She spent a few days in a non-ICU room for observation, and every single person on her team went above and beyond for her. Attentive RNs, thorough CNAs, amiable orderlies, communicative case managers, helpful social workers, and accommodating nutritionists. She was even visited by a musician who played beautiful, soothing harp music right in her room, which was such a special touch. As guests, our own interactions with the staff were equally seamless, particularly with the friendly security guards, cafeteria staff, and dedicated case managers. The smaller size of the hospital belies the large private rooms with lots of sunlight and plenty of seating for visitors. Everything was clean and tidy too. I would recommend a stay here if the option was given to you.

When the male nurse finally announced my daughter's name he said, "Are you ready to go out back?" The male security whispered to the male nurse, " I'de like to take her out back...." The male nurse responded with, "Alright then!" They billed my daughter even though she told them she was homeless, unemployed and uninsured. I payed and just found out that they reversed payment and sent her account to collections. I called to complain about service and was told that the head of the security department would contact me. I find myself compelled to offer this commentary on my experience at Tahoe Forest Hospital because…read moreI have read some of the reports and cannot believe those people were at the same facility. I am a 94-year-old male adult who believed himself to be in reasonable health for his age. I was visiting family at Donner Lake when I found myself short of breath and the left arm swollen beyond normal. My son drove me to TFH. I entered the emergency room and was immediately seated at the in-take desk. There were two other patients seated in the ER waiting area. My information was recorded quickly and efficiently. I was seated in the waiting area for about 5 minutes before being called to go to the treatment area. The staff helped me get to bed in the ER and shortly I was examined by Dr. Amy Little. We described all my symptoms and she ordered tests. About 20 minutes later she returned and very comprehensively explained that I had problems more serious than I had thought. More exams were ordered and treatment was initiated. Dr. Nicolas Vargas performed a thoracentesis on my left lung cavity and removed 1.15 liters of fluid I did not know was there. This was done in the ER with no pain at all. Dr. Haven Ritchie recommended I be admitted for an overnight stay to make sure there would be no complications from the procedure. She also carefuly outlined other issues about which she had concern in terms that I could understand. By late afternoon I was transferred to a room on the second floor. I was received by Nurse Anne and made most comfortable. I remained in the hospital for another day and a half while they were making sure it was safe for me to travel by air to my home in Arizona. During this time, I was being cared for by Dr. David Richie and Dr. Ann Little. At no time was I left I the dark about my condition. Nurse Anne was extremely attentive and there was nothing I needed that she did not supply immediately. She was the day nurse. I received the same quality care from the night nurse, Amy. I must mention that the quality of the food was excellent. It was more than I could eat and the nurses were very good to me, they allowed me to leave food on my plate. By the third day they had me up and walking in the hall. I was deemed eligible for discharge. The discharge activity was conducted very efficiently. The Dr. sold it to me saying the recovery time is faster while she didn't mention as I would be informed by the Anesthesiologist, that some woman have gone blind from this surgery.I didn't do my homework about this Robotic procedure. After 3 days into my recovery my bladder burst open.I went to Renown a trauma hospital which I highly recommend in Reno Nevada. One of the lasers nicked my bladder and I was stitched up. 4 Years later my bladder burst open again. It turned out that a piece of the robot had been left in my body. The O.R. Nurse was blamed for the incident. My message is this: PLEASE KNOW YOUR HOSPITALS,Do your homework regarding your surgery's.Get a second opinion.And choose to be cut open slowly with a scalpel. Anything robotic is insanity!My message to Barton Hospital please only handle sprains and breaks. Please send all patients to Renown or Saint Mary's in Reno. I almost lost my life twice because I foolishly believed the title Dr. The infection caused me cirrhosis of the liver which I recovered from. I also had several teeth that needed implants. THEN I call back and they tell me they don't take calls until 10 am. SO... She was treated kindly which is very important ( I have done 2 long tours as a missionary in West Africa so good care along with dignity and respect go a long way!) I am not a patient nor have I ever been here as I do not live in this area but the inside looked clean and she was well taken care of! Btw..it's behind the police station and Burger King.
