I have been coming regularly to Uxbridge for work in the last few months and I always planned to…read moretry some Indian food, as UK is real mecca for Indian cuisine on this continent. I left a choice of cuisine for the evening with my colleague, and I settled on choosing the best place to go. This place had some good reviews on some other websites, so we decided to try it. The restaurant is quite nice, light and has some cool water bubble decorations with light going on. We started with some poppadoms, garlic naan bread. All of those came with some sauces, that were really nice - especially lime pickle. Afterwards it was time for our mains - lamb madras for my colleague and Tawa lamb - local specialty. Medium spiced dish with herbs and lamb. The food was very tasty and well spiced, but just enough. Service was extremely attentive and waiter checked a few times, if his recommendation of Tawa dish was a good match. After getting our bill he offered a glass of some liquor, which was a nice ending to our meal. If you are ever lost on the way to London and find yourself in Uxbridge then it is definitely a very nice place for some Indian food (I am not an Indian food expert thought).

As far as your local Indian restaurant goes, Javitri feels nice and modern. The restaurant has a…read morelovely relaxed atmosphere and although we visited on a Tuesday evening, I have no doubt it would have the same vibe on a Friday or Saturday. The staff are really attentive and the food felt like it came out promptly (hard to tell though when you start eating those papadums and can't stop until the mains arrive!) I ordered a chicken korma with rice and a saag paneer. This was the first time I tried a saag paneer and I was not disappointed; creamy cheese with spiced spinach was beautiful with my korma sauce. The main reason I have given 3 starts is because the chicken was very dry. I could only eat 2 or 3 pieces, and so did other people in the group I was with. Since I have eaten in restaurants and takeaways with such good moist chicken in a korma or other curry, this was a bit disappointing. There was a large group of 9 of us and the staff accommodated us really well as we weren't sure how many of us would turn up from the onset. They also had lovely little extras like hot towels, mint chocolate with the bill, and our bill came to £15 each including a tip. I will visit again and hopefully can improve my rating for the chicken!

The Vintage Restaurant is a plush looking, well presented establishment in the heart of Harrow, in…read moreNorth West London. With polite and attentive staff and a good bar, Vintage offers something that comes close to a cross between typical London curry house Indian food and hints of a homely flavour, treatment of spices and cooking style. If you've been yearning a classic butter chicken curry with pilau rice then Vintage will not disappoint and you'll also be served well with all the usual anglo-Indian curries such as chicken tikka masala. What does stand out in the Vintage restaurant is that their sauces and spice mixes are rather compellingly varied in taste, texture and aroma. This perhaps could be attributed to the fact that the Vintage is not a Bangladeshi run establishment and therefore their chefs' cooking style is distinctly regional to the part of India from whence he or she came. As a result, the Indian style breads available on the menu are made in a notably pleasing style where their size, softness and texture differs greatly to the more typical Bangladeshi/Indian curry house. Their naan breads are particularly good and lovely and fluffy to the touch. Another one of my favourites here is their vegetarian and chicken biryani which both come in hearty portions and again have a pleasing north Indian touch to their flavouring. Regular curry house goers will instantly notice this distinctiveness in flavour and aroma in the biryani's served here and I dare say that they would all give the thumbs up. The menu presents the customer with a good and wide selection of veg and non-veg food and wine list, though limited, is in fact quite good and prices for both food and drinks are in the lower to mid-range. This restaurant is frequented by a fair mix of Indian and non-Indian customers and the tone and style of the restaurant appeals to both large families, friends and couples out for a good night as well as the lone diner who's just passing by. For the simple fact the Vinage Restaurant's menu offers a different and distinctly north Indian taste, at a reasonable price, I can highly recommend this restaurant to those who might venture up to North West London.

I ate here just before Christmas. The food was superb, individually cooked (not in ready prepared…read moresauces) and not at all like the food in most High Street Indian Restaurants. We had the most delicious chicken jalfrezi. The staff are also lovely.
