They also have a small boat marina, a swimming pool, a few picnic tables and BBQ pits (charcoal) to use, laundry facilities, lots of chairs and a sundry of other loaner things you'll just find on your patio to take to the beach. The unit was clean, and spacious. Full kitchen. Cable TV for when the rain comes around. The place was quiet, which is nice. The staff was friendly. And I'd give it a fifth star if they had good and reliable wifi to use in the unit (it is the 21st century). I'd also suggest visiting Siesta Key in their "off season" (which is summer, when the yankees go back North lol), because otherwise it's a super busy and crowded island. And even the summer is nice there - this Texan would not call it "hot"... mid to high 80s is nothing.

The condo was very clean and had everything you need, my only complaint was there was no full/body length mirrors, so getting outfits together was kind of a daily annoyance not being able to check in a full mirror before going out. The pool area is really nice. We were able to pay a small fee to check in earlier which was a hugggeeeeee pro as we got there pretty early. But anyway great place, in a decent location, spacious living room/kitchen area, has everything you'd need besides a body length mirrors (if that's something important to you), and very close to the beach and the beach is soooo beautiful especially at sunset.

Gaps in wall trim, gaps in the ceiling, cracked flooring, just overall felt hastily built and not well maintained. It was fairly clean, but the shower did have not one but about 3-4 strands of someone else's hair on the walls. Almost no water pressure in the shower. The towels felt rough and were yellowed. The bed was not horrible, but the sheets could have been nicer. The pillow cases were put on the pillows inside out, making me wonder if they were really washed? Or were they just flipped? There is also a good sized couch that is comfortable and is also a pull out couch. There are extra sheets in the room for the pullout bed as well. The walls are PAPER THIN. 6am we could clearly hear the baby crying next door. We could almost make out the whole conversation of the people next to us. Something I found odd, there is no clock in the room...no alarm clock, no phone, no ice buckets (no ice machines either) No bolt lock on the entry door either. So if someone wanted to use a card to access the room they could no problem. There is a Lavazza coffee maker in the room, I personally hate these and would rather a traditional coffee pot. There is also a nice sized fridge in the room. Check in is across the street in another hotel. It was not easy to find the reservation desk either. It is located through a door in the pool area, really no signs pointing you in the right direction. We had a top floor room overlooking the pool facing the ocean. Although the trees are too tall to see the water, but you can hear it. I do really like the table and chairs outside the room. It was nice to sit and listen to the water at night. The AC in the room worked really well. It is in walking distance of a few places to eat, but not a lot of safe walking space, especially after a heavy rain. Almost every restaurant/bar near by closes at 10pm or earlier. Beach access is across the street on somewhat of a busy road with a blind corner. We did not use the pool but the pool area seemed nice. It was clean, plenty of comfortable seating. Overall not a terrible place to stay, but I do not think it was worth the $350 a night.

Dear James and anyone else reading this, I am the owner of…read moreGumbo Limbo Vacation Rentals on Siesta Key Florida. My name is Virginia Heidersberger and here is my response to your angry review: You booked your last minute vacation through Airbnb and we were pleased to welcome you with an early check in. Your first text message stated that you "loved" your apartment, the decor, as well as the proximity to the beach. Later that same day you sent us another message stating that you find Siesta Key "underwhelming" these were you exact words. You were here in November which is considered as slow season and as expected beaches and the Siesta Key Village were not crowed. Nevertheless, our Siesta Key beach was voted to #1 beach in the nation, so what is there not to love, but I understand that you may have wanted more activity. That same evening you asked us to release you from a 4 day rental agreement due to being "underwhelmed and bored." My management company (at this time I did not manage my property) tried to mediate with you offering you an early departure without a penalty or cancellation fee by accommodating you for only 2 nights and giving you a FULL REFUND for the remaining 2 nights. You disagreed and left after the first night demanding a full refund and if we would not agree to your demand you would write the "worst reviews" on all major web media you can find. All communication was done though the AirBnB portal which proves that you wrote this! Airbnb reviewed your threat and paid us for 2 nights and also refunded you the 2 remaining. We as business owners cannot be blackmailed or threatened with hate ridden and false reviews and I hope that any reader agrees with me. I have owned Gumbo Limbo Vacation Rentals for 21+ years and it is my life. I love being a property manager and getting to know my guests, however it saddens me to find such a poor and false statement on the media. Life is too short to be so angry. Costumer service is one of the hardest, but I love what I do and promise to go ALWAYS the extra mile to please my guests. Please look over the other 3,500 + excellent reviews, or feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions T: 941-266-1858 Respectfully, Virginia Heidersberger

I've stayed at many Airbnb's throughout the last several years and this is the first horrible…read moreexperience I've had. The main issue is the host. I highly recommend to stay away, she proved herself to be a complete liar. The host ruined our first night of vacation. The location is very residential, not a close walk to any bars or restaurants, and at least a 15-20 minute drive to get to downtown Sarasota. The pool was dirty and cold (have pictures where you can clearly see a bunch of debris floating on top). The host also wouldn't let us stay in one suite because she had a family member staying there. He was really creepy. The suite itself was nice, but the patio was awful. It was cramped, and had no view or privacy. The space was small and not competitive with prices in the area. We were disappointed and very kindly asked to cancel our remaining reservation. The host became unresponsive and we got a notification from Airbnb that they were trying to change our reservation to keep the same dates and charge us an additional $151 for absolutely nothing. We tried to kindly reason with her but she tried blaming it on "the owners," which was odd because they advertise themselves as the owners. We have messages from the host stating they aren't the owner, yet she responds to reviews stating she is the owner. It's honestly a little crazy. Eventually, the host stopped talking to us and Airbnb had to step in and cancel for us, Airbnb told us that the host was trying to charge us two nights plus fees for staying one night. Luckily, Airbnb felt the host was unfair and sided with us and canceled the remaining reservation for a small fee. The biggest issue with this place is the host and her lies. If you look through the attached photos you can find a few instances where she lies. She tries to say she isn't charging additional fees, when I have an email asking me to approve additional charges. She says she isn't the owner when she states that she is the owner in the response. She states that Airbnb sided with her and they charged me for two nights when my receipt shows airbnb cancelled after the one night and only charged for one night. I would not recommend this location to anyone, particularly young professionals looking for a vibrant place to stay. She deserves to go out of business due to her tendency to lie.
