Several other places I consulted with had me running around between them and my eye doctor (not ideal) and priced extremely high for the same outcome and care. Pros: N/A Cons: I scheduled a free consultation for vision surgery. Upon arrival, I was told that the diagnostic exam would be charged to my insurance by two staff members. I cancelled the consultation because this was a warning sign that this medical practice might charge insurance companies unnecessarily. Within ten minutes of me walking out, I received a call from the staff saying the doctor would still like to see me even if I refuse to pay a consultation fee. A doctor called me later that evening to apologize for the confusion on the consultation fee. I asked twice about the price of the procedure and received two different prices; about $1000 difference. I came here for a consultation about my droopy eye lid and immediately Dr. Rajjoub knew where and how to move forward with my condition called ptosis. I had a wonderful experience today. I came to the office for a glaucoma consultation. I had my eyes checked by an optometrist and recommended surgery. The procedure is scheduled 8/4. While waiting for the surgery, I consulted with my girlfriend's husband who is an Opthalmologist. He did not recommend surgery and advise to seek for a second opinion where I found Dr. Silk via Yelps. After the exam by Dr Silk, he too did not recommend surgery. This is the first time i have ever written a review online for any place but i have never left a doctor's office so upset i just had to share. I have been suffering from a watery, swollen eye for months and have been to numerous doctors who couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I chose this office based on reviews but I regret ever going there. I don't have insurance and made sure they Knew that when I booked an appointment. The receptionist on the phone quoted me between $90-$115 for my visit. When I got there, Dr Silk examined my eye and told me I had a blocked tear duct. He asked if he could try draining fluid through it to see if any would go through, I said yes. He then got a syringe and used a blunt needle to poke my tear duct. It HURT. He said he couldn't see it properly so he tried again, first with brighter lights, then ocular goggles, then a magnifying machine at multiple settings. By the end of it I was shaking and in tears and asked him to stop. He never even made it into the tear duct but stopped anyways and told me he would refer me to another doctor because he said his facility didn't have the equipment to finish the job. Mind you this is an EYE SURGICAL CENTER and all I needed was to unclog a tear duct. He then told me to wait outside and left the room. When I checked out, I was told my bill was $245 for "having a procedure done". What procedure??? He couldn't even get in my eye, sent me to someone else and charged me MORE THAN TWICE what was quoted on the phone. I told the receptionist I was told it wouldn't be more than $115, and she said she could drop it down to $210. Still almost twice what I was initially told!! Not once did the doctor or anyone tell me it would cost more to repeatedly poke my eye, which isn't even a real procedure. He didn't fix anything with my eye, instead told me to see someone else. The receptionist apologized but I still had to pay for this "procedure". I've seen multiple eye doctors and this is by far the worst visit I have ever had. The didn't even give me notes to give to the doctors they referred me to, instead I was told by doctor silk to just make an appointment and let the other doctors figure out what to do. I asked the receptionist for doctors notes and she was able to provide them to me. I'm very upset, I wish I would have been given more information on his findings and didn't have to leave in tears, out $210 and an eye that felt worse than when I had gotten there. Dr. Silk takes his time in examining every aspect of potential ophthalmic issues. He started out as my boss' (wife's) eye doctor, and now everyone in the family is his patient. Don't hesitate to make an appointment, even if all you need is your vision tested. One should get eyes dilation tested, at least once a few years. It's surprising to me that how many of us take our vision (and eye health in general) for granted. Glaucoma is practically irreversible, but it can be mitigated if caught in early stages.
