I've been bringing my pets to Silver Dog for over 6 years. My very active Golden Doodle, Sammy, loves this places. Sammy's ears perk up and tail and body start wiggling & wagging when I say, "wanna see your friends, wanna go to Silver Dog?" I'm retired now and no longer need doggie daycare for work, but will still bring Sammy here to play for 1/2 day or full day care at least once or twice a week. He loves the staff and when I pick him up after play they hug and cuddle him goodbye. He gets so much needed playtime and his social skills with other dogs are great! I've recommended Silver Dog to my friends. I have several family and friends who bring their dog here. As for the staff, they are so nice and I feel like they're more friends than business acquaintances. read more

Silver Dog Bed & Biscuit - Sammy after getting a groom at Silver Dog. So handsome! - Pet Sitting Near Me - W St Paul, Minnesota

Excellent care of our dogs. Meeting individual needs and personality from our 14 year old Havanese to our 2 year old lab.

!!!DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!!! There's hardly ever anyone in daycare supervising the dogs, and if they pee or poop, it sits there for who knows how long. They also take dogs from daycare and put them in a kennel, where they spend almost the whole day. They don't clean the outdoor yard properly; it's mostly concrete and smells like urine and poop. There are holes in the cement that leave puddles of urine and waste where your dogs end up sitting and walking, which is why many people have complained about their dogs reeking of urine when they're sent home. Even though your dog sits in urine and poop, they don't bathe or clean the dogs; they don't do anything, and your dog is lucky if they spray a scent spray on them to mask the smell -- most of the time, they don't even do that. They also smoke and vape inside and outside the building, even around the dogs. These people do not care for animals at all, let alone know how to handle them. If a dog gets into a fight, they do nothing and act like it's no big deal, letting the dogs get away with bad behavior. Not to mention, they are extremely understaffed, which leads to forgetting to feed some dogs or air out others. Plus, the owners and staff are rude and do not care about these animals. This is pure neglect, and this place needs to be shut down -- these animals do not deserve this treatment. read more

I have been taking my frightened rescue dog here for three years. But since I've been taking him here, he's had a great change in his behavior. He loves coming here, and is no longer afraid in most situations. Highly recommend. read more

My 11lb Havenese was at this place for 10 days. When I picked him up after paying close to 600.00 he smelled so much like urine and I had to roll the window down. His butt was crusted with poop! I consider that abuse. And I paid for it. I'm sorry to say this but it's the truth read more

I love this business they take such good care of my pups and always report back on everything. It's always clean and never smells like anything but eucaliptos. My pups are always so tired when they come home and super clean because of the grooming they offer right before they leave, they get groomed the day of their departure, they get taken care of completely and they come home with a report card so you can read about how they did, what's better then that! read more

They are all so nice. We just moved here a few weeks ago and and my dog loved the place the first day! When I brought him back the next time he was so excited! I love them! read more

Jorah loves to stay at Silver Dog! I'm able to say this because he has stayed with them several times and every time, when we pick him up, he is happy! He is always returned to us in great condition. We adore the staff. They clearly love our dog as their own. Highly recommend! read more

Silver Dog Bed & Biscuit - Our boy must get plenty of exercise at Silver Dog. - Pet Sitting Near Me - W St Paul, Minnesota

This place has definitely gone down hill. I've come in and heard staff yelling at the dogs (I get it, it gets loud. But yelling "SHUT UP!!" isn't appropriate. The place smells, the ceiling is falling apart, the parking lot is a pothole mess and I was told by an employee that not only do they not get any extra pay on holidays, but that they don't get the tips that are left for them! Their groomer is awful and was told by another employee that he actually hits the dogs and leaves them unattended! I asked her to send me pictures as proof and she did. The only good thing about that place was that they used to have a board up of adoptable dogs and I loved seeing that they helped other rescues and gave back to the community in that way. However, I haven't seen the board OR the lady that used to foster in a long time. read more

Silver Dog Bed & Biscuit - Where is the groomer? Because he's not standing by the dog like he should be... I was told he was actually bathing another dog - Pet Sitting Near Me - W St Paul, Minnesota

This review is specific to their cat boarding service. I live alone with a cat who has historically been very low-maintenance. "Low maintenance" is kinda the thing with cats, right? Well, things change I guess, so now he has a daily oral medication. And he makes that a challenge. Since I like to travel, I needed to have him boarded. I looked into just about every option for boarding a cat and having his meds administered, and the cheapest option happened to be this convenient West St Paul location. And someone at work happened to recommend it. And it happened to work out great. Like just about every kennel-type place that would accept cats, it's a lot more of a dog-boarding place. Bearing that in mind, the cat portion of the facility seemed adequate. It was clean and well-maintained every time I came by, and the staff struck me as very attentive. All the particular needs for my quirky little fur-ball were enthusiastically and affectionately met. They have a discount for stays of 14-20 days, which is perfect for my two-week trips. I'm not thrilled at the need for boarding my cat, but I'm glad I have this option. I plan to use them again next month. read more

Couldn't ask for better! So, my cat is old and by old I mean almost 19. She's not super active, has a bit of a pancreas issue, but still lives a great life laying around on the couch or the bed, getting fed whenever she's hungry and is generally a great cat. We were out of town for 2 trips over 2 weekends and part of 1 week, as was my regular sitter, so I thought, "Hey maybe the vet has a place they would recommend?" And they did. I immediately called Silver Dog and left a message. The office manager Robin called me right back and answered all my crazy questions - Do you feed her on a regular schedule? Yes. Can you give her medicine? Yes. How often do you clean the condo? Twice a day. Do you play with them? Yes. Will she be around other cats? No. We have the ability to house 18 cats. Will she be around dogs? No. Are you staffed at all times? 12 hours a day. In addition to all of the above, they provided the litter and box and the food dish. She even told me to pop in to check the place out. So I did. Cat condos are 3 levels. At least one side of the condo has a window and on the lower level, there is an aquarium for the cats to check out, yet they cannot see other cats, which is good for my old timer. About half way through my travels I called to check on her, and they were having a great time with her, so I really felt at ease. They even called my vet to find out if she was up to date on her immunizations and confirmed the medication procedures. I was very happy with service provided by Silver Dog and the staff was very happy to have such a friendly and gentle cat. My regular sitter is going to be sad, but this will be my go to joint going forward. read more

I still got the previous homestead in Seattle on the brain. There, kennels demanded proof of shots, neutering, personalized behavioral assessments, and they could still refuse to kennel your dog. Silver Dog isn't the cheapest, but it was a breath of fresh air. They called the Vet for me to get desired paperwork, and can feed your dog from their own food supply. Very responsive to questions and nice. Will be back and recommend to all! read more

I love this place!! FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We love our groomer, Oscar...He is so patient with our little Teddi, always has the best suggestions and makes our little honey look FABULOUS!!! What more can I say? The front desk folks are great, its easy to get to, and after trying a few other grooming places prior to this one, I know we will never go anywhere else!! Thanks Silver Dog!!! read more

We have a dog that 1) does not do well around other dogs and 2) had never stayed in a kennel. He spent three nights there and it went GREAT. The staff were all fantastic. It was clear that they got to know our dog and knew his personality, his strengths and his fears. They were friendly and understanding and clearly love dogs. We will definitely take him there again, both for doggie daycare and for overnight stays when we are gone. read more

We followed Oscar to Silver Dog for the grooming of our Aussie about 5 years ago - and he is the absolute best. His love of dogs shows in the way he kneels to talk to her, the way he lets her 'watch Mama leave' before taking her back to the bath area, and how she seems to trust and like him even tho this is the Most Hated Activity in her world. He will even call us at home to discuss grooming options, and has been known to squeeze us in for last minute emergencies. Prices are reasonable and our Tess comes home shining like satin and smelling like a rose, about half the size she was because he does such a fabulous job on her undercoat as well as her top coat. I would highly recommend both Silver Dog and Oscar for anybody looking for a great grooming experience. read more

Our family loves Silver Dog. Our dogs start panting with excitement before we even turn into the parking lot. Plenty of room for play both inside and out. Everyday they come home happy and tired. Staff and groomers are terrific and overnights are always easy. read more

God I love this place.....they are open 7 days a week!! Boarding cats and dogs Both our border collies used to get sick (kennel cough) from a place in Eagan and in Burnsville; but not here. I used to come back and have another $150 vet bill Clean! You can smell how clean the place is and how they clean up after the animals. They are well staffed and really love animals and care for your pets. What a wonderful place to enable you to go on vacation and have peace of mind and know the dogs are happy. They have three indoor playgrounds (supervised with typically two people) and sort the dogs by size (which is great). They even have spots for anxious and nervous dogs. I love the report card. They do excellent grooming and washing too. They are value priced and wonderful, wonderful people. read more

Went in there 7/5/21 for information about day care for my dog. As we entered all we could hear was dogs barking, and NOT sounding like they were playing...Woman (blonde)working was quite rude, First she said who are u here for ? I said I'm not, soon as I said that, I got the "I'm way too busy for this look " I said I'm wondering about info on doggy day care . I was told like what ? I replied, I guess prices, then a long silence followed by prices on a post it note, and brochure. I asked are they around other dogs ? She replied yes , I said, I'm not sure if he would like that. I guess we would have to see how it goes.. She then said... then why would u bring him here ? in a not so nice way. I said he has separation anxiety , and I work. She said that's too bad, and walked away. and left the counter, with my boyfriend and I just standing there by ourselves. Nothing about accommodations for ur pet, schedule , activities, feeding ..etc. As rude as she was I wouldn't bring a pet rock here. read more

Wonderful, clean boarding and play areas. The staff writes up a "doggie report card" for every day of boarding to let you know whether he was nervous, outgoing, happy, sleepy, etc., and listing which other dogs they saw him playing with. Tremendously reassuring for anyone who has a shy dog. read more

The staff is the best. Love this place - and so does our dog. Highly recommended. Great for boarding and grooming.

I have been bringing my kitty to SDBB for many years, and he has no complaints! :)) He is shy and gentle, dislikes strangers and new places, but has no problem with this one. The accommodations are clean and spacious, many have individual windows. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the cats get individual attention and 'social time.' I have had many cats over the years, and this is the best facility I ever dealt with, and the prices are reasonable. Irena read more

I love taking my dogs to the Silver Dog! The staff is wonderful and very friendly! They do a great job with grooming so while my dogs are staying here I'm always sure to book an appointment with the grooming staff. My dogs love it here too. I can tell because they are so excited when we get there. I always feel comfortable leaving my dogs here because I know they are in good hands and taken care of by professionals. read more

They are very good to our somewhat insane dog - she has been going there for years and everyone knows her and seems to love her. We trust them. read more

This kennel is great. Our dog is old and cranky, and they know how to handle him. He's been there twice - once for a very long stay - and came back happy, healthy, and with a doggy smile. The staff are remarkable. They figured out our dog's temperament and matched him with dogs that gave him a happy social life. I highly recommend this business. read more

I usually never rate a service or business, but after reading a not so favorable review I am compelled to share my experience with Silver Dog. I have taken my dogs to Silver Dog on several occasions at have had great experiences each time. The staff has been exceptional with my dogs needs, along with mine, putting me at ease. I am a single person and my dogs are my only family so I will not leave them with just anybody. I am more concerned with the welfare of my dogs than some stained ceiling tiles. I am confident in my decision on leaving my "family" with Silver Dog because I know they will be well taken care of. I will be taking my dogs back again because I know they get the care and attention they deserve at Silver Dog. read more

I bring my dog Bear once a week to the day care. I do all his grooming and boarding here as well. The staff is flexible, friendly, outgoing and interactive with the dogs. The facility is clean and organized. Bear is never hesitant or nervous. The other dogs are well socialized and friendly. It is a great experience for my dog and gives me piece of mind knowing that he is well taken care of by the staff and getting in some fun play time with the other great dogs that attend the day care. He is a very tired puppy at the end of the day. It's wonderful!! I recommend this facility to anyone who has a day care or grooming need. read more
