The easy to find, yet nondescript building, along with a field of randomly parked limousines, shuttle buses, and a school bus, had me knowing I was in the right place. During my first visit with Greg, the owner, I knew I wanted to do business here. There was no high pressure sales pitch or shady business dealings. Greg had a genuine interest in what my plans are and shared invaluable information. Not only did I get a lesson in vehicle engine types and state laws, but also small business ownership information too. After a few visits, test drives, inspections and insurance quotes, I'm ready to wheel and deal, to sign on the dotted line. It was truly the excellent customer service - Greg's professionalism, business knowledge, and referrals that had me convinced I had found my vehicle. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately, depends on how you look at it, timing is everything. It's a surprisingly big facility for a county airport, and busy, at least with people inside on a cold day. No flying when I was there, though a couple of planes were out on the ramp maybe getting ready to fly later. Nice FBO facility, with couches and tables, and plenty of windows. The usual charts and other supplies for sale. Quite a few hangars around. All in all I was impressed. A couple miles out from town, so if you fly in you will need a ride. The memorial is in fair shape, right by the FBO and the gate.

Expect to eat, sleep, and breath aviation for the time you spend here, and you will excel. Fabio was amazing for the ground instruction. It can be hard to sit for 8 hours a day to learn all the required ground knowledge, but Fabio had a way to make those days just fly by and I learned so much from him. The flight instruction was also very well structured in my opinion with at least one flight a day, multiple flights when the schedule permits. Justin and Jaedoo were fantastic flight instructors, and I could tell they cared about my success and progress through the course. I was able to complete the CFI course including the check ride in 11 days, spending most days at the airport for 10-12 hours studying and preparing myself. If you are someone who is willing to full send your CFI training with no stopping, this is the place for you.

Midwest Corporate Air is an ACCELERATED flight program. The teaching moves fast and successful students are highly prepared and focused. The instructors expect you to show up sharp, ready to fly, have studied the materials, assume you will listen to their feedback, and will ask questions when you do not understand. From what I've observed, the successful students are those who are not afraid to advocate for themselves and their needs...it's a busy place, but they're right there for you if and when you need support in your learning and progress. The school has excellent instructors and Evan, the school's operations manager, is right on top things. Should you need anything in your learning, go see him; he listens, is responsive, and wants you to succeed. When Evan says he'll get back to you, it isn't just lip service; he's checking in with the instructional team and helping bring together the best MCA has to offer in order to help you meet your goals. The addition of Evan to MCA since my earlier experiences attending their programs has added a level of responsiveness and point of contact is a huge plus! The instructional staff at MCA is amazing. I worked with two excellent instructors named Jeremy and Kimi. Jeremy is extremely technically adept and led the ground school portion of the CFII training. There isn't a ton of excitement when it comes to learning the ins and outs of such things as GPS and VOR navigational systems, the guts of a Garmin G1000, or how to teach a student to fly a DME arc, but Jeremy found a way. Plus, he's such a nice person that you leave his classes simply wanting to do him proud. Kimi? He's the most committed flight instructor I've ever met, period. The man will come in early, stay late, answer texts at any hour of night, problem-solve your challenges like nobody's business. Direct, to the point, honest, knowledgeable, committed...I've never met a CFI as committed to his student's success as Kimi. Steve and Joti Buchenroth, the owners of MCA, are two of the highest quality people one can meet and are utterly committed to its success. Steve is the most hands-on owner I've ever known and I can't imagine someone more committed to its success. Joti, similarly, is the heartbeat of the school; she's likely the first person you'll speak with on the phone and if you ever run into her when she doesn't have a smile on her face and the warmest greetings, then you've experienced something I certainly never have.
