Took a trip out to the White Rock Lounge to actually see a show. This was my first show here and…read morethe vibe was amazing. I have honestly never heard of these bands because I am not in the metal scene and was most likely the odd one. I did however meet some very cool people and had some amazing conversations. I got a chance to speak to some band members and a chance to purchase some of the Merch. The merchandise was very good quality in my opinion and priced decently for the work put into creating it. The bands Ulkum, Wilbur, and Lungs were incredible. When people who don't understand metal hear the word metal they think a group of people playing very loud then head banging followed by loud screaming and smashing things. All metal is not like that these bands had harmony and played gracefully as well and some of the parts had a romantic melody to them. The bands were very enthusiastic and I learned a lot from some of them and that it was not only metal music that inspired them to play metal. The sound at the white rock lounge was perfect it was not like going to some places where it's so loud that it will rupture your eardrums and the sound technician they had was right on point with making sure things ran smoothly. The metal people are not as unfriendly are people would think and you should not be afraid of them if you take the time to speak to them then you will learn a lot about travel, adventure and music from them. I had an amazing night and the white rock staff was amazing as well as Steve the owner who was all over the place running his business. It's rare these days to have a hands-on owner running around getting his hands dirty and mingling with the people. I plan to check out another show there and try metal karaoke lol. If you have not been here and you live in the area give it a try and come with an open mind. #stpaul #saintpaul #lowertownstpaul #Lowertown #thewhiterocklounge #twrl #yelp #yelpelitesquad #yelpelitesquad #metalmusic #ülküm #lungs #metal #wilbur #heavymetalmusic

The inside of the bar is pretty small and felt a bit cramped, especially with how busy it was on a Sunday. They do have a back patio that is fairly large, which I appreciated, but during the day it did not feel very inviting. Without lighting or much going on, it came off a bit plain. As for drinks, I tried a non alcoholic half and half with lemonade and iced tea, which I actually really liked. I also had a mojito style cocktail that was not my favorite and tasted a bit too strong for me. The overall vibe just was not really my thing, but I could see it being more fun at night or with a bigger group.

Both were delicious. I like dark beers and these two didn't make me feel fatigue or heavy / bloated. The vibe is a little grunge, a little beer hally, and a little rock all combined into one. They have a ton of live music throughout the month although my trip, which was 530pm on a Tuesday didn't include any. They have a garden / smoking section out back with 3-4 picnic benches that felt really huge. I could definitely come back and would even consider a show here. Reason why I knock it down from 3 stars to 2 is because when we walked in, one of the managers gave us such a dirty look. And when we said hi, he gave a half hearted smile and turned back to doing his audits. Sure, everyone has a bad day. And perhaps he was reacting to something different. Nevertheless, I was ready to get my drink and be out. Was hungry and wanted food but decided rather spend my money elsewhere.

The wait at the table was longer than we anticipated but luckily for us, there were some bar seats available. The bartender at the moment was Cameron. He gave us the rundown on the food and drinks and made several recommendations. We started off the evening with the Don Corlone. It was very tasty and also an Andorran Martini. Both drinks were delightful and were semi-sweet but not too sweet. The mixture of the Don Corlione had a perfect blend of citrus and sweetness. We then ordered the pastry puff poppers and they were amazing. The sauce complemented the pastry puffs and the filling left you wanting more. To finish the night we ordered tiramisu, cheesecake, and some bubbles. Thank you Cameron for the amazing service and experience we hope to be back again soon.
