When I saw the sign that their wines were available "on tap" for tasting I was intrigued because I had never heard of such a thing before. We were warmly greeted upon entering and told about their tasting process. I was surprised to learn that in Ohio apparently it is illegal to give free wine samples so they have to charge. Here it is 50 cents per sample and they also had a "package" that offered tastings with a cute mini wine glass. We opted for the second because we thought we might drink wine when we got back to our hotel since everything in the area closes so early. I tried two of their dry reds, some sweet, a fruit wine and their wine slushie. We were told a little bit about each wine when they were brought over. It was interesting to see them being poured out of the tap instead of going to a wine fridge. I really enjoyed all that I sampled. Aside from the sampling bar, the space has some tables for those that choose go buy a glass, bottle or slushie and enjoy it on sight. I really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

The service was terrible, we've been to many wineries all over the world and this was the worst service we've ever had, they did not rinse our glasses out in between tastings just used the same glass for each taste, the lady was rude and acted annoyed to be working that day. Not a typical winery vibe. The space is a pole barn type set up with no kitchen so they do not offer you water you can purchase bottled water only. The entire experience was not good. The wine was probably the worst we've ever had. I would encourage you to try a different winery up the road and skip this one. The service being bad makes things worse than anything, be friendly we stopped at your winery, make it a good experience. read more

Very nice selection of wine but not a very good selection of snacks they have pre packaged cheese and summer sausage but no crackers. They did offer pretzels and chips and popcorn. I had a great time stopping at Silver Moon Winery with my family during a little mini tasting-tour of Dover. First of all, I loved their tasting offering where you get to try six tasting glasses in a little mini-glass you get to keep for ~$5. You can also do $.50 per taste but the tasting plus a small souvenir was too fun to pass up. I believe that they have a few more wines of the sweet variety than dry but please don't let that stop you from giving them a try, especially when tastings are so reasonable. I tasted a good mix of whites and red and found all that I tasted completely delicious and enjoyable plus the woman offering the tastings curated the order of them to enhance our experience. Loved the wine-slushes which are such a fun idea for summer. While I'm not usually a sweet white person I was really drawn to their Catawba, Strawberry Blonde, and Starry White wines. Plus, I loved that I found something a little outside of my normal wheelhouse to purchase for enjoying at a later date. I would definitely recommend a stop here on any trip to the Dover area for a bit of refreshment. read more

After a day in the ultra conservative Amish country we decided we needed to shake it up a little with some Ohio wine tasting. Now, I never even knew that Ohio had vineyards. I have no idea how they grow grapes out here with the crazy weather. I've been tasting in Napa and Temecula, CA but I was up for the experience. It was interesting. Our sommelier for the day was someone who knew nothing about wines, but at least she was honest and up front about it. There was no pretense about this place at all. The other cool thing was that you could do quarter tastes. I did a dollar's worth. I started with a fruity blend called Eve's Garden or something like it. It tasted a bit like Apple Kool-Aid. You could seriously get drunk without even knowing it. I moved onto Sangria after that which was awful, it was a syrupy sugar water. My third taste was called Spanish Red, it was actually decent. It was a full-body blend that would go great with pasta. My final taste was the Luna Blanca. It was a buttery, oaky, sweet yet dry wine that tasted like a California white from Temecula. Overall it was just fun. I'd go back. They also serve light food samples to help you digest more alcohol for really reasonable prices. read more

I loved the atmosphere here. It was cozy and friendly. I loved the romance red wine. I bought 2 romance reds. One for me and one for my mom. I also bought the strawberry blonde as well. My boyfriend and I had a glass before leaving and it was really cozy and sweet. Loved it here. If I am ever going through here again I will definitely stop again. read more

We stopped at the Silver Moon Winery on a Saturday evening in June - this was our 3rd stop of a 4 winery tour that day. The winery was closing so we had 10 minutes to taste. The staff was so friendly and welcoming - even though we had walked in at closing time. The tasting area is comfortable, although the winery is small. We were impressed with the Zinfandel and brought a bottle home with us. We loved the little "tasting goblets" and bought 2 of them as mementos. The wine here is impressive - I only wish we had gotten there earlier! This is a great winery to stop at if you're in the area. read more

I'm such a big fan of Amish and Ohio wines. It's such a different experience from so many other places including generally more relaxing. I've been to several wineries in NE Ohio while I lived there, but never discovered Silver Moon until I returned to visit my family a couple months ago. We had a great tasting with the typical reasonable prices found in Ohio wineries. Knowledgable staff and a great variety of wines. Sweet wines, and ice wines more specifically are my favorites, and Silver Moon left me wanting almost everything they had. I believe I tasted 4 or 5 wines and ended up walking away with just as many bottles, including two of their fire and ice wine which I highly recommend. The one thing I wish they had was a great sitting area indoor and/or outdoors to enjoy the wine with a cheese plate or something and enjoy the gorgeous scenery and countryside. read more

I think Silver Moon gets passed by because it is smaller than the other wineries in the area, however, I love the quaint atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and the wine is delicious! Stop by and get a bottle, sit inside or outside, and enjoy a plate of bread to go along with it. I highly recommend Silver Moon! read more

Wonderful Service. Delicious wines. We stopped by for a sampling which consisted of 5 or 6 samples and a wine glass for $6. We tend to go for the sweet and fruit wines. Our hostess made some nice suggestions and we walked out with a couple of bottles. The apple flavor (Eve's Delight) was to me one of the best apple wines I've had. Very glad we stopped and will do so again when back in the area. read more

My fiance and I loved this winery. There are so many wineries in the area but this is a must-stop. Their wine is so so tasty. I only wish that they had a little more room. We were smooshed together on a bar that is about the size of a grocery store checkout line. It's hard to truly enjoy your experience when you're a sardine, but the taste of their wine made up for it. We stop everytime we are in the area. Usually get a case of our favorite wine "Strawberry Blonde" to take home. Clean & quaint place to visit. Worth the stop. My fiancée and I visited a handful of wineries in the Amish country areas for fun and to search out great wines for our wedding. The staff at Silver Moon winery was excellent! They were super knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions. We went back twice after we made some final decisions on wines and ALL of the staff was so welcoming and friendly! They had a wide variety of wines which suited both of our tastes, as I like sweeter wines and he likes dryer ones, we will definitely be going back! I will make this easy and simple. We LOVE tacky tourist places. This is NOT the Tuscan country side and therefore look for local, sweet, "fairly immature" selections. Nope, that is not bad, god knows we have drank enough of that style. You are welcome. So, here - weak, "i could care less i am waiting on you", twenty somethings as the staff and everything half assed as far as follow through and experience. My favorite thing of recent was to get bitched at when asking for a tasting that 'we start with SWEET wines first'. Really, everyone in the free world starts with DRY - like all the competitors up the street... In closing, I will try to help, if the owners read this, here: Have a policy where the staff is not allowed to have their device on them at any time during work. Have the staff hired because have a little personality. 'Any' would be great. Have your staff know the damn wines and things they sell! I hope this helped. read more
