They asked if there were any birthdays when we made the reservation and wanted to know who they write everyone's birthday congratulations on the sidewalk in chalk. Cute idea. There were a lot of us birthday girls there. There was a table next to us where a large 8 was displayed. I didn't tell her I was way into the double digits. The meal was great I had a seafood salad and we had a bit of ice cream for dessert. Service was good they kept checking in on us. I'm writing because Side Door has been our absolute go-to for celebrations. We visited this past Sunday for an early dinner, and while the service and drinks were as wonderful as ever, the meal was a bit of a letdown for the first time. I was surprised by the change to the Caesar Salad--the addition of pesto dressing made it feel like a different dish entirely, and I really missed the classic version. Additionally, my Hanger Steak was unfortunately too tough to eat, and while my sister enjoyed the flavor of the Scallops special, the portions were quite small and inconsistent in size for the price point. We love the drinks, desserts and atmosphere, but maybe we will consider going back for happy hour instead of dinner. read more

Gabby was our server. Gracious kind, warm and friendly! The food was outstanding. We had the halibut crusted Parmesan, and a Caesar salad, and the peanut butter ganache pie. Easily the best restaurant on the Oregon coast. Great atmosphere that is intriguing serving food and cocktails that are delicious. Our favorites are vegetable risotto (served in an acorn squash), shrimp Louie salad, tuna melt. But honestly, everything we have tried is amazing! What an amazing experience! I would describe this place as rustically elegant. An old brick foundry with tall open wood ceilings and mismatched furniture including old church pews. You could feel comfortable here in formal clothes or t-shirt and shorts. The menu leaned towards seafood. My date had pan fried Willapa Bay oysters with a Chipotle dipping sauce and an excellent coleslaw. I had charbroiled salmon served on top of sweet potato hash and brocolini and topped with caramelized onions. Delightful! The service was attentive, but not intrusive. This place was amazing and we cannot wait to come back. All of the food we ordered was amazing (steamer clams, crab cakes, burger with bacon jam, and seafood chowder). Mike was who helped us and he was so kind and went above and beyond for our entire meal. The entire staff was warm and welcoming to us and our 4 kids. The seafood bouillabaisse was outstanding!! I wanted to lick the bowl, but decided I shouldn't. It would've been nice to have bread or a roll to sop up the deliciousness, but the waiter never brought it after I asked. We drove from Creswell to eat here if that tells you anything. From the appetizers to the dessert this place holds the distinction of being our favorite. Everything we have gotten here has been amazing. The food, the cocktails, the salads the entree, the dessert and right down to the coffee. Their coffee is by far the best I have ever had. I went here for my birthday dinner, and overall the experience was average. The food and service were fine but nothing memorable. The best part of the evening was seeing my name written in sidewalk chalk when we arrived--that was such a fun touch, and I really appreciated it. I guess because of that, I expected the celebration to carry through, but inside there wasn't any acknowledgment of my birthday. I'm typing this out as i've only been met with appetizers and i'm and very impressed. What can I say, the fresh baguette and buratta salad was very good. I must include that i had a marion berry lemonade and many mocktail options, coming from a newly sober twenty year old seeing those options was quite refreshing. I tried the shrimp quesadilla which is about $20 i believe it was very good, And they also have great customer service and management. My mom's plate of halibut was over cooked and they gave us one complimentary desert. Overall such a beautiful interior and very charming vibe inside. We were a party of 7 and this place has always been a favorite. However our server Gabby was very indifferent and really didn't seem to care that we were there. She did not take care of us. When we received our bill there was a 24% service charge added to the bill. Now I knew why. She didn't have to care. She was going to make $90 no matter what. I went up to talk to a manager and she followed right behind. I was told they were not available to talk to me and Gabby said there was no option in paying the fee. Not wanting to cause a scene I paid it. But it ruined our evening. And a gratuity should be optional. I would recommend not dining here. I live in the area and can tell you that there are many other places that will treat you as well and not force a mandatory 24% charge on you! read more

We dined at The Side Door Cafe recently. After dining there once before we were so excited to finally get back. The salad with fresh Marion-berry dressing was so delicious, with Gorgonzola cheese and hazelnuts. Our steak was cooked perfectly, so tender and flavorful. All of that was great. This is why we'll never go back. From the moment we walked in it was tense. The young man who seated us completely cut me off when I tried to ask for a table by the window. I realize I could have asked when making the reservation, but I didn't think to ask then. He didn't even let me finish my request. He completely shushed me. Very rude. Our waitress was even worse. Could not have been more cold. Seriously. She favored other tables making sure she took care of them first before us. With the prices they charge could they least get hire staff that can pretend to care. read more

Found this cute little cafe while staying in Lincoln city. My MIL called ahead for reservations. After being seated with our little ones, I was a little worried we might be out of place for how fancy this place seemed. The waiter was very nice and cheerful, made me feel right at home. I ordered the seafood pasta. I got my daughters the butter noodles to share. Our waiter was nice enough to bring extra plates for them to share. I really enjoyed the pasta with pesto sauce. Surprisingly it paired really well with the crab and scallops, which were both perfectly cooked. The shrimp and clams I knew would be great with the sauce as well. My daughter wanted more sauce on her noodles as they were really dry. Maybe some oil or more butter would have helped. The pineapple that came as a side was canned and my youngest is spoiled with fresh pineapple every week that she didn't want any of it. For dessert my MIL and I shared the blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I was floored by how amazing it was. Perfect amount of salt in the granola, the fruit a bit sour, but the ice cream complimented with its sweetness. We got the lemon curd cheesecake to go and that was amazing as well. For the prices my dish was worth it. Not sure I would have had the oysters my MIL got again. The dessert at $10 each was great. I saw a lot of other great dishes on Yelp I may have to try if I am ever in the area again. read more

We discovered The Side Door Café late last year and it is by far our favorite restaurant in the vicinity of Lincoln City. The menu is pricey but the food is well worth it. The Caesar Salad is delightfully surprising with added fresh basil and you are sure to enjoy your entree with creative choices like Wild Mushroom Ravioli or their Halibut. The atmosphere is great and the wait staff amazing! I would recommend getting a reservation here the next time you are looking for something very special! read more

The place is located in a former brick factory and has been used for other purposes for years. The ceilings are high and a lot of art. The lemon curd cheesecake was lovely. I really love this restaurant that seems to do everything well - food, service, charming eclectic beach ambiance! And they take reservations!! Every time we come - we get the Vegetable Risotto baked inside an acorn squash half on a plate of delicious red sauce. Last night we got the Burrata salad appetizer and it was surprisingly great (unexpected for me) that came with luscious, soft garlic toast bread, heirloom tomato wedges and leafy lettuce w/pine nuts. Deserts are terrific too. We don't drink alcohol - but I am sure they have a wonderful bar. One of us had the rib eye - and said it was terrific. The service was warm and efficient - and sometimes downright perfection in terms of their ability to read my mind and anticipate my needs before I asked. The bill came to under $150 ... 4 entrees (one was rib eye), 3 deserts, one yummy appetizer, one Caesar salad and two coffees. Parking is plentiful surrounding the building. There's really not much to add to the great reviews that have come before. We met up with local friends who introduced us to Ben, a terrific sever. Everyone had the specials and loved them. We took the key lime pie and lemon curd cheesecake back to the house to continue the party. I really loved the ladies' room, which provides chalk and lets guests write messages on the board. All were uplifting and true. It's always a nice treat to find such great spots along a road trip route that make their communities stronger.
