Have wanted to go to Sid's for years but always opted for something close to home, and living near Mid-Town OKC there are so many options. We called a friend in Yukon and invited him to join us at Sid's. We arrived at Sid's around 5 p.m. and there were no open tables. The venue is small with maybe six four tops and a bar. We were at the bar for mabe 10 minutes when a table opened up. Sid's is a throwback to an earlier era and is the embodiment of the slogan, "Get Your Kicks On Route 66" it's a fun venue! I ordered the orginial onion burger. Jan ordered chicken fried sandwich, and Ken ordered the coney. We chose onion rings as our side. My onion burger was outstanding, a 5/5. Jans's chicken fried sandwich was OK. She gave it a 3.5/5. Ken was very happy with his coney and gave it a 5/5. The onion rings were good. I'd give them a 4/5. This diner has a great Route 66 atmosphere. Really feels like a 60's roadside diner. We stopped for breakfast. We had 3 adults and 3 kids. We were seated quickly. The service was fast. Famous and iconic and let me tell you, well worth the visit. Sid's has been in multiple shows on the Food Network. Been around for 50 years or more. Burgers are fresh and made to order. They are famous for their onion burgers but you won't be disappointed with the chili cheese coney either. They have fresh cut fries and onion rings that are delicious. You might want to get a little froggy and hit them at breakfast. The staff is super friendly. In our continuing quest to find the best breakfast place on our x-country trip, Sid's just might be "the one". Reminiscent of past trips w Unabelly. Sid's is on the smallish side, but packs a big punch. Adam is the short order cook/owner. His grandfather was Sid. My best friend, Orange Slice, and I both ordered Sid's special. Two eggs, hash browns. Choice of meat (we both ordered ham), and toast or pancake. Angelica, our server, was efficient effective, affable. Large portions, the ham tasted sugar-cured, OS's pancake was gone in three forkfuls. Coffer was $1,50 so they lost money on OS. Decor really cool. Very old pics of vets on the wall. FAMILY'S "GO TO" for THEE OKLAHOMA ONION BURGER!!! I mentioned to our family from Mustang, OK if they knew a good place to hit, to wow us with the famous Onion Burger of Oklahoma. I mentioned a few places, however, all my brother in law had to say was, "I gatchu Dave." Spoken confidently with a wink and a smile... well, ain't gonna argue with that lol. So, off we went to El Reno, OK. Not to Oklahoma City mind you, cuz nobody there knows how to do it right in the big city! Nope! El Reno, sight of the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889, is also the spot for THEE best Oklahoma Onion Burger. There's a few grills to choose from in this town, but we planted our butts at Sid's Diner! Street parking is plentiful however the diner itself is TINY and the place is packed already at 10:30am Saturday morning. That whiff of grilled onions when you open that diner door though... INTOXICATING! Gets the rumbly tummy activated! Luckily, there is an annex with big tables, air conditioning and an order screen, which made it very convenient for our party of 8 to sit together. Okay... let's EAT! KING DOUBLE: Now THIS was truly A BIG BOY!!! A whole pound of meat with caramelized onions, undistracted by cheese, lettuce or tomatoes (which you can add, if you so choose). Just a little drizzle of mustard and ketchup. I tell you what... this was a handful, a mouthful, and an absolute pleasure to devour! This grease bomb was so flavorful with the smashed patty charred to perfection and grilled onions galore spilling over. I loved every bite of that monstrosity and I'd do it AGAIN in a heartbeat! CONEY DOG: Compared to the King Double, this was pretty timid. Definitely for smaller appetites. Just a regular sized hot dog waiting for you underneath the chili. Not chintzy with chili though which was very tasty. I did like the relish drizzle on top, it added a nice sweetness to it. FRITO CHILI PIE: I ENJOYED this with my King Double! Comes as Chili smothering a heap of crunchy Fritos and then you add the shredded cheese and diced onions to your liking. Me? I dumped it all in and in hindsight shoulda asked for more cheese, cuz I love me some cheese pull! The crunchy texture of the Fritos complimented the tastiness of the King quite well! Yummers :) TATER TOTS: Perfectly prepared tots! Crunchy outside, yet perfectly flaky within. However when compared to the size of the fries order, this was not Oklahoma Big. Did it spill out before it made it in to the bag??? Guess we'll have to come back to compare lol FRENCH FRIES: One order... Huge! Not crispy like McDonald's but that's okay with me. This had more flavor and can easily be shared between 2 people. It still tasted good as it cooled down too. PEANUT BUTTER SHAKE: I asked for extra peanut butter and I sure got it. It was a flavor explosion with every mouthful! And it was thick enough that the straws provided would collapse if you sucked too hard. The cups for the shake were tall so definitely an ample serving to enjoy the whole meal! VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! Nom Nom Level is HIGH! Came here with my family to try the famous onion burgers, and I was not too too impressed. Yes, it's decent burger but I'm not sure if it is worth driving to El Reno for. The restaurant is definitely cute, has 50's diner vibes and it's Route 66 themed. That being said, it was cramped even at 2pm. What a fantastic place to grab an iconic Onion Burger. I can't believe that I have lived in Oklahoma for 25 years and I am just now finally getting to taste the Original Oklahoma Onion Burger!!! All I can say is don't wait this is a must try place to eat. One thing I did find out is that you can actually make a reservation!! I would definitely do that! Instead as you enter the restaurant you will notice the seating is limited on the inside. There is a covered seating area/pavilion which you can also place your order from! We are provided with a pager to let us know we're next in line. Our wait was probably 5 minutes so not long. While waiting we had an opportunity to review the menu. Our server was Abby and she was great and very easy to talk too! It was easy for me, I chose the 1/2 lb onion burger with everything on it. Onion rings as the side were fantastic. Thick & crispy!! I decided I wanted to try their shakes so I asked if they had a Banana & Cherry which I've never had. A great combo!! My wife chose the Steak & Shake along with fries. Our Thursday after game dinner was amazing. Stopped by Sid's diner in El Reno for some burgers and onion rings. The place was packed but we managed to find 2 seats at the bar. The cook, Marty was on it with about 30 burgers on the grill at once He was slapping those sucker's up in record time. You could here the sizzle of the beef and inuons and the smell wafting in the air. It was a sight to behold. The onion rings are absolutely amazing too. A big basket of crunchy hot goodness. And when those burgers were finally placed in front of us,piping hot--- we just dove in. It was quite the delicious treat. Thestaff is attentive, friendly and fast. We stopped back in since we had a great experience, service & food the 1st time. Hubby had chili. I had hamburger, fries & Pepsi. I was shocked when I received a quart size glass of Pepsi! Ha. But of course, I drank it all. They will refill & or send you with a to go cup! Hubby said chili was good, it is served with shredded cheese and chopped onion. Then out came the huge basket containing 1/2 order of fries, homemade & delicious. I'm not sure where they get their beef but their hamburgers are over the top delicious. Starting off this review with facts that we did try Robert's Diner last year and would have tried Sid's the next day but they were closed for some reason. Here we are today and we were able to make lunch at Sid's!! Great atmosphere and love all of the old pictures on the walls and tables. Service was fast and with such friendliness. We had options to sit outside under the enclosed patio seating area or sit inside which is a tight fit. We found a table inside and sat down fast. They take your order table side. Outside there is an electronic pad on each table to take online orders. It works efficiently. I ordered the classic regular original burger (double patty because I can) it was piping hot & fresh upon arrival. You can order with lettuce & tomato or without, I had it with. Grilled onions were perfect and I got someone's left over mushrooms from the grill and I'm not mad about it. Next time I will order with grilled mushrooms too. My burger did not have enough salt for my taste, my husband said his was too salty which might mean accidentally over salting on his patty and not mine . Fries are ordered to share for 2 or 3 people they are the skinny fries and were most delicious. Overall it was a good experience and I'm happy we stopped to try a Sid's burger. The food was amazing and had AWESOME prices for what we got. We went twice in a day - we went for breakfast and I got the Biscuits and gravy they were outstanding! And I got a side biscuit and they came toasted and buttered - so good! My fiancé had the all meat omolette and the side of home made salsa - amazing! Prices went up way to high! $21 for two cheeseburgers and some fries! I do not think we will be ordering from there again!

We ordered our meal. The waitress asked us if we wanted lettuce and tomatoes on our hamburger? We asked if included? She said, "Yes.". My drink came right away and our fries. We then had to ask for silverware from another waitress as she left none. We then asked for a plate to put half the fries on as they were too hot for my friend to eat as he has very few teeth. The waitress didn't act like she had permission to do this so it took much longer than it should have. Then we waited and waited for our hamburger. I finally figured out she didn't place the order so we re-ordered it. She was oblivious to it--didn't even remember she had asked about cheese, lettuce and tomatoes when we first ordered! Then,, we got our bill. We had been charged the extra for the lettuce and tomato. We notified our waitress and another waitress took it to the manager. We overheard the new waitress lie that we knew there was a charge. The woman cook manager came over and didn't even listen but pointed to the menu. I then stated calmly, we even had to wait on our hamburger. I said, "If you don't want to make it right, we won't ever come back." She got angry and chased us out the door and said that was fine! It was obvious she was uneducated. I will never go back until they have hired a new manager and train their waitresses better! I think they think they don't have any competition! This is an American burger institution, so we had to try it on our way down to OKC (a little out of the way, but not by much). It was pretty empty when we arrived, but the place has an overall cozy vibe and very friendly workers. We ordered the famous fried onion (depression) burger, a cheeseburger for our daughter, a large basket of fries, and a side salad. I think we're perhaps the first people to order a salad there in 50 years because here's what came out: shredded iceberg lettuce (like you would put on a burger), some diced tomatoes, and a ton of shredded cheddar cheese (like you would put on a coney dog). So, yeah, joke's on us! The fries were thin and crispy, but there was zero salt on them and then you kind of had to eat them with the fork because they got so small and nubby towards the bottom. As for the burger, well, we hate to say this but it just wasn't that good. Very bland. We did love the onion component but the bun became pure mush quickly. Honestly, our daughter's plain cheeseburger was better :( We got a couple milkshakes to go, and while we love a thick milkshake, we do also like to have a proper straw for it! So we sat there and had them with spoons. The chocolate one tastes exactly like a Wendy's frosty and the coffee oreo one tasted entirely like oreo (that were pulverized into the shake). Oddly enough, the owner was talking with his meat supplier when I walked in, and I got to pick his brain about the meat. All I can say... (without giving away any secrets.) Just off Route 66, Sid's has earned notoriety from its appearances on many food shows like Man v Food and is featured in George Motz's book Hamburger America. The famous Oklahoma fried onion burger was created in El Reno during the Depression as a need to extend the amount of meat that was expensive and hard to come by. Sid's was not the original fried onion burger but it sure is a great one. Crispy flavorful edges and juicy center. Soft melt in your mouth buns. The service is super Oklahoma friendly.
