Horrible customer service! I have used Silva for a total of three jobs (first was to install kitchen cabinets when remodeling back in 2012, second was to refinish the cabinets they installed in 2012 and third was to install built in cabinets, wine racks and a buffet into our dining room. (I also had them install in my moms house and she had some headaches with Silva but that's a different review to be done later). When we did the original install back in 2012, we were impressed by the work. The cabinets were well made and looked great. We installed painted (white) cabinets and as you would expect over time the paint started to fade, chip etc out of usual wear and tear. Given normal wear and tear on painted cabinets, we asked if Silva could refinish these cabinets and they agreed. At the same time we asked them if they can install built in cabinets, wine racks and a buffet into our dining room. This is when their true customer service became apparent. When refinishing the kitchen cabinets it is necessary to take the cabinet doors off. Upon reinstalling the cabinet doors in our kitchen we noticed that some of the alignments were off, and some of the drawers didn't close properly. In addition, the newly installed bult in cabinets in our dining room had the same issue. The dining room cabinets are rarely used, so it definitely was NOT from our use but the installation. I did mention this to Ricardo and he said he would come out and adjust the cabinets. A long time passed and i guess we just forgot or didnt follow up. when it came to my mother installing new cabinets I recommended Silva (mistake). I mentioned to Ricardo that if he does my moms job, i finally want them to come out and adjust the cabinet doors which were mis aligned. Silva finally came out and did the adjustments. The day after Silva adjusted the cabinets, one of the plastic pieces on the slides for our utensil drawer broke. It was just bad luck. I called Silva immediately to inform them this mechanism was broken and our utensil drawer "locks up" when closed, causing a bit of a headache for the most used drawer in our kitchen. Almost 3 months passed and i called time and time again just asking if they can come fix this one piece. I mentioned it should be a quick fix as its one piece on one drawer. Well similar to their previous customer service, they NEVER got back to me. I called many times, asking for a date and when they finally gave me a date to come out they NO SHOWED. so i kept calling. they kept saying they are so busy and are not sure when they can come out. I told them it doesn't matter, just give me a date...any date...and stick to it. The receptionist said Ricardo will call me back....did he......NOPE! This morning i finally got ricardo on the phone, he immediately accused me of blaming their workers for "breaking my cabinets". Maybe I was so frustrated I spoke incorrectly so i tried telling Ricardo that I'm not blaming anyone that things happen but he just wouldn't listen. He went off on a rant about many things, speaking to me in an unprofessional way. Voices got elevated and at the same time we both yelled at each other. Ricardo went as far as dropping the F bomb when speaking to me, which i did in return. As a salesman myself, I don't think I have EVER cursed at a customer. You would think after a total of 4 jobs (including my mothers) I would be treated with more respect. The constant delays, no shows, lack of communication and other issues will drive me to NEVER use Silva again. In fact one of my friends when hearing this story this morning told me he needs to refinish his cabinets and wanted to ask me for a recommendation....I told him to stay away. Ricardo will be your best friend when trying to make a sale, but if you read other reviews this isn't the first time he flew off the handle. Its sad that after using Silva since 2012 this is the way I have been treated. bottom line, no one should be treated this way and I do not believe its customer service at all. We are so thankful for the Silva Cabinetry. We had a challenging project that others refused to tackle, namely squeezing some cabinetry into a small space with tight tolerances. The whole team did an exceptional job - from design and concept with Ricardo, to the 3 rounds of color matching, to the product and installation. Silva was recommended to us by a friend but we were very skeptical after reading through the reviews. We took a chance and drove up to Buchanan on a Saturday to meet with Ricardo (the owner) and it's been one of the best decisions we've made during our renovation! Ricardo embraced the fact this was our first ever kitchen project. He was open and honest throughout the design process giving his genuine opinion whenever we needed it - from types of appliances to buy or if ogee edge is still in style or how to tile around a window - the list goes on... We did have a major snafu when his countertop team installed the wrong countertops. Ricardo could have walked away and made this our problem but he didn't. He came over to see for himself and we could tell our happiness with the final product was the only concern of his. Within two weeks the wrong slabs were removed and the correct stone was in place like there was never even a problem! Now that our kitchen is complete we do notice the wood/paint is on the soft side and tends to get dinged and scuffed a little easier than what should be required of kitchen cabinets. I would lower my review to 4.5 stars because of this however none of our dream kitchen would have been possible without Ricardo and Silva Cabinetry! read more

I had some kitchen cabinets cut down and some built to match what already existed in our newly purchased house. 4 months later, the caulking around the crown moulding disintegrated and the doors dropped. The job was under warranty so I called Silva to repair the work. 5 weeks later, Ricardo, the owner showed up with all kinds of excuses as to why it happened. He was screaming and hurling accusations of things we never did or said. It was a completely insane experience that ended with this maniac storming out without addressing the problem with his work. I have never come across anything like this and I've built a house from scratch and have dealt well with any and all contractors. Needless to say, our warranty will not be honored. We recently remodeled our kitchen and our contractor used Ricardo Silva for the cabinetry and countertops. We couldn't be happier with the quality, craftsmanship and customer service. In the beginning of the project Ricardo came to the house numerous times to go over the plans and design of our unique kitchen. He was very in-tuned to the details of every aspect, to ensure there were no surprises along the way. These guys take their craft seriously. I'm surprised at the reviews - but you never know with reviews (meaning, for every bad day, someone can have 10 good days). We used Silva for a built in for our TV. We had a quote from another place. At the advice of my better half, I reached out to Silva for a 2nd quote. Riccardo visited the house, drew up a sketch, and gave me a quote almost half of the original quote. So, we went for it with Silva. The con: you'll need to be patient. These guys are a small shop and you'll need to wait. We put the order in mid-Oct; our built in was installed 4 months later. The pros: We have a beautiful built in. I mean, seriously gorgeous!!!!!!! We live in a very old house (circa 1850s) - and it looks like it. Silva replicated the style of the house with the built in. The guys came over at 8:30am one morning - they were there for 8 hours. I thought it looked great at that point, but they pointed out that they wanted to come back to install toe molding to make sure that there were no gaps whatsoever (neither or floors nor our walls are straight, making these jobs especially hard). I also realized that we needed a hole for the outlet. So the next day, they were back for a few more hours to install the toe molding and do the hole and touch up the paint. I can't recommend these guys highly enough. I am planning to convert a spare bedroom into an office. I was thinking of just getting a desk and calling it a done deal, but given the work they did in our family room, I'm planning on having them back to help me create the office of my dreams. ALL of the paint began to crack within 2 years and now is all peeling off. He blamed it on cleaning products. Would not take responsibility at all. Absolute crook. Very disappointed and feel very taken advantage of. I wish I would have read the various negative reviews about this company. I hired them to build my entire kitchen and a wood shelf (I spent a total of $15,500). I paid upfront for everything but the wood shelf has not been terminated yet. They have taken over 60 days to do it. I have called them several times to follow up on my wood shelf and to have them perform a quick inspection on the top cabinets because they do not properly close. On 12/1/2020 the owner(administrator) became upset over my continuous follow up, cursed me out different times and hanged up on me. They still owe me the money for the wood shelf and the brief inspection for the top shelves have not been competed yet. THEIR JOB AND WORK QUALITY IS NOT GUARANTEED. We built a brand new home,had Silva do our Kitchen,and a bar/kitchenette in basement,some built ins,and vanities! The experience wasn't good,after giving initial deposit,i was always calling to find out when they would deliver cabinets! Never getting return calls,very unprofessional! They did install finally! It's been 8 years now,and I have to say I regret having them do my work! I have had issues with my cabinets wood cracking,splitting and finish peeling cracking and paint come off! Very unfortunate,because they looked so good before it all started to happen! They do not have any customer service,or warranty on their products, at the least! Please, Please, listen to the reviews. Ricardo is the nastiest business owner I have ever encountered. His company should be put out of business. He did work for my son 5 years ago. As someone else said, cabinets arrived, looked great, as the years went on, they peeled, wood split, horrible condition. Now 5 years later, looks worse than my 20 year old kitchen cabinets. Thought maybe we did something wrong. Then read reviews. 4 out of 7 saying exactly the same thing. Now we are 5 and how many more people are out there???? Will try to find out. If I can not get any justice and I will try, they will have to have 5 year old cabinets completely redone. Originally recommended by a friend, I used Silva about 8 years ago to custom-build a vanity for my master bath. The workmanship, style and finish was amazing. After a lot of use, moisture from showers and cleaning, some areas were starting to show normal wear. I called them to see of they could touch it up for me. They quoted a fair price and came for what I thought would be a day of touching up. Little did I know they would disassemble all the door fronts, side panels and trim to bring to their shop for a complete refinish. Needless to say it looks brand new! My review is not how the cabinets looked when installed (fantastic) but how they hold up. There are certain areas of the kitchen that will always take more wear and tear but after a year it was apparent that these cabinets were not primed and started to flake and crack everywhere and even on cabinets rarely used. Now in the process of redoing the cabinet doors and drawers and the very vetted and trusted person who's doing them took one look and said they used (x) type of cheap paint and didnt prime. There was alot of talk how they only use the best paint products - NOT! So, only 4 years after a full gut job and brand new cabinets, they all have to be PRIMED and repainted. We chose Silva for our cabinets and counter top in our new kitchen based on a recommendation from friends who had used them and we couldn't be happier. Their price for custom made cabinets was incredible compared even to stock cabinets! We did go to them about 4 months before the start of our project to ensure they would have plenty of time to deliver our cabinets on time. Not only were they on time, they were one day early! Ricardo, Phillip, and Renee were all very responsive, and helpful. Each step of the way Ricardo had tips and advice from experience that I can now say I am thankful I followed! There was a mistake with our counter and Silva was able to quickly turn it around so that not even a day was lost. Their installation crew was always on time, worked neatly, and were not only extremely skilled, but also very professional at all times. Silva was recommended by our contractor friend. Once the decision made to go with them, Ricardo(the owner) stopped by to work with us on the design. He was very nice to work with and guided us away from some design pitfalls. Once we finalized the design, it took about 11 weeks for them to build it. Installation was done in a day. I would like to warn you about Silva Cabinetry and Stone. We paid for cabinets and a quartzite countertop. Unlike my friends the cabinets were made on time. Some of the cabinets are not aligned properly and do not close. They said they would come back several times. They haven't showed in now 10 months. However the stone top is the problem. The stone was cut too short (about 1/2 inch short!). The cuts are jagged. And the quartzite is not a good piece. It is not smooth and there are cracks in it. We are extremely disappointed. Because they did such a poor job on this basement project we did not use them for our kitchen. We found a higher quality company that was less than the cost of Silva. I would never recommend them and would never use them again. If you think you are getting a good deal, walk away. read more

DO NOT USE SILVA CABINETRY!! The entire experience, from start to finish was UNPLEASANT. Our architect designed the cabinetry, and gave the drawings to Ricardo and Miro. They created their "shop drawings," with no attention to detail, and mistake after mistake. My architect had never worked with Silva, and was baffled at their lack of competence. They did not keep their word about how long it would take to complete the work....it took one month longer than what they quoted. When you called to find out the status, Miro would tell you, "it will be ready very soon," but never delivered on his promise. Cabinets were finally installed, and SEVERAL MISTAKES were made, requiring multiple visits back to fix and repair. Ricardo initially was responsive, realizing that his workers made errors. We have continued to have issues with the cabinetry, and Ricardo eventually stopped returning phone calls or responding to emails. He even had the audacity to claim that we did not pay him our balance, when I had a copy of the check which he cashed! SILVA DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK. SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CABINETS. Their quote was less expensive than others we received, which is why we went with them...BIG MISTAKE.
