ALL his flights out go to connections, he has to reschedule all of them due to delays here. It's time to go back to CVG for flights. Best of all they have an A-6E Intruder as the static display. I flew in for a Saturday Breakfast with the EAA chapter. Ended up taking a fellow EAA member for a quick flight and talked for a while, got fuel and took pics for the Intruder. Runways are smooth and the taxiways are smooth as well.

I was just here to see the T-33 parked out front, but as a (lapsed) pilot I was impressed by the…read morefacilities as well. I expected a quiet, small-town airport, but it was bustling. A dozen or more vehicles parked around, people attending to assorted tasks, several planes taking off and landing. And not just trainers beating up the circuit- bigger, more complex GA planes too. The facilities are well-maintained, and in addition to an office and rows of T-hangars there are a couple of bigger buildings. It's a ways out of town, so you'd need a ride if you were actually visiting Sidney, but as busy as it is they might even have a courtesy car. I will keep this in mind the next time I am bopping around in the air.

Linda the manager was so kind to us by lending us her car foe the day and made great coffee! We will be back!

Moved here for the flying when my flying club was closed at WPAFB…read more Great service and friendly staff. The airport can get busy on occasion with training of Flight Surgeons from WPAFB but even with that, they are really good in ground ops. Glad the Club picked this airport even if it can get a little sporty in a crosswind landing.

I'm going to give it a 5 star rating…read more We were diverted here because our flight into Ohare was running low on fuel. I really can't give it a fair rating but based on the fact we landed clean , got gas or fuel :) and took off for Chicago without incident I'll give it a high score. We were the only plane on the airport property lol All good , thanks for the pit stop :)

As fun as flying is, it's still always nice to fly someplace with a cool destination. Food, plus a museum (again, another listing) make this a great little place. As a general aviation airport, it is well-maintained and easy to fly in and out of. Today we went for another reason. The 75th anniversary of the Doolittle raid is coming up. If you don't know what that is, you should have been paying attention in history class. Go Google it, and if you have longer watch the classic war movie "Thirty Second Over Tokyo." Anyway, there aren't many participants left, so this might be the last gathering they have. They've been doing it for a few years, and each time I visit it is fun. The B-25s gather here over the few days before the anniversary, then fly down to Wright-Patt for a ceremony. The gathering at Grimes isn't quite an airshow, though you will see some flyovers. The planes taxi in and out, and you can inspect them when there's no activity. If you or anyone you know are a plane buff this will make their day, or month, or year. You can buy rides, talk to reenactors and veterans, see the "Flying Christmas Tree" light-testing plane, and walk down to the museum. Sweetie graciously came along and wasn't too bored; Baby K liked it- I was so proud. The rest of the year it is a great small airport.
