This is a great little neighborhood hardware store on University. It sits back behind Fillipo's…read morePizza Restaurant so it's not immediately visible, causing me to forget that it's there. I recently needed a duplicate key made for my mailbox and went to the US Post Office on Ringling. They couldn't do it that day, but told us to come back a few days later when the "key maker" was in, and that the charge was 25.00 per. I then went to Home Depot. They did not have the capability to make the key. The employee at Home Depot referred us to DG's. I should kick myself for forgetting about this store. We've been here several times and are always met with friendly and helpful staff. This time was no different. They duplicated two mailbox keys for us in less than 5 minutes and the cost was 5.00 for both. We have in the past had doors and windows re-screened here and they've always been friendly and professional. They go the extra mile being a local neighborhood store.

Help was there as soon as we entered the store. He took to exactly what we needed. Highly recommend.read more

In ancient Chinese culture, a beach vacation is not complete without a visit to the local Ace…read moreHardware store. And boy was this store the cream of the crop. But first, we had to create an excuse to visit this Mecca of hardware stores. Upon arriving at our beachside Airbnb, we found the shower too luxurious with great water pressure and nice hot water. So we naturally had to tamper with the showerhead until it broke. So with a broken showerhead in hand. And a heart full of excitement. We arrived at this 8th wonder after a morning detour to go kayaking. Dressed in our Saturday best of swim trunks and tank tops, we wandered the aisles in wonderment and awe. Their selection of showerheads were simply magnificent. This Ace Hardware store may have set the bar too high. And we'll never again feel this level of happiness. But so goes the double-edged sword of finding perfection. Well maybe it wasn't perfect. They need all their barcodes to scan properly. But this certainly doesn't take too much away from an experience and story we'll be passing down our family tree for generations to come.

The cashier was extremely rude. Right off the bat he was about to let another gentleman but me in…read moreline even though I was first in line. I had to pay $17 and some change in and the rest on my card and the card wasn't working so I kindly asked to remove one of the two bags of soil. He was huffing and puffing the entire time and I was being polite the whole time as well. As soon as I got my receipt, I moved out of the way very quickly. Then he said sorry for the wait to the man behind me and then the man said yeah it probably should be easier- basically it's passive aggressive commentary about me so they were both gaining up on me and being extremely rude for no reason, it's really pathetic how ignorant people can be when they have no idea what kind of health condition a person might be dealing with. I could be dying with cancer, and I do have a traumatic brain injury and am starving and barely surviving single mom. If I had a bunch of items to ring up, then it would've taken much longer. It didn't even take that long, so they were just being extremely rude for no reason I'm going to call and get the gentleman's name so I can make a complaint because it's very unacceptable and wrong.

The manager, Charles Lawhorn, took my suitcase to the workroom and managed to loosen the zipper from the garment with a wrench and literally saved the day for me! I had to pack for a flight the next day and would have had to buy a new suitcase at the last moment and forfeit a new silk kimono. He refused to accept payment for this kind act. Their customer service at this location is consistently outstanding and it's such a relief to have someone to go to when one needs help , which seldom exists in this day of online big box stores. I am so very grateful for Mr. Lawhorn's kindness and willingness to help an old lady in need.
