Jed Coleman pushed back repeatedly on our request for testosterone and neurotransmitter testing, a referral to an endocrinologist and they are either unwilling or completely incompetent when it comes to the needs of gay men and their health issues, even simple STI testing and treatment. Most recently, they were unable to get the necessary medication and told us to just go into a clinic, so what's the point if you primary care physician is more of an obstacle than a resource. I had to go to the PCP to request a STD Extended Screening Panel screening and then went to the lab next door. I had done my research online and saw it should cost just under $500 for the extended panel plus HSV 1 & 2. Once I got the bill i was a bit shocked and called the clinic. They offered to change the charge codes but that did absolutely nothing. The next visit my PCP made a comment on the lab charges and said that next time I should go to one of the free clinics in the area. This is what really grinds my gears. Why did he not suggest this to begin with?! I'm really disappointed in the lack of concern for their patience and makes me feel they get a kick back from the lab. obviously this is speculation but I am just disappointed in this practice and will be looking to find a new PCP. I don't have the means to be dealing with lab bills that are abusively overcharging patients.
