    Shower stains
    Tesoro

We stayed here for my girlfriends birthday week. They stated online that they featured a swimming pool, spa and removable shower heads, continental breakfast, all things we wanted. We came admittedly during off season however, the pool and spa were shutdown due to overall hotel renovations that we werent told about during the booking process. The continental breakfast was awful, there were warmers but they were empty and not turned on and upon looking into the mini fridge there were items that were suppsoed to be on the warmer ready to go but we had to do it ourselves. Only thing worth getting was a muffin i could get at a gas station instead. The breakfast was also displayed overnight and was never refreshed including the milk. I know this because everything we took the previous day was never refreshed by new or fresh products. The elevators were not clean and had suspicious stains on the button panel. Upon asking which floor had ice, we were told it was on the 3rd and 5th floor, we got out on the 5th and were asked what we were doing there like we werent allowed to be there. Our room didn't have removable shower heads either. The bathrooms were laid out in such a way you couldnt shut the door if you were on the toilet. We had our first room, dirty stains on the shower floor and white "stains" on the couch. We got another for free which was nice and was a tad bit cleaner. The front desk people were nice enough but seemed annoyed that I paid with cash and couldn't keep tabs on my card if I were to use it. The views and the fact that we were in walking distance of everything and had a floor to ourselves was a major upside. But that was about it. We won't be returning to this location and will find an AirBnB.

Very disappointed with this hotel. The only reason we stayed here was because of the location and the deal we got. Our room had a disgusting wet/musty smell from carpet. It was so awful to breathe in and I'm not even kidding. There were hardly any outlets, so alarm clock and lamps were not plugged in. Our bathtub had a ring around it. Our sink looked like it went through an exorcism! Not to mention, there was a brown streak on the ceiling. I don't even want to know what that was. I'm typically not a complainer, but this place was gross. The front desk never asked us how our stay was either, so here it is. There's a difference between not being updated and not being take care of. We won't be back...

Door that won't shut. The hall light shines right thru the crack. Getto fabulous.

Well I booked this room using information based on their website. Booked a one night stay king spa room $149. When we arrived at 8pm on a Saturday 3/9/19 and walked in there wasn't a person manning the front desk. We stood forever just waiting for check in. It had a beautiful chandelier over the check in and a lovely fire going in the lobby. That's the best part of this hotel. Oh that, and the fabulous sparkling floor in the elevator. I was so excited after FINALLY getting checked it. It's basically ho hum from there....First the website said "large free standing hot tub" when in actuality it's just a spa tub barely big enough for two, stuck in the unlit corner of the bedroom. Jets blow out so hard that they leave giant red marks on your body. Its a giant 24" step In & out of the tub, but It's only about 5" deep so it didn't even cover my legs. Just basically a "bath tub". Nothing really romantic here. Probably should have utilized the bath and just shaved my legs instead. The towels are definitely motel 6. Old school rough and I say towels only in the sense that they are white and look like a towel but absolutely nothing you'd like to dry off with. When we arrived to our 6th floor "suite" the door looked as if it had been pried open a time or two. It would not lock with the dead bolt, only the inside slide lock. We actually propped the ironing board against the door so we could hear if someone decided to give her a jiggle. The curtains were falling off the rod in the room. The bathtub (the ACTUAL one) was disgusting. Mold & mildew all along the bottom edge. Thankfully I just used the HOT TUB as my bath. The bed... omg. Uncomfortable springy bounce-a-thon. Pillows were flat and hard and you need all 6 provided to just make one good one and only a sheet and a duvet on the bed that looking around the rest of the room one could assume that it probably isn't washed that often. I'm only passing through on my way to Detroit and thought the hubby & I would splurge just this once, on a nice place overlooking Lake Michigan. Unfortunately it's not all that. All this overlooks is another building overlooking the lake. We have an excellent view of the back parking lot. I could have saved about half & just stayed at our normal Best Western. One star at best. Skip this place if you're wanting romance. I can watch TV in a king bed cheaper more secure somewhere else.

I wanted to remain positive but everything just kept going down hill. This is an old Clarion Hotel (Comfort, Clarion, Sleep chain) that is in DESPERATE need of a complete clean and remodel. It is old. It has an odor. Do not expect a five star hotel or service. This is a place you stay in tourist town for $150 per night when all the surrounding hotels are at least $300. It is one block from all the shops and just a few blocks from the splash pad, city park, swimming area, train station, restaurants, everything that is downtown St. Joseph. Carpet has holes, grime/mold in lots of places, rusty items in bathroom. There are 2 elevators that service the entire place. This morning one elevator broke down during breakfast service and the line (at least 55 people) wrapped throughout the lobby of folks trying to get to their rooms for check out, etc. Several people were asking the desk attendant where the stairwell was and we were advised that we cannot use the stairs because those doors only open for fires. As 15 people at a time are attempting to jam into a single elevator and the crowd is becoming hostile about not being able to use the staircase, the employees start sarcastically griping about what a great day this is going to be! If you just need a place with a bed, this is your place. If you are looking for luxury, head down the shoreline.

Went to stay the night was promised a Handicap room. Didn't get it my room. So we could not bring in a wheel chair. Room was old and nasty. And our nice balcony had a million old cigarette butts in water cups and all over the place. Thanks silver Beach Hotel. You have renewed my faith in just pay the extra if ya want something nice.

Location is great, if you're reading this you did more then me. I should have read this before I booked, I would have never stayed here. I was looking for location and closest to the shops. The bar they have at the hotel entrance is sketchy, lots of random creepy looking men hanging out at the bar as we unloaded our bags onto the cart. We get checked in, go up to the room, for $140 a night I would expect something halfway decent. There is mold in the room and bathroom, the curtain is falling off the window, the balcony looks like someone took a jack hammer to it and the bed is as about as hard as the floor. When we asked a local person about this hotel working at a store nearby she was like "oh..." Well, yeah I would never stay there... the hotel looks run down, just a lot of simple things you expect to be normal aren't. They left a half roll of toilet paper on the roll from the previous person who used this room. There are no power outlets to charge anything by the bed, rather I'm charging my phone on the floor by the back of the mini fridge. Just an over all bad choice, I take full blame for it, should have did my research, this was a last second decision, not that we stayed in the hotel all day, but after walking around and knowing we had to come back to this.. never again... random as well is the parrots they have down in the lobby in a cage.. just strange

    Water damage

This place is gross and literally falling down. Our room was filthy. There was trash behind the night stand. There is clearly a leak causing water damage. My in-laws stayed in the room across the hall and their ceiling literally started falling down in the middle of the night and there was a leak in their bathroom. It's clear our room was not cleaned before we got there. The bed, sheets, and pillows are horribly uncomfortable. I would never stay here, again. It needs to be torn down.

The only reason why I'm giving this place more than one star is because of the location. It's right by the city center and walking distance to everything. Otherwise I agree with most of the posts that this place is a bit run down and they seem to want to nickel and dime for everything. They must be desperate for the money if only they'd renovate they would do much better. The floors do seem a bit grimy in the hotel room, I thought they were damp at first. Apparently a lot of the toys in the toy room are broken and dirty. There's no way they come and clean them every day. My daughter came back with black soles on her feet. This is a good place to lay your head for one night but that's the max I'd be able to do.

She rudely asked me to leave again, this time in front of other guests. Her behaviour was unprofessional and made me feel unwelcome, even though I had spent money at the restaurant. I also noticed that her attitude seemed to make other guests uncomfortable, despite my efforts to be friendly. While the restaurant itself was decent, the hotel staff's treatment of me was unacceptable. I would not recommend using the hotel lobby unless you are a guest, as the staff clearly does not accommodate restaurant patrons.

In addition, we wanted to use our credit card points so our selections for this weekend were slim but overall this checked all the boxes. What went well was that our room was quiet. Additionally enjoyed the set up of the room and the amenities such as the body wash and the hand soap. There is some room for improvement at this location in regards to breakfast items. It was very continental and really didn't do the trick however we were able to enjoy bagels, toast, hard boiled egg and they did have a few varieties of fresh fruit. In particular, I wasn't really a fan of the pancake machine and the traditional waffle iron would be much more hardy and suitable. Overall, no major problems with our room however, the TV system is unique and sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn't often to look at Pluto versus even accessing the live channels as their entertainment system is kind of finicky. Additionally, the lotion dispenser in our room did not work, and I really wanted to try the lotion as I thought the fragrance for the body wash and hand Soap was very pleasant. Lastly, the workers at this hotel are just not very friendly. They're not rude. They're just not hospitable and that was evident from the front desk to the breakfast attendance to the maintenance person. They just were not very friendly or engaging at overall. If in this area again, I would stay at this hotel if the price point was right. overall it was a good value and close to St. Joseph while having the charm of Stevensville.

In other words we were lied to on numerous details. I made a reservation 5 weeks in advance of arrival for a king room with sofa bed. This would accommodate My husband, myself and my 16 year old son. This was already less than what we really needed but we were told this was all that was available. My son could at least have the sofa bed. Then I was told by the front desk clerk and manager (with a heavy attitude of indifference & deference) that there was "nothing they could do that they were sold out" no offer to check other locations no apologies no show of sympathy no concern at all. I was told that because I booked with Expedia, it was really their fault/responsibility and not the Hilton. I countered that it was also the Hilton's responsibility to stand by reservation agreements. The manager basically sneered at me and accusingly said that I made the reservation with Expedia - a 3rd party and it was no responsibility on their part. She claimed that I "got the best daily rate of $248 vs the $278". Uh, excuse me I paid $394.99 per night" We reluctantly decided to check in and call Hilton corporate. I was super tired after our long distance drive. We were also told that the "complimentary breakfast" is not complimentary. That actually the breads danishes fruit were included but that the eggs bacon etc would incur added cost. I spent an hour on the phone with corporate and am now waiting for a promised call back....
