There are already so many reviews, so just some notes: 1) Make your way around the current dump (also a Nassau County gem, seriously) and drive slowly. 2) Parking is tricky at certain times of the day and on weekends. Make sure to come before 9:30 on beautiful days, or else you'll be parking far, far away. More steps, If you really want them I guess. 3) Wear your sunscreen! Skin cancer is no joke, and it's pretty bright up top with not a lot of coverage if you walk around to the lake. 4) Beware...No lights in the bathroom and really not the best place to use the loo. There however is a shopping center close by... 5) Look out of all sorts of critters from birds to bugs.. including ticks.

We played doubles, and my partner and I won the game against the other two players. Points are scored only when the serving team wins a rally, and I am a good server. I learned fast how to make the ball hit the court in front the blue line, which is known as the kitchen. Elvis, the head coach, was thorough in his explanation of the fundamentals of the game. We practiced our skills with our peers, getting feedback from the coach that was assigned to our court. There was a coach for each of the eight courts, and each court had four players. I learned the rules of the game and how to score. The goal is to keep the ball out of the kitchen. You can only volley outside the kitchen. The class lasted approximately two hours, and we all had fun. I will definitely be back to take more classes. My mind's been racing and my heart's been beating fast, from both being sick and from ruminating thoughts, however standing along the water's edge provides a much needed sense of tranquility. It's a feeling that inspires hope and reminds me that while sometimes our best made plans go awry and tides made change, the current of life still flows. When you can't change things, perhaps the best thing to shift is mindset. I'm still working on that one, one day at a time.. and walking along the sand here at Baldwin Harbor Park's secret beach gives me the mental space I need to keep on at it.

I could pass the hours daydreaming by this pond if I had the time. There are a few benches by the pond so you can even bring your food from the nearby Bigelow's Seafood if they are busy (uncover the takeout unless you yearn for limp fried food). Here is a tip: We sat by the gazebo one lovely morning as all ducks and geese came towards us. We did not feed them, but soon after a gentleman that seems to be a regular (there always seem to be friendly regulars feeding the ducks) came to a nearby bench and begin tossing them some bread. We swiftly moved to the other side of the pond and enjoyed our breakfast unmolested as the gentleman feed and occupied all the ducks and geese across the pond. Of course we had a couple of stragglers that didn't go along with the crowd, but much less than the gang of 100 or so on the other side. Not a place to seek out since it is on the smallish side, but if you are in the area and looking for a peaceful spot it will do perfectly.

Often times, I meet my friends, if they can't make it I feel safe walking alone. Safety officers are visible and Nassau County PD conduct tours. The bike lane and lane for walkers are respected by both. The restroom are clean. There is two kiddy parks and BBQ area. The park is a good way to clear my mind and get mine steps in.
