    Elyria Fence

It's been one year since having our fence installed. Overall, we love having a fence…read more We really wanted a certain aesthetic, and Elyria Fence seemed to be one of the only places that offered it. I've always heard great things about this company too. And anytime we drove around a neighborhood and saw a fence we liked, it was always an Elyria Fence! So we felt pretty good when hiring them. We have never had a fence installed before, so perhaps our experience was very typical. I am unsure. But communicating with this company was very difficult. We couldn't get people to call us back. We had to work really hard to give them thousands of dollars haha. Then they came with almost no notice at all! Luckily we were home! They were very quick to do the installation after that. I was really surprised! The overall fence looks really nice and it was the look I was going for, but the details are sloppy. After the crew left, the yard was completely trashed. So we had to spend time leveling the ground and picking up random pieces of material. There were giant gaps where the fence started on each side where a small dog would easily get out, which was one of the reasons for the fence in the first place! (You can see in the two pictures the big gaps and the pieces they used to try and patch it to make the gaps smaller) The one piece by the tree is a complete eye sore. Im not sure how they could have done it better, but it looks Jimmy rigged and crooked. (See the pictures of the inside by the tree and the one from the other side where the bottom beam no in line with the rest) The type of wood seems cheap, at least for the poles, because it already splitting pretty badly, there are chunks missing, and it's very ruff in a lot of areas (See the HUGE CHUNK that's missing from one of the posts as an example) We also weren't told any information for proper fence care. We had later learned from out of research about having to wait a while before staining it. We're still in the process of doing that! (You can see in the one picture the weathering after one year without the stain compared to the section we've already stained. ) We tried calling a few times, but couldn't get a response. And the one we did get said they'd call us back with information but they never did. Overall, I can't say I recommend this company, but again, we don't have any reference point on a fence company either so it's hard to compare. But like I said, we really enjoy having a fence and this style was exactly what we were looking for. I'm not completely unsatisfied, I mean I still have three stars! It's just, we spent over $10,000 on our fence and the overall experience did not feel like we got what we paid for. (But apparently everything was absolutely flawless, according to the reply on Google from the company so I guess I'm just crazy? lol way to gaslight ) I feel like the defensive, condescending responses to their customers on Google are all you need to know before booking with this company. I regret supporting such a horrible human being if that's the way customers are treated! Shame on them! I feel almost dirty for giving my money to a person who responds in such a way! However, the workers who were at my house were very sweet, I hope they get treated better than the customers do. (PS They can't find me as a customer and have "no idea who I am" because my husband is the one who paid / made the arrangements. lol )

Then one of the hinges broke 6 months after the install. This should be a simple replacement and is covered under their "warranty" they told me about. Unfortunately, after 9 months and dozens of phone calls and email to them they have yet to replace the hinge. There was more BS about trying to get the part from manufacturer. Unless you like frustration, I'd look elsewhere for your fence install.

I started by looking for quotes to have my backyard fenced in last year, as i was looking to apply for a grant to assist with the cost. They met my dad at my home and got started on the estimate. My dad was explaining the need and what we were expecting. We wanted a safe place for my son to be able to be outside and for us to enjoy it without having to feel like we were on guard having to chase him if he decided to run to the front into the road. My dad called me after the estimate and told me how impressed he was with them, and how Brad was very professional , yet personable. We did not get the grant we applied for, and unfortunately my father passed away unexpectedly. The need for the fence was still needed. I decided to call them. Brad remembered who my dad was , and our story immediately. As soon as i got the money for the deposit, the ball was rolling. it wasnt long before our backyard was fenced in and LOOKS GREAT! i can not thank them enough for the speedy job!! CANT WAIT TO ENJOY OUR BACKYARD THIS SUMMER!!! thank you crest fence!!! Anna H

I wish I could give them zero stars. This is going to long so get some coffee or tea and have a…read moreseat. We contacted NRC to have a fence built for our back yard. We live in a new development and all of our neighbors were using them so we figured we would too. The fences looked great. I called them and setup an appointment for the sales guy to come out. Let me add this was last year (2020). The sales guy comes over to discuss what we want. We decided on a vinyl fence line pretty much everyone else. Easy to clean. He took the measurements and I gave him the required half payment down via my credit card. Don't worry, it's, not going down THAT road. About 3 weeks passed and I hadn't heard anything and the payment hadn't been taken. The sales guy told me that I would get a call to schedule an appointment for them to come out. He said the vinyl fence was good because wood fences were in back order but vinyl wasn't. So I called and talked to a lady and she said "Oh, we accidentally shredded your credit card info. We need to send the sales guy back out". I'm like can you just take it and she said no. So a few days later, the sales guy comes back and gets my card number again. Let me pause here and say that this should have been my first and only sign there were going to be problems. I should just said forget it and went with another company. I digress. They take the payment but instead of taking the half, they took the whole payment! I called and they said oh we see let us reverse it and just take half. If anyone has a bank account, you know how banks work so I had two pending charges for about $4500 - the whole price of the fence and a half. Of course the whole price feel off in a few days. Great, I'm now waiting on a call to schedule. Another week goes by and nothing. I call them and was told they were backed up and they would call me when they could do it. Fast forward two months. I get a call one morning saying they are on their way to put in the fence. I was at working from home thank goodness (pandemic and all) so I said ok. They came and put the fence up easy peasy. Since my two of my neighbors already had fences, they only had to put up one side, a gate and close off the other side. It looked great. Let's fast forward to April of this year (2021). We had two back-to-back wind storms. When I say wind storms, I mean 65-70 mph winds. On the second day of the storm, our gate broke on the fence. The fence has a lifetime warranty. I called NRC and let them know the gate broke. They had me send pictures of the gate. I did that. The gate flew off. Heard nothing after that. I called them two weeks later and was told I would get a phone call about it. Two more weeks nothing so I called again. The lady sounded annoyed and said I'll ha e them call you. This went on for a few more weeks. Then I get a call and they say they are coming to replace the fence. Sweet! No one showed up. The next day, they came around 4:30pm. While trying to replace the gate, they found out they brought the wrong gate (huge shocker). They said they would go back to the shop and see if they have the right gate and call me even if they didn't. They took my broken gate with them. No calls (another shocker ). We have been calling them ever since! My husband called at the end May and gave them an earful. We got a call in June saying the gate was ordered and we would get a call when it was in. It's August and no gate meanwhile, we have had three other neighbors get fences put in that look just like ours all from NRC with their signs in the yards. I'm going to say this (and I don't use my race for things) but my husband wonders if it's because we are Black. Our neighbors are not. I don't know what else to think. We even told them at one point, we would pay for the gate ($500) instead of warranty if that would speed up the process. She said it would but it didn't. We aren't paying for gate now. We put our house on the market and needed the gate fixed. We ultimately took our house off the market but still need a gate. I don't know what to do at this point but I wanted to share my experience in hopes it helps someone thinking of choosing them for a fence or deck. Posted are pictures of the gate before they took it.
