Lived here for 2 years in a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. Kitchen and living room space was phenomenal! Had plenty of room to have guests over and not feel crammed. With a washer and dryer in unit this was by far the best apartment I have lived in. Maintenance was always on top of requests completing them within 1-2 days depending on what was needed for the request. Evan (assistant property manager) was very helpful during my move out and made it simple. Would definitely recommend! read more

These simply are the best apartments! I have lived at Sierra Gateway for 3 years and have had nothing but great experiences. The management and maintenance teams are always so friendly. I've lived in a 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom here. The 1 bedroom is perfect for living by yourself or as a couple. It has great storage space, which is shocking for an apartment (the closet in the bedroom had to be my favorite closet I've ever had) and the bathroom was extremely spacious! The 2 bedroom was a perfect upgrade, my brother was moving in so we needed another bedroom and bathroom. Whether you're living in there with a roommate or a small family, it doesn't feel like you're on top of each other. There's plenty of space between the kitchen and living room giving a great open concept feel. Again, great storage in this apartment as well! If you're looking for a new place to live I'd highly recommend Sierra Gateway! read more

Horrible insulation (the worst insulation) in between floors and walls. We almost hear every single step of our upstairs neighbor(every single step)(thank god it's only 1 person living upstairs) Down stairs neighbor is always banging their ceilings. No kids play ground at all. You're not allowed to put anything on balcony. (Highly restricted) The apartment complex shouldn't have been approved by city of Rocklin since the complex can't accommodate comfortable living for its residents. read more

If you plan to live here, expect to be ripped off by the management team no matter what condition you leave the apartment in. My wife and I will be taking Sierra Gateway to small claims court for attempting to keep our entire $500 deposit while charging us an additional $312 under the guise of "painting" and "cleaning fees." This is illegal for normal wear and tear in California, and if a company like Sierra Gateway Apartments/First Pointe Management Group attempts to steal from you upon move out, you have a right to file a small claims case and call them on their BS. Thankfully, my wife and I have photographic and video evidence proving our apartment was left in excellent shape, significantly better than what is considered "normal wear and tear." So we will be fighting this. If you understand fully that this company is run and managed by disingenuous individuals who will do everything in their power to rip you off while smiling right in your face, the apartment complex itself is peaceful and the residents are polite. That, at least, is one positive. But expect 100% for Sierra Gateway to not only attempt to take your deposit, but also gouge you for more as you leave. Take tons of videos and pictures, so that you can fight them like we plan to. Edit: I will add that we dealt with First Pointe Management Group directly at the corporate level, and they were very professional and apologetic, as well as prompt in addressing the issue. So to be fair to First Pointe Management Group, I will amend this review to say that the fault appears to lie entirely with the management team AT Sierra Gateway Apartments. First Pointe Management Group did resolve the issue in a fair and honest manner on their end, but it took us going around the "boots on the ground" management team at Sierra Gateway Apartments. read more

Beware, this apt unit check out is horrible! we paid 750 deposit. only lived there part 9 months. had the unit professionally cleaned the day of move out and offered to touch up paint and was told by office staff touch up paint not needed. we were overcharged for another cleaning and so called touch up paint totaling over $750 the amount of the security deposit. feels like a total scam to keep the deposit. I would have not had the 1 bdrm professional cleaned if I knew they would simply double charge. horrible and these are college teenaged. renters beware!!!! you have been warned!! read more

Our move in transition was so nice and went so smooth, me and my wife and 2 kids. We are so happy we moved in into a 2 bed 2 bath w/ garage. First, Laura (property manager) helped me with the tour, secondly Amber (assistant manager) helped with all the paperwork and approval process she was super patient. You can tell they work as a team and they're all on the same page. Kitchen is beautiful you have a fridge with cold water and ice dispenser! Garage you can control from your smart phone and get Amazon packages delivered inside! Then you have a nest installed to control ac/heater. It truly feels like a home. Pictures don't do Justice. Overall 10/10 and they continue to provide great customer service. I'm glad we chose here to move in as our home! Thank you! read more

I am letting you know , that I will be opening a claim in court , because managers ignored me , did not show the receipt for the work ( move out ) which has been done by their worker and charged me for clean apartment, I requested several times !!! I am so sad to be moving out, living here has been awesome. It raised my standards for apartments and now I'm not sure i'll be satisfied anywhere else lol. Here are my honest pros and cons: PROS: - super nice and open gym, decent amount of equipment, machines and free weights. and good space for floor work too - i enjoy the grill area outside. my husband and i made burgers here many times. core memory - beautiful layout. in love with my white granite-esque island. loved not having to buy a dining table - i enjoy the oven top layout, with the griddle in the middle. it was great for making bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. - maintenance people are sharp and timely! also pest control comes weekly if you need it - the lobby is beautiful. i'm a homebody so don't spend much time there but it would be a great place to work from home. they have free treats, drinks, coffee. - i like that each unit has a balcony. outside time is so important for health and well-being - for a complex that allows pets, people clean up after them very well! haven't had any problems with animal waste, i've actually never seen poop or pee anywhere. - i LOVE seeing kitties in peoples windows and the occasional friendly one that approaches you for pets - it's a pretty quiet area (minus the sierra college road) next to some open land and super nice neighborhoods with mansions. it's close to farm areas, farm stands and "back country roads" which i love - the units are brand new which is nice - it's less than 5 mins away from TONS of churches - less than 5 mins away from TONS of food places, stores, target and walmart, etc. - they had a fall festival with free food and raffles. i won tons of chick-fil-a cards and Beats headphones! it's cool that they try to foster community CONS - there are some small cracks between the floor and the walls which have led to a few problems with ants, especially in our bedroom. (my husband worked in construction so these things stand out extra) - i only met 2 people that speak English... most people seem to be Russian or Ukrainian? - if you want to break your lease early, there is no termination fee or lease takeovers, they lock you into paying rent until it is re-leased. we are currently stuck paying two rents because of this. - WAY too sensitive fire alarm. i can barely get through pan frying zucchini, or baking sweet potatoes, without having the heart attack of the alarm going off. there are times it will go off three or more times while trying to cook or bake simple foods. you hear it going off somewhere around the complex every day haha - the gym has no cubbies - no hot tub - motion activated flights outside that flip on outside my window when i try to sleep - maybe too few dumpsters. you have to lug your trash to them (no trash service) and they are usually overflowing all in all it's been a great experience and i'm not sure my future apartments will be able to match up! read more

Update: We have used Nest Pro for the past 5 years so we were pretty proficient in using it. Let's not deflect the blame on it. According to your own maintenance team, your AC units aren't effective during extreme heat. That should tell you something. In the future, please let your future tenants know that your AC units can cool up to maximum 20 degrees less than what the outside temperature is. We didn't know that before signing the lease. Also, PG&E does have their own rates but what makes it worse is an AC/Heater that doesn't do the job of keeping a HABITABLE environment even after running 24/7. Previous review: If you're interested in renting here, PLEASE READ before doing so. We lived here the past year. It's a beautiful neighborhood and the apartments are nice and new. HOWEVER--we had the worst experience with the AC unit that was installed in our apartment, making our apartment very uncomfortable and inhabitable numerous times. So before you invest your hard earned precious money, give this a read... Long story short, from the moment we moved in and for the rest of the year we would have to turn our AC on 24/7 to try and cool down our apartment (or heat it during the winter). Multiple times it broke down and would blow hot air in the days of extreme heat. Management always came to try and fix it, but would only do things that were temporary band aids and weren't effective in fixing the issue. When we talked to maintenance, they said that the AC units that are installed are designed to be able to maximally cool down only up to 20 degrees of what the outside temperature is. By my calculation, if it's 110 degrees outside....your AC should blow 90 degrees of air..... In the month of July, we had our thermostat set to 76° and our AC was on day and night, 24/7 and would rarely ever turn off. Keep in mind the AC is built within the apartment and is EXTREMELY LOUD. Our PG&E bill for that month was $400+, due to the inefficiency of the AC. That's a utility bill for a 4 bedroom house... I complained numerous times and all I was told by maintenance and the office was that this is just how their AC units are. If that's the case, seems like the property wanted to save money by not investing in high quality AC units when they built these apartments... Moral of the story: Rocklin gets extremely hot in the summer and extremely cold in the winter. Save yourself the torture and money and go live somewhere else where the central cooling/heating systems are adequate and work well to keep your home comfortable and enjoyable. read more

A lengthy read, but please take the time to read as I am fully transparent about the way this company operates. I do not know where to begin honestly, I have been a tenant here since the community opened and going on my 3rd year. I am currently on a 3rd floor plan A unit, which my lease ends one month from today. With the rent increase this past offer was enough to give me the push to move to a larger unit. My significant other was told by their staffing office that the property offers a 3 day move-in grace period for those experiencing: a financial hardship or upgrading to a larger space. When I called back to confirm this information I spoke with their manager, Laura who mentioned that this is typically offered to people in the middle of their lease looking to upgrade. She then told me she would contact her manager for further information to see if there was anything they could do to help. I was then returned the information that this could not be granted, and it is "no longer something they offer." They informed me my new unit would be marketed at $2,565 a month for a move in date of 3/21. I asked if I were to move in by Sunday, 3/23 and turn over my keys early if I would still be liable for the remainder of my lease that is no longer being occupied. They informed me I would, and I would also be liable for a "pro-rated" rent of my new unit along with the entire remaining balance for my current unit. Not only that- but they wanted a new security deposit and holding deposit down. The only thing they could offer me was release of liability from my current unit IF someone moved into my unit prior to my lease expiring. I even asked how the move-ins had been, and the manager even agreed that they have had a higher turnover in people choosing not to renew their leases. Go figure. If I tried to move the move in dates to a closer alignment the price of my new unit jumped astronomically to approximately $2900. Again, another grab for money if you haven't caught on already. Although I am already a tenant, nothing at all is transferrable and they treat you as if you are a brand-new client enrolling. The only pro is some of the in-office staffs kindness through this miserable, money pulling process. Sadly, there is no way for me to speak to the people at the top who are truly taking advantage of a situation / their tenants. I am hoping this is my final lease with this company because after this mess, I would never advise anyone to move in here. We unfortunately could not find somewhere to move in sooner to our lease ending and refused to pay a month-to-month cost of over $2,500 for a 600ft unit. Cheers to over $3,000+ down the drain just to "upgrade" to a larger unit. It does not remove the root of the problem of the community: zero parking especially if you live on the 30-40-and 50 building side, overflooding garbage- despite newly implementing valet trash services and zero pet trash areas for a "pet-friendly" community. Keep in mind the walls are paper thin and even living on the upper floors, you will hear your neighbors below you. Although this management company did absolutely nothing to help my situation, I hope this can prevent others from experiencing the same emotional distress we did especially given the circumstances of our current economy. I love living here! I live in a one-bedroom apartment, and it is very spacious. The interior is beautiful, and the utilities are amazing. New, high performance laundry machines and dish washer. Beautiful bathroom sink and shower. Spacious refrigerator and freezer with ice dispenser. Such a cool pool for summers with new grills and seating, and the best apartment gym I've ever seen - they have a squat rack, cable machine, and stair master! I also bought a garage rental that is long enough to fit my car and extra storage. And the staff has been wonderful! They are a strong team, super friendly and approachable, and are always there to help. They are very personable, and they talk to you how it should be - like they are a part of the community with you. Maintenance has stayed on top of things and has come by if we've ever needed them. I have no complaints about the residents here either. I'm not even a social person but now I'm great friends with my next door neighbors! It's a great community to be in, and I'm so excited to see what it becomes as it continues to grow! read more
