I was looking for somebody to take out my old mailbox and replace it with a new post and double mailbox. After looking around it seemed like people wanted a lot of money for that task, more than I would have liked to pay. I went on Yelp and requested some quotes and Elmar responded right away and gave me a reasonable quote for the job. I was able to schedule him the following day and he finished the job within three hours. It was so quick and easy to find somebody to do this for me and I'm so grateful for his expertise and help. I will definitely hire him next time we need some extra work around the house. If you're looking for somebody that is skilled and reasonably priced, give him a call. read more

Master X Handyman - Handyman Near Me - Sunnyvale, California

Extremely unprofessional and abusive experience. I created a project through Yelp, and Yelp automatically sent my request to various businesses. I was contacted by someone named Elmar. The call came from a number showing on my caller ID as 408-396-8070. Instead of simply discussing the project, he immediately became hostile and started swearing at me, including saying "F*** this" and "F*** you," before abruptly hanging up. I was completely caught off guard. I had simply submitted a project request through Yelp and had not done anything to warrant this kind of treatment. This was an absolutely unacceptable and highly unprofessional way to treat a potential customer. I will also be filing a complaint with Yelp regarding this interaction so they are aware of how a business responding to Yelp project requests is treating potential customers. **UPDATE: I am providing screenshots to document what actually happened.** In his response to my review, Elmar claims that my account of him calling me and using profanity is "completely false" and that "nothing like this ever happened." That is not true. I am uploading two screenshots that document the sequence of events: 1. **At 3:10 PM**, Elmar responded to my Yelp Project request stating, **"I don't provide that service."** 2. **At 3:12 PM**, just two minutes later, my call history shows that I received a call from **408-396-8070**, which is the business phone number listed on this Yelp business profile. During that 3:12 PM call, Elmar was extremely hostile and directed profanity and abusive language toward me, including **"F*** this" and "F*** you,"** before hanging up. The timing is particularly significant. If Elmar had already responded to my Yelp request at 3:10 PM stating that he did not provide the service, there would have been no apparent reason for him to call me two minutes later unless he wanted to discuss something further. That call did in fact occur, as my call history confirms. Elmar now claims that the call and abusive behavior never happened. The screenshots provide contemporaneous documentation of the Yelp response immediately before the call and the subsequent call from the business number. I am providing this documentation because Elmar chose to publicly accuse me of making false accusations and acting in bad faith. I believe potential customers should have the opportunity to see the documented timeline and make their own judgment. I have also reported this matter to Yelp and will provide Yelp with the same documentation. read more

After dealing with a basement flood and running a fan and dehumidifier extensively I noticed several cracks in a support beam. I got a structural engineer to assess the issue and they recommended sistering a joist to the damaged beam and the engineer noted that a handyman could handle the job. I talked to several and went with Elmar of Master X Handyman. He was very responsive and came out the next day. Just looking at the issue he was suggesting exactly what the engineer recommended. The biggest challenge was figuring out how to move electrical wiring around but quickly figured out how to disconnect the wiring at two junction boxes. He picked up all of the supplies and was done much faster than estimated. My wife and I both needed to work from home, so he was able to start early and only needed the power off for an hour in a time window that wasn't an issue for us. The work was well done and the beam is now supported. He was very responsive and I will hire him again for all future jobs. read more

I hired Elmar for a plumbing, door repair and door weatherproofing specific projects at our place. He responses were timely, provided a reasonable quote and scheduled an appointment for the actual service in a reasonable time frame as well. During his visit, he completed majority of the tasks within the time frame we agreed upon. However, there was one job that required some extra work and materials. He promptly provided the specifics, and explained why it would take longer and gave me a reasonable time frame for completing the remaining door insulation work. For the follow up visit, he promptly purchased the required materials and completed the remaining work. The overall work was of very high quality and I am very satisfied with all the specific details I requested for. I'd definitely recommend Elmar for his professionalism, communication and quality of service provided. read more

I posted the task (mailbox post installation) on a Sunday night and got a response from Elmar within 30 min. Elmar gave a quote me right away and was open to doing the job at 6 pm next day (Monday) which was great for me since I didn't have to stay at home on a working day. He was also upfront that if the old post is set in a concrete surface, the cost would be somewhat higher. While I knew that the surface had pebbles set in concrete, I had no idea how thick the concrete is around the post. He assured me that if the concrete is thin, his quote will not change. On Monday, he confirmed 45 min before arriving that he was on his way and showed up on time. As he started digging, he found that concrete was quite thick (over 12" deep), so it took him an hour to dig the hole around the previous post as I wanted the new post to be installed few inches away from the old post. He confirmed with me the location of the new post and the height I wanted. He got the job done in about 2 hours, showed to me how the post was vertical along 2 axis and at level on the third axis (honestly I didn't care so much since it is just a mailbox but I took his penchant for precision as a sign that he cares about the quality of his work). Great handyman (contractor) overall, I will use his services again when needed. read more

Elmar was great to work with. In one afternoon he replaced a broken light switch, fixed a cabinet door with a broken hinge, fixed two sets of French doors that wouldn't lock (I thought the locks were faulty but he quickly realized the door hinges needed adjustment) and caulked a bathroom drain. He is knowledgeable and the cost was reasonable. Very satisfied with his work. read more
