I had another really disappointing visit last week at Sight MD. This was my second time there and I waited 2 hours for a less than 2 minute conversation with Dr. Marcantonio. Not only was I greeted with " I have another eye emergency next door, so what's up?" but was also extremely rushed. If the wait time was not so poor and the doctor seemed like he actually cared about my concerns, this would have been a much more positive experience. However, I was rushed out having many more questions and concerns, and was not given the proper attention. I paid a $25 co-pay to be told that my 4-month long eye issue "needs to run it's course" and "take over the counter eye drops" A waste of 2 hours on my Saturday afternoon. Ps, according to other patients, this place is known for it's terrible wait time. read more

Although I've been going to this practice for over 60 years since Dr Sid Martin was located on Maple Ave, what I experienced today is mindboggling. Let me state upfront, I have NO ISSUE with the Dr. Kumar. He is excellent, knowledgable and takes his time to inform and answer all questions. If it weren't for him, I dont think I'd go back after the UNBELIEVABLE behavior and treatment of the reception area. First of all, the 4 women in the reception desk were having a loud and quite vivid discussion about the use of tampons. YES- tampons !!!! The discussion, how to insert, mishaps with and the use of these feminine hygiene products was quite descriptive and WAY TOO inappropriate for me to descirbe the entire conversation in this forum AND for the entire waiting room to hear, which everyone did hear !! Second, there was a man with an appointment with my same doctor that was talking to me in the waiting area and told me when his appointment was which it was AFTER mine. He told the desk he had to get back to work so they took him BEFORE me. I asked why and two of the receptionists walked away and began to whisper to each other. SERIOUSLY !! Dr Nichols @ Sight MD performed eyelid surgery & removed a mole from each eye area. The whole process took 1/2 hr at the Brentwood surgery center, post op another 1/2 hr. Dr Nichols is a highly qualified plastic surgeon who has a good bedside manner. Two months later I am almost completely healed, and have had very little discomfort. We can only support the negative reviews and just recently visited for a total of 3 hours for 5min with the intake tech, 5 min with the doctor and 10 min with the surgical coordinator. Total 20 min in the three hour wait. This is no longer the firm we've used for 45 years. I believe it's now owned by an equity firm that buys organizations and maximizes their investment. I have it I should say had a 10:15 AM appointment. It is now 11:15. I still not have seen the doctor. My thinking is that they have double booked appointments. That leaves us patients sitting in a waiting room. The room is quite full of people. The office manager is asking people to wait outside. My thinking is that the office should of called us patients and told us to come in at a time when you do not have to sit in a full waiting room so far for an hour plus. One other patient who was vocal is going on two hours. They are not performing surgery here. Maybe minor emergencies, maybe. I am not very happy and or comfortable sitting in a waiting room during Covid for hours. Shame on them for not calling us patients and giving us a time to come in where we do not have to wait hours. I was appalled by the behavior from the Door man signing you in, as well as the office manager. Plain n simple this facility was ridiculously covid paranoid. Forcing their masks, their hand sanitizer on entering patients is absurd! Especially now that their is NO COVID! My son and I had an appointment, our first to this smithtown office. We were both wearing masks, just not their masks . Refusing their masks is what irrupted the ridiculous behaviors with the attendants of this office to the point where the police were called. When the police arrived of course the female manager went on and on with her ridiculous made up story when basically I was not going to wear their mask, nor was I going to use their hand sanitizer. I dont know what she expected the police to do, I was not breaking any laws. In fact trying to force myself and my son to do as they deemed necessary to enter the sight MD's office was ! They were very lucky I was not interested in pressing charges . I have better things to do with my time. One was definitely to finding an eye facility that made sense. If you enjoy being part of a "cattle call" then SightMD is for you. You will sit in the waiting room for hours..after having a 1 minute test done..ushered into another waiting room. You have to anticipate 2-3hrs for your appointment..10 minutes of this time is actually spent with your doctor. Look for a more personalized experience. read more

i want to give a shout out for the best comfort, care, promptness, compondent and most important the results of my cataract surgery by Dr.Jeffrey Martin at Site MD, Smithtown. he was so amazing giving me such comfort and much needed cataract surgery. so attentive, pleasant and the results of seeing without glasses after 30 years is beyond . I am ever so grateful and thankful for his hands of gold. the surgery center in Brentwood was another thankful to the lovely anesthesiologist, nurses, pleasant, comforting care they gave me A department full of empathy and cleanliness. I I can't say enough to praise and thankfulness I had experienced.! my follow up with Dr Alex Shin, unbelievable comfort level, answers every question patiently. I walked out of there feeling so blessed, I used the best safest competent dr.s that gave me my vision back, considering I only have vision in one eye! read more

Pros: Dr M is a great doctor and very professional patient manner. Cons: the wait times are inexcusable. First appt I had when I needed to wait an excessive amount of time I just dealt with it. Things happen. The second appt wait time was even worse and that was it for me. I even made a point of scheduling the first appointment when they opened. It didn't matter. Still held hostage waiting. I'm sure all of the doctors there are great. However the patient scheduling and lack of consideration for patients' time sent me to another practice. I have no complaint with medical care at Site MD other than they do every test they possibly can every time I go. I cant believe this is medically necessary. My big complaint is they overbook like crazy. I've been in the office now almost 2 hours and I still haven't been seen. And three patients that came in after me were seen before me. I am greatful that the office was able to fit me in the next day due to a problem that I was having. I understand the wait time. There were too many people in the waiting room for the amount of space during Covid. You are permitted to enter the building without a temperature check and sit there until they start the check in process, then they check your temperature. The Technician was very nice. She did thoroughly clean the machine to check my eyes. I did not see anything else being cleaned at all. Dr. Richter was nice I advised him that I am very nervous regarding eye exams. He prescribed medications that seem to work. Many people seemed to waiting a long time, even with non emergent scheduled appointments. read more

I had Lasik done on both eyes on Jan 23rd with Dr, Martin. Lasik was the worst decision of my life everyday feels like I'm living in hell. Serverly DRY EYES, burning, pain, halos, starburst, itching and UNDER EYE BAGS for over for 8 months now! Lasik RUINED my life! I use to be such a happy person who enjoyed being a mom ect now I pray I don't wake up everyday. I honestly feel like the only way I'm be pain free is when I'm dead. I can't look in the mirror anymore because of the horrific UNDER EYE BAGS that Lasik has left me with. I was in the final interviewing process for Suffolk PD that dream is now gone! I was set to get married that dream is gone because I can't leave my house due to the under eye bags! I was going to have more children that dream is gone! That's what Lasik has done to me. Destroyed my life! I don't go out, I don't enjoy living anymore. I have to put drops in in my eyes 25 times a day just to TRY and keep them moist. I'm on the verge of loosing my job due to this nightmare. I've spent thousands of dollars on treatments to try and relieve the pain I'm in everyday. I've seen so many doctors that have confirmed I have extremely dry eyes and nerve damage. I asked before the surgery if I was a good candidate and was assured I was. I asked would breastfeeding be a problem I was told no... I since had to stop nursing my son due to this NIGHTMARE! I told the doctor that I had allergies. Not a problem I'm told now I can no longer take any antihistamines. I told the doctor I had a rare nerve condition IC again this was not a problem. I even went so far as to have a lip biopsy to check for Sjögrens which was negative! I will not stop telling my story and will update my review several times a year because people need to know how lasik ruined my life. Still paying for this nightmare too! I was told I could get a refund if I signed a release which I assume relieves them of any wrong doing. Unbelievable. This is a nightmare and I don't know how much more I can handle. Lasik has made me suicidal. DO NOT GET LASIK! DRY EYES AND UNDER EYE BAGS FOR EVER AND NERVE DAMAGE. YOU'LL NEVER BE THE SAME. read more

Two visits here and second will be the last. Drove 45 minutes to the office to wait and then see a doctor who barely gave me 3 minutes of his time if that for a consult. He was also clearly not interested and cold in his demeanor. I went last year, and though got a thorough exam, was the same non engagement and impersonal cold attitude of that doctor that I was not happy with. I was thankfully highly recommended to an eye doctor with Northwell and had a completely different experience, the difference being feeling valued as a patient, and will NOT be going back to Sight MD. Came to Sight MD today and was told i owe 50 bill for no show. I can not recall. Told them i need to research this. The girl at front desk say loud the the other worker "you know when you miss a appointment". While there are ppl in the waiting room. I lost it! She was rude, unprofessional and talked my business aloud. There is no supervisor available. When i get loud to address it I'm told I'm wrong. Sometimes the assumption is that because you are the patient and loud you are the problem. I've been coming here for years and never experienced such nastiness. read more

If you want to fell like your being herded like cattle, you will like this place. Also, I found that if you want to use your cell phone to search your favorite websites when you are waiting way past your scheduled appointment, they block certain sites like FOX News. Whether you like FOX or not, the point that they are using their ISP to block sites reminds me of "Big Brother" watching you. Now I found this to be true at the Smithtown location. At the Huntington office you can use your cell service, however at Smithtown there is no Verizon and AT&T cell service in the building. By the way, the Huntington team of Sight MD is much more friendly and wait times did not seem as long. read more

I went to Sight MD because they accept our eye care coverage. When we arrived at our appointments they asked for my Medical coverage card and would not take the eye coverage card. Now they are telling me that I chose a medical appointment as opposed to a simple check up. SCAMMMMMM. read more

My first visit in this location for my yearly eye exam was great. I was comfortable with the doctor, the wait time wasn't too bad, my few questions were answered. Not when I went back for an issue- an eye ulcer. The doctor I had an appointment with, Dr Kumar was sitting in an office on his phone as I walked by. Okay that's fine, but when he walked out I thought it was our appointment time since it was slightly after. Nope, he went to the patient before me. When he came in he told me what the treatment was. I had already gone to a doctor close to work, but needed a doctor close to my house So i knew it what the medicine was. He dramatized the situation saying I can lose my eye. This is true if the issue was in a different area of my eye. I had to go in for daily visits and his exact words were "don't worry you will not have to pay a copay each time". I made my appointment for the next day in the downstairs location and again was told i would not have a copay. The next appointment I was told I had a copay. I explained the above. The girl at the front desk, Jodi kept walking away and coming back with the same information. I was pissed and she knew it but i explained I was mad at the situation and definitely not her. She spoke to her supervisors who were in the office- Mya and Keri And the doctor who told me I wouldn't have a copay - Mukesh Kumar. Not one of them handled the situation, they left it for Jodi todo. I was very frustrated since i was paying a sitter to come to this appointment and height of the supervisors or doctor apologize for the miscommunication. I asked for a letter confirming I would not be charged since i was now not going to be seen because it comes off as the doctor cares more about a copay than the medical situation. I waited a few days and spoke with Elaina who I let her know how frustrated I was and how i didn't have much trust for the office based on what happened. She apologized and understood where I was coming from being so angry and she would be speaking with her team about where to improve. She asked if I was charged a copay and when I said No she said that if I had a copay she would have waived it because of what I was told by the doctor. What do you know.. a couple weeks later i get I bill in the mail. I call and leave a message for Elaiana. She has Diana from billing call and it was a waste of time. I explained how I was frustrated being told one thing and the opposit being done. She talked over me, and told me it was illegal to waive a copay. Which just made me more frustrated and angry. The fact is that the staff at this Sight MD location says one thing and does another, including the doctor I saw. I Have no trust for Sight MD, any location since 3 out of 4 visits and multiple staff members at this location have shown me not to trust why would i go to another location or let any of my friends or family possibly be put in a situation of being told one thing and another when the ball was dropped so many times with a small situation. Prepare to wait hours. Every appointment I've had has taken 2-3 hours. This is not an anomaly- there are ALWAYS dozens of people waiting, complaining, leaving. While the doctors are good, there have got to be better options. When I had my cataract surgery, I didn't even see my doctor but for two minutes! Nor did I see him for two follow up appointments. I made an investment in my sight and it has been an amazing week thus far. I am looking forward to the rest of my life with this life changing experience. 2 hours wasted and I never saw the doctor. I arrived at 10:15 for a 10:30 appointment. A technician saw me at 10:30, he put the dilation drops in my eyes and at 10:45 he said Dr. Martin will see me in about 20 minutes. 45 minutes later I started asking when he would see me, I was told just a few more minutes. At 12 o'clock I asked again and recieved the same answer. At 12:10 they refunded my co-pay, and I left with dilated eyes never having seen the doctor. Then they asked if I'd like to reschedule... The Sight MD Smithtown office was terrible! Dr Baharestani was good but the office is clearly a business first and all they care about is making money. The Dr posts some really nice before and after pics of his work online, so when he asked, "Do you mind if I take a picture?" I assumed that it was for him or just for my file. Then I was billed a 2nd copay for the same visit because the billing dept lists the picture he took as "tests". So the picture he took cost me an extra $25. I only paid 1 copay at the office and then they mailed me a separate bill just for the picture he took! Such a billing scam! I tried calling the dr but they would not put me through to speak with him since he is the only one allowed to waive the extra fee. I could only speak with the billing dept and they said if I didn't pay it, they would send it to collections. They would NOT waive the extra copay and would not let me discuss it with the doctor. The office staff, especially billing, was rude. I will not be returning to Sight MD. read more

I always boost about my ophthalmologist. I've been seeing Dr.Kligman since I got diagnosed with Lupus (fun fact he's the reason I found out I had lupus, because he told me he believed I have sleep apnea due to my droopy eye lids which then lead other doctors to find my auto immune disease as well) and he's such a gentle kind hearted man. He always listens to me and addresses my concerns. If you need an ophthalmologist Dr.Kligman is by far the number one person to see. read more

I feel misled at best, possibly scammed, after coming here. I called to make an appointment for my wife, telling them that she wanted to change her contact lenses due to discomfort. They said sure, make an appointment and come in. Day of, we told the assistant who did the initial check the same thing - need new lenses due to discomfort. Sure, she said, let me dilate your eyes (after doing a terrible job checking her existing prescription, giving up despite it being clear that my wife still could not read the letters and was suffering double vision) and you can go wait for the doctor. An hour later, we finally see the doctor (for all of 2 minutes) and he says "Oh, we don't change contact prescriptions here, you need to go to another place. But your eyes are dilated, so don't go today." He even said he is an eye surgeon who does LASIK, not regular prescriptions... so WHY did they set us up with an appointment with him?! Didn't do a new prescription, didn't check her eyes. 2 hours of my life gone for NOTHING, and on my wife's one weekday off we can't actually fix the problem because they stupidly dilated her eyes even though any person working there should be aware of whether they do contact lenses or not. They deserve zero stars and if they charge us anything I intend to dispute it. We received no medical services from this office. Edit: I received a call from both the Doctor and the office administrator who were considerate in clearing up this matter. I've revised my review to reflect that. It was still a waste of a day to have been admitted when I was clear about exactly what we were looking for, but I no longer feel scammed. read more

The first thing the doctor said to me before even looking at my eye was "have you ever considered LASIK?"... seriously? I'm in pain, have been waiting over an hour to be seen by you and you're telling me about lasik surgery. I was instructed to come back two days later and another 3 days after for an eye infection. At this point I have been to the office 3 times, having to pay a $25 copay each time to see the doctor for 5 mins and wait an entire hour to be seen. Do not recommend this place. They are so clearly money hungry and none of the information is consistent with the doctors. read more

As far as the quality of care, I would rate them higher, but their billing has been a nightmare, to the point I am leaving this practice. I left my previous practice because the doctor I saw moved to another location. For both visits at Sight MD my billing was wrong and I spent so much of my time on the phone with the billing department. They told me it was an insurance issue, but when I called my insurance, they said it was an issue on how they coded the visit. Now again, I got another and different bill and had to spend my lunch hour following up. As it was explained to me, even though the practice accepts my insurance, in addition to my copay, any amount not covered by insurance, they will bill. This is the only practice in all my years that has chosen to do something like this. read more

Highly recommended for cataract surgery, especially Dr. Martin doing it! The only downside that i can think of is that, even though they are up to date with their eye services, they really need to add online bill paying. It would save a lot of time for all involved! read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever. While the physician staff do their best to be professional and available, support staff is unhelpful and rude. Additionally, their "online" process is simply unusable. I have made several attempts to address a measly $65 bill inappropriately added after a supposed appointment cancellation. I definitely made the right decision by choosing North Shore Eye Care for my LASIK surgery! I was extremely nearsighted with astigmatism. As a musician with sensitive eyes it was difficult for me to wear my contacts all day and night between school, work and concerts, and wearing glasses with astigmatism was difficult. Dr. Mauro was great at explaining everything to me about the procedure, answered all my questions, made me feel comfortable and relaxed during everything! They also match prices of their competitors so I went over to another place that had a better deal, got their quote, and went back to North Shore - saved $400! read more

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! The staff are all super nice and the facility is very clean. Loved how they all shared their own lasik experiences, which helped me feel extremely comfortable throughout the process, since I knew what to expect. Dr. Mauro is great, something about him makes you feel at ease, I think that's why I wasn't nervous at all going into it. From start to finish everything went very smoothly, the procedure itself was very quick. It was painless, I felt a little pressure but that's it. I'd say the most uncomfortable part was the first few hours after the procedure, kind of feels like you got poked in the eye, for eye surgery I was expecting a lot worse. By the next day I was already seeing 20/15. Hands down the BEST choice! read more

Waited a long time to get an annual eye exam and when I got there they said the Dr. does not take my insurance, BUT on the phone they said the Dr. does take my insurance. I get that mistakes happen but I should not be told this as I check in for my appt, there should be someone checking this at least the day before. A complete waste of time for me and time is something I don't have much of these days as a full time student and worker. Extremely disappointed and frustrated with SightMD. I needed to check out a new opthomologist and noted on site that they listed doctor as specialist in glaucoma. Technician was fine as I went through eye tests then went to Doctor. Might have been Dr. Bainison since that's who I had the appointment. Five minutes with him, couldn't understand what he was saying. Then went to "front desk" for scheduling appointment and was told I was also being scheduled for a hearing doctor appointment. I'm going back to my original opthomologist in Smithtown. They seemed more interested in a Botox Event they were having. Just an opinion. Tech. was lovely. read more

Nice enough people but unreal every single time I go it's hours of waiting past my appointment time, they are overbooked and or under staffed have had to return several times(3-4) to get the exams completed. I have to have my eyes examined every 6 months due to medications I take. And to rearrange my day planning on 2 hours for the appointment which turns to 4 or 5 hours because of what appears to be chaos than having to return because of something or another it's extremely distressing. I don't plan on returning after today, I walked in for an 845 appointment waited 15 minutes just to overhear them tell another paitent that 4 techs didn't show up and it would be an undetermined wait and there were only 4 patients in the waiting area. I understand booking tight to minimize machine downtime but not so overbooked at the expense of a patients time not everyone has all day to wait past an appointment time. read more

On my first visit for cataracts, they did numerous tests and then I was handed a paper with out of pocket costs and quoted for standard and premium IOLs with or without laser by Dr.Martin. Second visit was pre-op visit and I wanted to inquire about multifocal IOL #1 I was told that my right eye has astigmatism and my only option was a standard Toric IOL.#2 Why was this not discovered in initial exam.#3 My optometrist, another ophthalmologist told me my right eye has a mild cataract but Sightmd was more than willing to do both eyes as I was encouraged and/or led by there assistant to state yes to all the questions on form for vision problems. My assumption is that form was for health care company to justify surgery on both eyes #4 When i asked Dr.Martin if a Multifocal Toric IOL is available i was told there are no Multifocal toric IOLs available ! I went home and researched and found out they are available. (See attachment) FDA approved multifocal Toric IOLs 04/28/21 it is on FDA website. You can also Google "are multifocal toric IOLs available" and its obvious they are. I went to Sightmd because of their reviews but obviously i had a bad experience or they are overrated. read more
