It's a surprisingly big facility for a county airport, and busy, at least with people inside on a cold day. No flying when I was there, though a couple of planes were out on the ramp maybe getting ready to fly later. Nice FBO facility, with couches and tables, and plenty of windows. The usual charts and other supplies for sale. Quite a few hangars around. All in all I was impressed. A couple miles out from town, so if you fly in you will need a ride. The memorial is in fair shape, right by the FBO and the gate.

Expect to eat, sleep, and breath aviation for the time you spend here, and you will excel. Fabio was amazing for the ground instruction. It can be hard to sit for 8 hours a day to learn all the required ground knowledge, but Fabio had a way to make those days just fly by and I learned so much from him. The flight instruction was also very well structured in my opinion with at least one flight a day, multiple flights when the schedule permits. Justin and Jaedoo were fantastic flight instructors, and I could tell they cared about my success and progress through the course. I was able to complete the CFI course including the check ride in 11 days, spending most days at the airport for 10-12 hours studying and preparing myself. If you are someone who is willing to full send your CFI training with no stopping, this is the place for you.

As fun as flying is, it's still always nice to fly someplace with a cool destination. Food, plus a museum (again, another listing) make this a great little place. As a general aviation airport, it is well-maintained and easy to fly in and out of. Today we went for another reason. The 75th anniversary of the Doolittle raid is coming up. If you don't know what that is, you should have been paying attention in history class. Go Google it, and if you have longer watch the classic war movie "Thirty Second Over Tokyo." Anyway, there aren't many participants left, so this might be the last gathering they have. They've been doing it for a few years, and each time I visit it is fun. The B-25s gather here over the few days before the anniversary, then fly down to Wright-Patt for a ceremony. The gathering at Grimes isn't quite an airshow, though you will see some flyovers. The planes taxi in and out, and you can inspect them when there's no activity. If you or anyone you know are a plane buff this will make their day, or month, or year. You can buy rides, talk to reenactors and veterans, see the "Flying Christmas Tree" light-testing plane, and walk down to the museum. Sweetie graciously came along and wasn't too bored; Baby K liked it- I was so proud. The rest of the year it is a great small airport. Fly in here if you can, or drive in for some pie and plane-watching.

Greg had a genuine interest in what my plans are and shared invaluable information. Not only did I get a lesson in vehicle engine types and state laws, but also small business ownership information too. After a few visits, test drives, inspections and insurance quotes, I'm ready to wheel and deal, to sign on the dotted line. It was truly the excellent customer service - Greg's professionalism, business knowledge, and referrals that had me convinced I had found my vehicle. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately, depends on how you look at it, timing is everything. Out of nowhere, a little unknown virus puts my business ideas along with a lot of other peoples plans on hold for now. The new model we were interested in was at the Franklin Furnace store, so we took a 2 1/2 hour drive to see it. After negotiating with Jesse Ginn, over the next several days, the sale was agreed upon. Jesse made arrangements for Sam Boyd, from the Franklin Furnace store, to bring the camper up to Bellefontaine. Once there, Sam, Jennifer Castillo (Bellefontaine Store), and Joey Griffin (Russell's Point location), to install the new trailer hitch, detail the new camper, and transfer all of our equipment from the old to the new.
