We arrived just after most local shopping had closed; perhaps a drink and time to soak in some nightlife instead. Checked Yelp and didn't see much. Google search led us to Seguin Bar and Billiards. Place wasn't too crowded and there was an available table. Drinks ordered from the friendly bartender! Jim Beam and Coke for me; rum punch for the lady. OK, so we had to help with that recipe lol. Once the drinks were flowing and we were playing it was a fun evening. Only complaint was there was no chalk for your hands. First pool hall I've been too that didn't have it.

I think if this bar got more organized on their busier nights, the wait time for their costumers wouldn't be as long. The bartenders could definitely be a little faster, I order 4 ranch waters and I swear it took longer than 10 minutes to be made, it was surprising the pace the bartender was going with how busy the bar was that night lol. I would still recommend this bar for its fun environment but if you're impatient and going on a weekend and you're going to pick a place for last hour or 30mins keep this in mind.

We came to Cowboys & Cadillacs as it seemed like a cool place to go. They have dinning inside. But outside roof top there is a huge stage, and big fire pit. The second level is more seating and a bar. A lot of people were out. A couple "brides to be" with their party were out too. The band was good. Ordered a blueberry mojito. Very nice. Also ordered their flat bread pizza. Loved the bbq sauce that was on it. And picked jalapeños. Great night over all.

Firstly, the original building was moved down the street, losing some of it's location charm, located in a field far away from the Barbarossa Bowling Club, and TREES (there are none at the current locale). While the move and re-build added outdoor bar, deck, kids stuff, etc., the original "local charm" is just kinda gone. On a Sunday, there were 5 bar staff members, all of which seemed to be partaking a bit, while ignoring us for easily 5-minutes before acknowledging. Seems like only local bar flies are taken care of. We stayed for a beer, reminisced about all the funky decorations that were missing (especially in the bathrooms), and decided to leave because it just didn't feel as welcoming as in the past, and seemed a bit contrived with obviously brand new ticky-tack decor.

There is really only two choices, a mac and cheese place and Mikey's Cheesesteaks which I will review separately. Definitely need more options, not sure if they have food trucks in the summer or not, but need more. Let's skip to the best attribute, the ambiance. Love the old elementary school layout, with the courtyard and various little businesses in the old classrooms. The bar is in what I assume was the old cafeteria, which was roomy with various seating options. There was a couple guitar players playing which was nice, and prices were reasonable. Now the low point. The afternoon bartender couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough. We asked for the game outside on the big TV as there was nobody there but us. She told us to ask the night bartender as she was about to leave (not sure why that was important and she was there another 15 minutes before relief arrived), but we had almost an hour so we got our drinks and sat down. After shift change we ordered round two and asked for the outdoor TV as instructed, but in the meantime someone had asked for the basketball game so we got a TV near us in the bar. Whomever had requested the outdoor TV didn't even make it to halftime of there game, but by then I didn't feel like moving. Great history, great idea, just lacking in execution at this point. I hope things work out.

It was made possible by the Second Baptist Church. It was called Abraham Lincoln School. In 1892 the school became part of the Seguin public school system. In 1925 the name was changed to Ball High School after its first principal and one of the founders. The school ceased being segregated in 1966. There is a sports bar here called Seguin Schoolyard (opened in 2024). However, the entire grounds are also known as the Seguin Schoolyard as they are an extension of the bar. This review is for everything because it's a really cool concept. There is a huge outdoor area with a stage that is kinda sorta giving Luckenbach vibes. Lots of covered and uncovered seating featuring picnic tables and deck chairs. A great outdoor stage for local and national performers. The outdoor space also has an outdoor bar for concerts. The grounds are lined with several businesses including a bakery, hair salon, art center for kids, cheesesteak shop, the namesake bar, shops, and more. What a great addition to Seguin! Heck, Paul Wall will be performing there in November 2025. The (indoor) bar itself is spacious and comfortable with bar seating as well as living area-style seating. The staff are super fun, friendly, and attentive. Family, kid, & pet-friendly.
