Highly recommend Sid for any handyman projects. He's highly responsive, easy to work With and gets the job done right away. I really appreciated his consultative approach and super friendly. I'll definitely be using his services again. read more

Sid easily fixed a 1950's bathtub faucet leak and saved me a lot of money. As a renter I really appreciated his generosity. He also took the time to diagnose what was wrong with the kitchen faucet. A very skilled, knowledgeable and thoughtful person. read more

Been a customer for over 12 years now - Sid has helped me with my rental apartment's maintenance and decor, assembling/disassembling/earthQuake safety of various furnitures, portable AC installation with special part ording, wall fixtures of various kinds and many others! Sid is extremely thorough and detail oriented to fix the root cause of your problem and makes sure to use durable, high quality materials and fixes things for the long term. He will explain to you in simple words what is wrong and what needs fixing around the house by giving multiple choices of solution with pros/cons so makes it very easy for you to make a decision based on his expert recommendations! He has natural talent in figuring out how things works and has very clever solutions with his out-of-the box thinking for unexpected problems that happen when lived in a place for a long time. An intelligent gentleman, very kind and considerate to accommodate your preferences even if, at times, it means extra work for him! Very easy to talk to, punctual, very clean and neat work and extremely reliable service, and most importantly he is so very honest that makes your job easy in terms of what to expect about timeline and solutions for the project at hand. read more

Sid was professional to work with. He arrived on time and his prices are quite reasonable. I also felt able to communicate with him despite my inexperience in home repairs. I will be using his services again! read more

Sid is the best handyman I have ever hired. I have hired a lot of handy people, some have cost less and some have cost more, but Sid consistently delivers better work than others. First, I must comment on his drive for quality. Every job Sid has done lasts. He fixed a futon couch bed of mine that broke--two legs collapsed. After he fixed it the couch was better than what it was new. Sid has an understanding of design and a brilliant mind that make him a delight to work with. The last project he did for me was to install a carrier pulley system to the roof of my garage. I have one of those plastic boxes that go on top of my wagon to hold my skis. My goal was to pull in my car and have a mechanism to lower the box on top of the car. To make this work Sid had to augment the ceiling and make changes. He did what I asked and he knows me enough to design the system so I could take it with me if I move. I loved that he thought of this. Now, not only is the design awesome for my life now, if I move to new place the install would be less work and I still have the same great design that will now work in any garage. Sid will use recycled materials, and if the job is close, he rides his bike. He has really cool tools that I have never seen before. When he uses the saw to cut wood there is a vacuum attached so the sawdust goes into the vacuum. He always leaves my home clean after every job. I love this about him. My favorite part is I can email him photos of the space, object or thing I need his expertise for and he starts thinking about what is needed. With Sid, I feel like I get my money's worth on every job and his brilliance at design make him the kind of handyman who I would sit down and write a five star review for. I highly recommend him. read more

Sid is a racist who refused to work on my project because I'm not white. One of my rental properties is located in Palo Alto and I contacted Sid to perform some repairs. I communicated with Sid multiple times via phone and email, sent him photos of the repair work, and discussed the job in detail. As soon as he saw my face in a photo, he said "I would rather not take on this project". Sid previously confirmed that the job was not too small, he was available with no schedule conflicts, and that he was easily capable of performing the work. With no other reasonable excuse, Sid said "the driving time will be a significant part of the cost", AFTER I had provided the Palo Alto address to him which is exactly 2.2 miles away from the Palo Alto address listed on his Yelp page. read more

I called Sid to have him repair damaged door locks. He scheduled an appointment, came on time and quickly repaired on of the locks with a simple adjustment. The other lock had a broken part, so he referred me to a locksmith shop in the area where I could get the part. He then returned to my home later that same day, completed the repair and re-installed the lock. His charge was very fair and the whole repair was done at a fraction of what locksmiths would have charged. I will certainly use him on other jobs as the need arises. Peter B. read more

I found Sid on Yelp and was impressed with his reviews, which I can happily say, were all quite accurate. I needed help installing a cat door before leaving on a vacation and he came out quickly, made recommendations on where to put it, and did a professional and neat job. No repainting necessary! If only all "professionals" were as professional. read more

Called Sid to do a job, but unfortunately, I'm out of this service area (I'm located in south Sunnyvale). However, he was extremely helpful on the phone offering tips on how to do the job and even mentioned a couple other places that could do the job in my area. read more

I called Sid hoping he could help with a garbage disposal issue in our office sink. Unfortunately he isn't able to service a commercial property. But he was nice enough to call me back and give me advice on potential fixes and walk me through how to do it. This is definitely above and beyond what I would have expected from anyone. He was so nice and helpful - I wouldn't hesitate to call him for a residential job! read more

Sid is great. Easy to work with, exceptional communication skills, tenacious problem-solving, reliable. read more

Sid did a great job and fast job on the items that needed to be fixed. He is also a wealth of information and advice on home maintenance, and how to avoid home maintenance! I will definitely call him for the next project. read more

I had a small exterior woodworking job in a very difficult location (ladders needed and a bit of awkward space, a bit of crouching and balancing required). Sid was responsive by email and phone, his rates were exceedingly reasonable and he did a top notch job. I recommend him! read more

Sid does a great job but pretty particular about what he will/won't do. I've had several jobs lined up with details shared and and for some reason decide not to do it. But the work he does is first rate. read more

Sid is a very responsive, helpful, flexible, and professional handyman. He came to my rental property on time and replaced the old fluorescent can lights with the LED Iamps within a reasonable time. He also did a great painting job at my last minute request. Sid's rate is very reasonable. We will definitely call him to do any repair work we may need in the future. read more

I called Sid Wednesday afternoon because our front door would not open the last couple of days (been in the house 45 years). (Our house is settling.) He came Thursday morning and fixed the door, although bending the hinge thumbs wasn't an option. It works fine now. While here, he also fixed a sticking interior door and gave us helpful advice on three other projects we need to work on, suggesting we hire a good plumber, etc. I will call Sid whenever I have a problem with this old house that I don't want to or know how to fix. read more

I have many rentals - and do many many repairs - in several different cities - with many contractor's - over nearly 40 years. I made the huge mistake of hiring Sid - who charges the incredible $75 hour. Sid thinks that I am paying for his time. No, I am paying for a RESULT. Sid is very very skilled at running his taxi meter and stretching the job out - with his calm voice, going on and on about his perfectionistic methods - he described caulking a tub that would surely take at least 2 hours - i.e., $150 - when it should be $20-30 MAX!!!! Sid is very skilled - yes I am a corporate trainer with a PHD from Stanford and I can say - with the authority of an expert as judging a person at work - that Sid is very skilled at soothing the fears of know-nothing owners while he bilks them. Replacing a dishwasher should be about $100 - exclusive of the DW. With Sid it was nearly $1000- AND it turned out that the DW removed was fine. After all of his overpriced "work" - the new machine did exactly what the old one did - stop after about 5 min. So Sid came back with his taxi meter and billed me for a few more hours!!!! He doesn't have any "guarantee" or integrity - just a taxi meter. He said there must be an electrical short under the house - but for $75 per hour - he doesn't get dirty going under a house - like ALL other handymen (I don't think Sid has any license) I've hired over 40 years. Sid's concept of electrical work is calling his electrician friend on the phone to discuss it -- at $75/hr - and then to ask me what to do. Duh? I have done at least $500K in repairs and remodels - besides my high training in evaluating people at work - I know what I am talking about. Sid is a money suck and does not deliver for the enormously inflated fees he charges . .. so if you want to pay, pay, pay, pay to be soothed and told a pile of bull - while this "operator" has his hand in your pocket - go hire Sid. Otherwise try Service Magic or whatever it is called to get a bonafided quality person WITH A LICENSE . . instead of a guy taking advantage at highway robbery rates!!!!! A one-star is too high a rating for this rip-off. OH, and then after all of that Sid didn't even know how to write up a bill that was anywhere in the universe of "professional" - something even a 12 year old newspaper boy can do. All Sid does is diddle naive, frightened homeowners in affluent PA - like those writing reviews here - out of $$$ while giving that s--t-eating grin. He's an "operator"!!!!!!! read more

We love Sid! He is extremely smart (a former techie), hugely knowledgable, and he does beautiful and careful work. He repaired the water damaged wood cabinetry under our sink, and it looks brand new. He found perfect replacement handles to fit our faucet, so we didn't have to spend a ton replacing the whole thing. He gave me excellent advice for dealing with the hard water in Los Altos to keep our dishwasher in top shape. And that's just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. There's nothing more frustrating than home repairs done poorly, so save your sanity and get it done right the first time by Sid. read more

After numerous trips to Home Depot to try and get the right drilling equipment to install curtain rods and a mirror into the concrete walls of my office, I finally broke down and decided to call a handyman. Enter Sid...He arrived on time (after hours on a weekend, no less) and really took the time to do a quality job, put down a drop cloth so that the dust from the drilling didn't get on my furniture, fixed some other odds and ends in my office while he was there, and charged a very reasonable $75 for an hour's work. Sid was quite down to earth and easy going, and I'm very glad that I gave him a call. I'm also happy to now have some piece of mind that my mirror and curtains aren't going to come tumbling down on my head and computer (which probably would have happened had I tried to go ahead and do the job myself). Also, given that my office is right next door to a bathroom, it gave me comfort to know that Sid was a professional, and that I wouldn't have to worry about us drilling into a water line, and flooding the place! read more

Sid is an exceptional handyman! He has repaired many things for me with excellent results. Recently I had problems with a refrigerator door. It was a challenge finding a replacement part. Sid persisted until the part could be obtained and the installed it. He is my first call whenever anything goes wrong around the house. read more

Sid is great!! He came by my rental unit in Redwood City and did a bunch of odd jobs. He was thorough and reliable, pleasant to be around and neat. Thanks Sid! You made me and my tenants happy campers!! read more

I also agree that Sid is the best handyman we've ever hired. It's hard to find someone who can just "do stuff" -- graciously, calmly, and well. We called in desperation because my husband is seriously ill and we can no longer keep up with some of the basic maintenance. We had niggling issues -- doors that would no longer really close and a sofa with a broken leg. He fixed both quickly and effectively and without making us feel stupid and without any drama or fuss. You won't regret calling him. read more

Sid is fantastic. He's my go-to guy for fixing anything. I've always been pleased with him and have hired him many times over the years. His approach is that you pay for his time and not quotes and I think this is very reasonable. With this in mind, I wouldn't hire him to do something you could do yourself with ease, but I do hire him for small jobs I could do with effort (which he would do with ease and high quality, such as putting up drape rods) as well as bigger jobs that are beyond what I could do well or at all (more complex plumbing or electrical). If you think about how much your time is worth and how much he charges and what a great job he does, it's a no brainer to hire him. read more

Sid came to my house to assist with various jobs that my husband and I had procrastinated doing. He was very professional, on time, courteous to me and my children, and a real pleasure to work with. He did all of the jobs without making a mess and his craftsmanship was very good. I would whole-heartedly recommend Sid to anyone needing a handyman. read more

Good thing I had Sid's number when my house was recently broken into. Doors were busted in and needed to be replaced, a door frame was a splintered mess, paint needed to be matched, and my nerves were frazzled. What a relief to have someone trustworthy in the house whose work is top notch. When that job was complete, I asked Sid to help with a little plumbing problem which turned out not to be so little. The toilet turned out to be no match for Sid. Victory. read more

Sid is so wonderful. He's calm, knowledgeable, and does good work. All of those little things in "your old house" that have been on your to do list he can do! Thank goodness I finally found someone like him. He fixed my broken door frame that was in pieces; now the door closes and locks again. I also hadn't been able to remove light fixtures and change light bulbs which he happily did. Wow, actual light in the kitchen is really nice. :) read more

Does good work--prompt & efficient !

Sid is terrific. He takes meticulous care of our repairs, big or small.

Sid is very helpful and friendly. I called him to check if he could caulk the gaps in my walls. He asked me several questions and then told me about two companies who specialize in caulking. He was very honest and told me that he could do the caulking but the companies that specialize would do a better job. It's rare to find someone as honest and helpful as Sid! read more

Sid is wonderful! He did some work for our company when we moved in to our new office space. More specifically, he hung some Ikea kitchen cabinets for us and was thoughtful about it (e.g. he asked me if we would be adding additional cabinets or if he should cut the railing the cabinets hung on so it would look nicer). His measurements were accurate, the cabinets were straight, sturdy (we overload them on a regular basis with no problems) and they look great! He has a great energy about him and I wouldn't use another handyman for our office projects now that I know about Sid. (Plus he remembered to send me a W9 as soon as he got to a computer and that's as good as it gets in the eyes of an office manager). :) read more

Just called to offer a work project to Sid. I live in a newly constructed home Fremont next to the Dumbarton (literally 10 min from downtown Palo Alto). He replied in a rather snooty tone, "Yeah sorry I just don't cross the bridge." I could understand if it was a distance, but it's hard to call a 10 minute drive a long trip. Sid, you are a handyman. Work ethic like yours will ruin our country. read more

Very friendly. Great repair job on my door. Quick work. Reasonably priced.

Amazing! I needed a bunch of random jobs done around my new home at the last minute (hanging mirrors/floating shelves/decor and installing lighting). I called Sid on Monday around 3:15 (so he does work Mondays, at least occasionally), and he was at my place within 15 minutes. He is a perfectionist in the very best way and super thoughtful and careful in his work. He was also just really pleasant to have around the house for a few hours. We will absolutely use him again for any future projects and recommend him most highly. read more

Sid is amazing! I'm the office manager in a large building in Palo Alto and have been using Sid as my "primary care" handyman for a few years. He is extremely knowledgeable, and willing to give you his advice! He has helped me do so many projects at our office, including replacing dozens of lightbulbs in 15ft ceilings, putting together metal cabinetry, replacing high pressure tanks in our toilets and even helped me save tons of money by installing metal conduit to the outside of our building that an electrician quoted me $2000 more than it cost Sid to do it. If I can't do it myself, I know Sid CAN. I have yet to come across a problem that Sid can't help me with! If you want a TRUSTWORTHY and reliable guy who is not going to charge you an arm and a leg, Sid is your guy. To top it off, he is very pleasant to work with. read more

I recently had Sid do some repairs on a rental unit of mine. I live outside the country . Sid is the best handyperson I have ever had help from. He is thoughtful, smart, skilled, gentle, sweet, knowledgeable and expeditious. Way over-educated (a real engineer) for the work he is doing. When Sid fixes things, they stay fixed. He righted a window that would not close -- took the frame off the window, confirmed that the house had settled and un-squared the frame, put in shims to straighten it, re-attached the frame, found the right paint, and repainted the frame. Perfect. Found me the right piano light. Replaced the oven. Fixed the blinking fluttering under-counter lights. Pets and chatters with the cats when he comes. He has done lots more for us too, from fixing cupboard doors to organizing our roof replacement. His hourly charge is not the lowest, but he's unquestionably the most cost-effective. Plumbing? Electricity? Woodworking? general figuring things out? Call Sid. I agree he is a great blessing. Susan read more

I agree with "Amy R" that I almost want something in my house to be broken just so I can hire Sid! I called him to get quotes on a few jobs I wanted done in my new house. But all were a bit too involved/specialized for what he is used to. When I mentioned skylights, he said he doesn't really like to install them but has in the past. He then offered to sell me one that he has left over from a previous job, for a huge discount. I'll definitely keep Sid in mind in case I need something fixed. FYI: He generally just works on a per-hour basis. read more

Sid was referred to us by a neighbor - and we think he's an amazing, versatile, professional handyman. We provided him a list of repairs and work that was very diverse, and he completed plumbing, carpentry, painting, troubleshooting with a high degree of skill and in such good time that we wondered why we had not found him years ago! He has a wonderful list of providers who do specialty work at reasonable rates that he recommends as appropriate. We have used a couple of them and have been quite pleased. We would (and we plan to) hire him again in an instant and recommend him for your projects without reservation. read more

Wow, what a find. He came out and spent 3 hours fixing light switches and fixtures in our very old Palo Alto home and all was done carefully and skillfully. He even had to go up into our attic to work on some of the old wiring. My wife and I can't be more pleased. His fee was VERY reasonable. We will definitely recommend him to friends and neighbors and call him again when we need some work done. read more

Sid came to install the recommended pocket door solution (because, alas, we did not in fact have the time or patience to install it ourselves), and I was equally pleased with his demeanor and care when he came. He helped us find a much lower cost solution to a potentially expensive dilemma (curse you pocket doors) and I am very appreciative! read more
