled up and outside and was cleaning like they wanted it to shine. My husband immediately noted that's a sign that someone actually taught the person how they wanted it cleaned rather than just asking them to clean. Big difference. Seriously - I could write a novel about this hotel/property and how great it was. Dog portraits line the walls and halls. There's a small patisserie (large one in the Manor, which you also need to explore), toy shop, bar, restaurant and shops to explore. You MUST stop at the patisserie - fresh, beautiful. We grabbed some items in a lovely box to take home as a gift. We also had breakfast at Stirrups and fully recommend dining here. It was wonderful and blew away all the "best" restaurants in Ocala. Our fruit platter was customizable, came with pink pineapple slices (!) and dragon fruit bits. The 3 egg omelet was the size of a 6 egg omelet and had more beautifully cooked bacon than one could hope. While filling our water glasses the pitcher dripped a couple times. Love that our server was right there with her towel to notice every detail. Beyond the really delicious food and outstanding service, we loved watching the horses warming up in the arena outside, looking around at the many dog portraits in the room and relaxing in the large leather chairs. HUGE shout out to the management staff! It's obvious the leadership here has expectations, does comprehensive training with staff and is actively engaged in ensuring the quality of the hotel. Is The Equestrian Hotel more expensive than the other hotel on site or hotels closer to town - yes, but it's so worth it and we would happily pay a higher price to stay here. Comfortable sitting rooms with big chairs and fireplaces. We stayed in The Pump house, which is out behind the main house. The room was comfortable, the water pressure fine, a great bathtub (I would love one in my house). Repairs are taken care of quickly. And the afternoon snacks are yummy. The staff is very nice and helpful. I would visit and stay there again.

So that coupled with a $386 price tag for one night gave me great expectations. Right out of the gatem the trumped-up antique piano was a bomb. No self-respecting pianist worth their salt would be caught dead playing such an atrociously neglected and out of tune instrument. The website said we would be offered complementary wine or beer. Never happened. We paid extra $40 for two people in room, yet only one key. If you plan to sit at the table on the very hot (with no fans) balcony, take some cleaning wipes with you as it was filthy. The room door has a mounting for security chain, but no chain. The drapes just barely cover the glass on the windows. Disconcerting for sure. The wood floor is sticky beneath your bare feet. Yuck! Bathroom lighting is so poor you only hope you got your eyebrow pencil somewhere close to your eyebrows. The toilet is so low it must have been meant for children, oh wait, no children in the big house. Cheapest toilet paper ever, your fingers go right through it! The no slip strips on the bottom of the tub were loose and flying in the breeze. Safety first! A book about Floridian painters, antique or not, is only of value if one can actually turn the pages. When it is falling apart literally at the seams it is classified as junk! The cook, "E" was delightful and went above and beyond expectation. The layer of dust on every windowpane in the dining room was a little gross. Being old and decrepit does not qualify as "eloquent" , and is not worth the exorbitant price tag.

Since this was the resort's soft opening (the official opening is August 1, 2026), I'm keeping that in mind with my review and offering feedback that I hope is helpful as they continue to fine-tune operations. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. A special thank you to Justice and Mary in the Welcome Center for sharing great tips on how to make the most of a potentially stormy day. Your advice really helped! Parking attendants Linda and Richard were incredibly friendly and gave us a ride from the parking lot to the entrance, which was much appreciated. At the end of the day, Nestor gave us a ride back to our car--a wonderful way to end a long day without the extra walk. Inside the resort, there were plenty of food and beverage options, great music, and activities for families with children of all ages. Most importantly, the pools and lazy river were spotless, and the lifeguards were attentive and encouraging, especially with younger or first-time swimmers. There are also two splash pad areas with nearby cabanas available to rent for families looking for extra convenience. During the afternoon, lightning moved into the area, and for everyone's safety all guests were asked to exit the pools and seek shelter. We waited about an hour before activities resumed. While no one enjoys weather delays, I was impressed with how hard the staff worked to communicate with guests, find additional seating for families who stayed, and help keep the kids entertained. The restaurants and arcade understandably became very busy during this time, but the team handled a challenging situation as well as they could. For adults looking for a quieter experience, there are peaceful seating areas, and upgrading to a cabana provides an even more relaxing atmosphere. Even on a busy Sunday there were plenty of chairs available, although I did notice several appeared to be "reserved" for long periods without being used. As attendance grows, this may be something management will want to monitor. One feature I especially enjoyed was the large stage and big screen overlooking the main pool, where guests could watch the World Cup Final. I can easily imagine this becoming an amazing venue for live music and entertainment in the future--it definitely gives off fun resort vibes similar to Margaritaville. Food & Drinks We ordered a large pretzel, chicken wings, tacos, flatbreads, fries, and a burger from Finn's. Everything was fresh, delicious, and arrived quickly thanks to the cabana service staff. We enjoyed both lunch and dinner, and I thought the pricing was very reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. The drinks were also excellent, refreshing, well-made, and perfect for a relaxing day by the pool. The Long Island Beacher was my fav! My only suggestion would be to add another bartender during afternoon and evening peak hours. The team was working incredibly hard, but they were clearly overwhelmed during the busiest times, particularly after the weather delay when everyone returned at once. Alicia, in particular, remained friendly and welcoming despite the rush, and her kindness did not go unnoticed. One helpful tip for future guests: drinks are served without lids, so if you like to sip slowly and keep your beverages cold, bringing an insulated tumbler is a great idea. A special thank you to Lori for her outstanding poolside service. Your warm personality and attention to detail made our family feel truly welcomed. You represent the kind of hospitality every resort strives for. I'd also like to recognize the young lady who was constantly cleaning tables and collecting trays around the pool area on July 19. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, but she worked tirelessly with a smile all day. Clean public spaces make a huge difference, and I hope management recognizes her dedication. Suggestions for Improvement * Lockers: I was surprised there were no rental lockers for day guests. Having secure storage for wallets, phones, and other valuables would allow families to fully enjoy the attractions without taking turns watching belongings. This is a feature commonly found at water parks and resorts. * Towel Service: We brought our own towels, but towel service would be a welcome convenience for both resort guests and day visitors. Overall, these are minor suggestions for a resort that is still in its soft opening. The staff's hospitality, clean facilities, and genuine commitment to guest experience far outweighed any small areas for improvement. We'll definitely be back after the official opening. Congratulations to the entire team on a great start, and thank you for helping make our daughter's 7th birthday such a fun and memorable day!

I'm traveling alone and decided to stay here due to its proximity to where I need to be, as well as the price. I tend to stay at the chain places because there is always an 800 number to call if something goes wrong but decided to give this one a try anyway. So glad I did. The room itself was very clean, very comfortable, and very well-appointed. Due to the nature of my visit, I really liked having a desk with a comfy chair as well as a very comfortable lounging chair with foot stool. I would say I spent a good amount of time utilizing those, but not nearly as much time as I spent using the comfortable outdoor pavilion area. It was a sunny 85 degrees when I got down here so sitting at the table under the pavilion to work with the nice breeze going was heavenly. Even better though was sitting out there to FaceTime my family to say good night later in the evening when it literally seems like paradise. Gentle lighting, a fire pit, comfy chairs, balmy weather. You can also borrow outdoor games from the front desk! Obviously the hotel can't control the weather but if they could... They also have a lovely pool area that I didn't use but BONUS POINTS! It has an accessible chair lift for wheelchair users. I do not think I have EVER seen a hotel with one. My gym has one. My physical therapist has one. But a hotel for traveling guests?!?!? Amazing. Breakfast was a lovely and welcomed addition, especially included in the price and I found there to be enough options that pretty much everyone could find SOMETHING to munch on. I don't know if it changes, but today there was fried eggs, bacon, hard boiled eggs, assorted cereal cups, milk, bowls of oats with some spices and stuff to jazz them up if you choose, fresh apples, assorted juices and water, light & fit yogurt (my favorite!), bagels with cream cheese, bread and butter (and the toaster for them - which is not always a given, trust me!), some donuts, peanut butter and jelly packets, a waffle maker with batter, syrups and whipped cream, and coffee/tea/hot water. I thought it was a great assortment and anything I could think to add would just be nitpicky. They covered pretty much something for everyone. Everyone I talked to was super friendly and lovely and very helpful. The front desk is willing to stop and give you tips about the area, people performing maintenance or housekeeping stop to greet you. The people were all great. I also like that there is a lot of dining within walking distance. If you have been on a plane and in a car all day like me, you can easily walk across the parking lot or across the street to so many different restaurants for dinner. I also liked that they give you a little slip of paper at check in with times to remind you of breakfast time, cookie time, quiet time (which I really appreciated). There are a bunch of designated smoking benches and areas, but I do wish there were more no smoking areas throughout - being a non-smoker myself - it did get somewhat annoying that the pavilion is a smoking area so people out smoking there sit with the people just trying to enjoy the evening breeze, and a lot of people just step out onto the balcony outside of their rooms, so you walk the cigarette gauntlet every time you come and go, but I just leave the pavilion when the smoking gets to me and come back later. This would 100% be the hotel I stay at any time I am in the area.
