Last year, they have more than 800 million revenues investment income. I used to donated and fundraised personally because I have two kids I also wanted to do something for kids who's suffering. Luckily my two kids are healthy. I hardly ever go to hospital. However , My little daughter stepped on some sharp splinter two days ago. She didn't even let us touch, She refuse to walk I feel sorry for her so I took her to Sickkids Emergency. The fact is I have registered my daughter 10:00 pm I finally met the doctor 3:45 am but she told me She needs to discuss with her staff and left the room didn't come back. We were waiting another 30 mins My daughter said finally mommy ,I want to go home. So we left about 4:30 am. I came home 5 am without getting work done. I couldn't go to work either dad . I know there's more important kids who's close to life and death. But all the kids are important and they come to emergency with their own urgency. I saw less than a year boy was crying whole night at the waiting room, Angry frustrated parents looking for disappeared doctor. A lot of people say it's a beautiful building, kids friendly best service , but if you were waiting more than 7 hours to see the doctor with your suffering child ( not very important patient for them) I felt the building looks unnecessary fancy, staffs looks apathetic. An additional fact . Waiting room doesn't look any better than IKEA They should have better children's playroom for enduring more than 7 hours waiting . Left side washroom door was broken. I know there are must some great positive fact existing which make a lot Canadian proud But based on what I felt what I saw , I would never go back again, I would never donate myself and ask anyone raising money for this hospital. They will only care when your kids almost died . And I know they wouldn't care my voice anyways. read more

I went to visit a patient in the oncology unit and I was quite impressed with Sick Kids Hospital. The facility is beautiful; there are a lot of windows, which makes the space very bright. There are also a lot of food and beverage options on the first floor. I did a quick walkabout and found eateries for any palette. Close to the elevator, I saw a bulletin board with postings of a lot of activities going on in the hospital for both patients and their families. SKH provides a great support system for all stakeholders, which is great as I'm sure it's not the best experience for anyone to be here. Lastly, I noticed how dynamic the staff here were. They were all very upbeat, energetic, and positive; characteristics that are essential when working with children and their families. I'm not a child nor do I have children so I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I think this place is definitely a five-star. Good for: healthcare read more

I would like to thank each and every staff member of SickKids as their service is excellent in taking care of babies. My son has been admitted@sickkids after few hours of his birth with critical condition and every staff member took care of him very well. After couple of surgeries and 2 months of service provided by them, my son got discharged from hospital with all good health. I was pretty sick when I was a teenager, so I've experienced my fair share of hospitals and let me tell you, Sick Kids is THE BEST hospital out there.. Too bad it's limited to kids. The hospital itself is designed in a way that it's super bright. If you walk in through the new portion, the whole lobby/elevator area is a big open concept. You can look up and see all the different floors, and likewise, if you are in the ward, you can look down and see the lobby area. The front area also has a cafeteria and a large sitting area. Again very open, and modern. If you go West through the older portion of the building, it gets more "hospital-like". Luckily that portion of it is all hospital office area and such. The patient room area are all in the pretty section. The staff at the hospital are all top notch. To look after sick kids day in and day out is probably one of the hardest jobs out there, but they all do it with a smile on their faces. I can't say enough about this hospital, it's most definitely saved my life, so it can do no wrong! read more

Such a wonderful hospital, I remember coming her quite often as a kid whether it was for myself or for my brothers. It truly is kid friendly, from the various toy/playrooms they have, Video games available to play, and even something as cool as their elevators which seemed like an awesome roller coaster ride to me when i was younger. They also have a wonderful area to eat food. It has stands for your typical fast food places such as subway, pizza pizza and teryaki, but also has a unique eatery which sells everything from soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffee and much more. I also love the seating area to eat, as it's surrounded by windows, so there's plenty of natural sunlight. It makes for a great area to visit and get some homework done......I've done that a countless number of times. And the fact that they offer free Wi-Fi makes it that much more appealing!! read more

For Pediatric patients, this is as good as it gets. Such a happy place with clowns, dogs, music therapy. The kids and employees are always happy, even in the worst of circumstances. This is the pediatric centre that everyone in Ontario and beyond uses for information, calls when they don't know what to do, refers patients for anything and everything. For a hospital that claims to provide the 'very best service' for sick kids the hospital FAILED us to the full extent. We had a requisition for a fetus MRI of the brain that was very time sensitive per our doctor and accordingly we were referred/sent to Sick Kids. Here's the various checkpoints where the administration of this hospital completely and utterly FAILED us. 1. We had to chase down the hospital for the confirmation of our appointment as they never reached out to us for days past the time we were told we would be contacted. 2. We showed up to the hospital 45 minutes early to ensure we are on time and ready. Upon arrival we were tossed around to 6 different offices/labs within the hospital BY THE HOSPITAL STAFF before they were able to figure out who is doing the MRI at which point we were now 15 minutes late as we had to search this hospital for an entire hour. 3. It took 25 minutes for the receptionist that had already seen us standing at the counter to acknowledge our presence and give us the necessary forms to fill which she FAILED as she provided us with the incorrect forms and so we had to redo the process from scratch. 4. Post the MRI we were advised the results would be sent to our doctor within 3-5 business days. On day 8 and after 10 UNANSWERED voicemails with relevant staff or departments (from business day 6 and 7) we were finally able to get a hold of someone at this hospital. 5. The staff informed us (Claimed) that the results had been sent back to our doctor after a single business day only for her to retract and swallow her word and say "Actually they're still here as we didn't have your doctor's contact info" .. Now we're not sure how they could not have this info when every requisition form sent out has the Doctor's office info attached to it .. or why anyone at this hospital could've taken many different steps to rectify this between business day 1 to 8 where our results were simply sitting on someone's desk. 6. The staff noted above refused to take the doctor's info and requested WE contact our doctor so they can then contact Sick Kids and provide their info AGAIN .. talk about Bureaucracy .. Big banners hanging in the hospital say how they've collected over 600 million dollars and yet it seems they don't have a dime worth of an idea as to how this delicate business needs to be administered.... read more

Worst hospital ever ! My daughter was admitted on april 1 and diagnosed after 2 & half months later ( 3 days before she died ).. however the nurses were amazing and hardworking and very kind ! There was one nurse I didn't like her name was Martha.. she just thought my baby was so hard and a pain in the ass .. she had an absolutely rude behaviour and wouldn't give full reports . My baby was only 2 and a half month old .. there was a cure to her disease but it was too late .. I hate this hospital because the doctors and reports take toooo long for everything .. they've messed up sending some blood work out of the country and they had to redo it .. if the results came back earlier maybe she would've survived .. read more

I see a lot of great reviews however I was not lucky enough to have a good experience when I took my 1 year old in to emergency with a fever. We had already medicated her twice to no success and waited a respectable 12 hours before going in. While the initial reception was friendly enough, the rest of the staff seemed short tempered and not very helpful at all. They do not give out wait times, although our child's wait time was pre-determined as they dosed her with tylenol and usually they make you wait a couple hours. But they couldn't tell us that, we figured it out afterwards. The doctor's attitude was awful. My baby girl picked up on it right away. Totally uncomfortable with her, instant crying fit. The doctor treated us like we should have medical degrees. I mean that we should know everything there is about medicating our infant daughter. She actually inferred that we shouldnt have gone into the hospital, right before changing her medication... How are we supposed to know to change her medication if we aren't doctors? Rediculous. I'm not going to rely on a random internet article to treat my kids. Maybe it was a bad day, but a hospital with this reputation, having more then a few irate nurses in emergency, and a doctor with an attitude to boot, is a disgrace. I won't take my daughter to their emergency again. read more

Had ten sugary here spent a three years of my life nothing but great care. The staff are amazing they will go out of there way for you.

Excellent architecture, shoppers, star bucks, tim hortons within the building. They have play area for kids and there are volunteers to help out as well. I like the pictures kept in the long hallway..As Kat said, Clowns & dogs come to the rooms and entertain the kids. But i heard that emergency rooms are pretty busy and hectic...I have seen nurses work around the clock and still very friendly when asked for help. I wish no babies and teens should get sick. read more

My wife and I came to sick kids with our one month old due to a slight fever and cough. This was our third visit to sick kids and I must say all three times we were very impressed on all levels. The staff, nurses and doctors are super friendly and simply amazing. No long waits and they literally come check up on you ever few seconds. This service is by far the best we have received any any other hospital. read more

I had horrible experience with this hospital. I was in the waiting room for an hour, and my daughter's name was called, so I followed with a nurse to the end of a set of doctor's rooms. After one hour, no doctor. So I went to the nurse station to ask, but was told they decided the priority level, and my kid is not the priority. OK, I can wait, but it seems odd. the worst thing is: after I asked twice, finally the doctor came, and she said:"I called you one hour ago in the room close to receptionist, how come the nurse put you here?" ...... yes, how come? obviously, they put us in the room and forgot. If I did not go to the nurse station twice, asked and asked again, we were forgotten. Who is gonna give me the apology for this one and half hour waiting? especially holding a 10 months old sick kid who was very fuzzy and sick? horrible! read more

Our trip to the emergency room was thankfully quick. The pediatrician was kind and thorough and extremely helpful. Triage nurse was efficient and very professional. Would not hesitate to bring my children in again. read more
