Updated on Nov. 3 2017 ~ Shady Business Practices Alert ~ This review is now being updated as public record as we have proof that this company is doing shady practices. This company and its employee, "Luke" the install technician, has lied to myself and my parents who are both in their mid 80's. I have proof of this statement and have photographs to back it up. Both myself and my Mother, have called Severs Security and told them we wish to cancel effective immediately, my parents new contract with them that was signed on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 and to send us a written confirmation of the voided contract to our home address immediately. While on the phone, I mentioned that we will contact a lawyer if we do not receive a letter in the postal mail stating that our contract is voided per our request as they agreed to on the phone. My parents and myself were not told of anything about the price or terms of this contract as my sister, Janet, was gifting this company's services to my parents and was handling the payments although my parents names are on the actual contract. I will update this review as soon as I receive the written letter of confirmation of the voided contract in the postal mail and the issue will be dropped. We have had many issues with this company from the moment that Luke left our home on Wednesday Nov. 1 2017. When I first posted my review here on Yelp, the following morning, I got a call from Seviers Security concerning my negative review. The manager, did not sympathize with my concerns and showed no empathy but went right ahead and defended his employee. At which point I started to get angry because he was not interested in apologizing or "Making things right with the customer" - I decided to hang up the phone Below is the play by play of our experiences - with dates ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Update on Nov. 2 2017 Note: Phone Call from Sievers Security The morning after they came to our house to install a new security system: I was contacted by Sievers Security this morning concerning my review but instead of trying to make it right, the caller just wanted to "justify and defend" their technician and rebuke my concerns - If that is all they have to say, I do not have time for that. 1. As my parents agreed, this company likes to "blame the customer" rather than deal with customer issues make things right. I told them that I stand by my original review and hung up. I am not going to argue with these people over the phone for basic things they should either have tried to make right or apologize for. Not a company I would do business with based on that alone. The caller from Sievers Security started getting defensive and I was not going to deal with that again. Make things right with the customer or do not. But Don't call and try to "Justify and Defend". So I hung up the phone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Review and Complaint: Nov 1, 2017 Several complaints about what the Installer, "Luke" did while in our home on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017. I had the following complaints: 1. We do not allow strangers wandering around our home without permission and unsupervised Luke Entered our personal bedrooms on the second floor without permission or asking first as I was not watching him the entire time he was on our premises The Tech, "Luke" or anyone, for that matter, upon entering our home does not have permission or the right, without asking, to wander all around our home including private bedrooms which contain sensitive tech equipment and personal items without "First" asking and explaining why he or she needs to enter there.. Just No!! 2. We were told that we need to search "YouTube" for basic operating instructions for equipment as the Honeywell company no longer printed end user instructions. Update: I opened up the wiring box in our basement and behind the backup power battery, I discovered a folded paper which was in fact the instructions that the Tech,"Luke" told myself and my parents did not exist and that Honeywell, the manufacturer of the control keypad, stopped printing end user instructions - Flat out Lie and I photographed the evidence as well and will gladly share that with anyone needing it a) The unexpected cost of having to purchase the needed equipment and then the company "passing the buck" by blaming Honeywell, the maker of the Keypad.. If Sievers Security is using and selling Honeywell products, then Seivers Security should be responsible for providing adequate "written" documentation on how to use the product as it is a key part of their paid service. b) The technical operating manual was thrown in the trash without our consent or knowledge. I had a friend who has been ranting and raving about Sievers security, she wanted me to write a review since she isn't so tech savvy. When she moved into her home she had ADT install a system, she said she wasn't happy with the level of service or care she got when she had problems, they took forever to come out to fix Once her contract was up she called Sievers and they sent a polite young man who was able to reuse her system and repaired a couple sensors that ADT had improperly installed that had been causing her problems. He tested Everything to make sure it worked. He also took the time to show her every feature of her alarm and how to reduce false alarms. She has had Sievers for several months now. She is super happy with them. And if she ever calls in she always gets a person and never a machine (she really likes that). Due to her enthusiasm of Sievers I have decided to call them out to install a new system in my house since I do not currently have one. read more

Our security system kept breaking and we were tired of feeling vulnerable. The (unnamed) other system went off when the wind blew. We do live in a very quiet, safe community but wanted to feel better about our ground level sliding door from our walkout basement. Just wanted a more reliable system as well as monitoring company. Our technician from Sievers was just a few minutes late but that could have been my miscommunication. He was friendly and definitely knew what he was doing. He was good about respecting my home and my time. We are 3 months out and have been very pleased with Sievers. I like having a locally owned company monitor us too. Just feels safer. Oh - And I thought that since they were smaller they would be more expensive than the big commercial companies but pleasantly surprised to find that they weren't. I think they monitor businesses too, not just homes. Highly recommend. read more

I am incredibly frustrated with this company. They have installed 3 ( yes three) panels - ALL faulty. And each time I waited while a "technician" spent 2-3 hours installing each one. THREE times this has happened! What kind of equipment do they use? Meanwhile I am left without security coverage (they offer to reimburse me for the days I am not being protected, gee thanks- what great comfort while I go without a security system that I get a $1-2 a day credit). Then I get to wait for an available time for an technician to come to my house - where, last time he spent 2-3 HOURS- putting in a new panel? That's 3 hours of my time, what should I charge for that? I want to support local businesses - but if they leave me vulnerable consistently installing faulty equipment or hiring incompetent technicians - I have no choice but to look elsewhere. I am VERY VERY disappointed - I thought this was a family run quality company.... read more

I have been a loyal customer of Sievers for more than 10 years. My system was connected through my landline. A number of months ago I decided to explore switching my system over to a cellular connection. Along with this connection, you can use an app which notifies you when the system is armed and disarmed. Of course, the installation, monitoring and app are all an additional expense but you are able to drop your landline and there are a number of added conveniences. I was quoted a price from a competitor that was just a bit lower than what Sievers was offering me but, being the loyal customer that I am, I decided to stick with what I know and was happy with. I have had a number of issues with the cellular connection and app since Sievers switched it over. They came out once to troubleshoot but the changes did not seem to make a difference. I called them on Friday, 10/26 to get them back out here. I was told that the service mgr had left for the day. In order to get an appt quickly I would have to wait for her to call me back on Monday, 10/29. I never got that call so I called again on Wednesday, 10/31. I mentioned that I was paying an additional amount for the cellular connection and the app which have not been working properly and so I deserved some sort of credit. Again, I was told that I would get a call back. Today is Wednesday, November 7 and I am still waiting for that call. Sievers, where is your loyalty to your customers? Why have I been paying for something for 3 months that isn't working properly? Now I'm thinking that perhaps I should have switched to the other provider. I'm very disappointed!!! read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Recently moved into our new home that has their system. Called 4 times to have someone come out and tech us how to use the system and get it back online. We had a power outage recently and the system started to beep called in and got the royal run around. I was told my account is not coming up so they can't help me . Of course it's not coming up ! You haven't called me back after two weeks ! Finally got to support, same thing the young lady couldn't bring up my account and no account for my address. She was able to detect the system and told me how to power it down and thank god the system stop beeping. But does it take 3 different people to get this right ? I guess I will be going to ADT! read more

Siever's is great as long as you don't need service on your system. No one ever answers the phone in the service department. No one ever returns calls. Absolutely horrible company to deal with. read more

I would not give them any stars but Yelp doesn't give that option! Terrible customer relations, no one returns calls but you get multiple promises that someone will call you back soon! I have asked to speak with a manager or supervisor, I assume the moron who put me on hold, thought I was on hold, when I was not, and I heard them ask, who wants to be supervisor today? It appears they do not care at all about their reputation, which as I have heard from my neighbors, had gone downhill since they are no longer family run. I actually overheard someone yelling at another person while waiting for assistance and they told me it was just their service manager!! Wow! How embarrassing. I have tried to switch my monitoring to them, but thankfully, they didn't seem to want my business so I am currently with a local competitor. I would stay far away from this company, as there are many other very reputable, honest and more professional alarm companies to choose from. read more

I have been a customer of Sievers many years. I keep upgrading my system as my needs change with my advancing years. I like that they are local as I get immediate response if I trip my system. I have needed help and I was impressed how fast help arrived. Whenever servicemen are on my premises, from the initial install, upgrades and installing U-Verse, they are professional, polite, knowledgeable and respect my home. I have recommend Sievers to many people in my condo community and they are all more than satisfied and feel safer knowing they are protected well. If I need help programming the control panel, (sometimes I make changes to it), their service people are kind and patient, if I call in. This way, I feel self sufficient.
