Hi and Good Day to staff: I am writing a review of this hospital since I have been very rarely in the last 10 years. I had to get treatment yesterday and, the staff were polite and, it has not changed much since Covid-19 and, it has not changed much. I was there for more than 6 hours and, I had to speak to a doctor after almost 6 hours-I had not been there for treatment very sparingly over 10 years. I know of a staff member who has been employed more than 15 years. I am impressed by the staff and, their kindness and, I left feeling a lot different and, I told the doctor that I was not sick. In 2022, met an arrogant and prejudiced social worker at ER. She has worldview of a middle-class white neurotypical person and thinks everyone in the world lives and thinks in the same way as she does. I was dismissed [after queuing in the ER for 8 hours] and did not receive adequate treatment. Got sent to Dissociative Disorders and Trauma psych ward unit in 2023 when studying in the U.S. due to worsened self-harm behaviors. I am sincerely and unironically grateful for Sunnybrook hospital for adding on to my traumatic experiences such that I finally got the medication and support that I needed in the psych ward in U.S. My mental health condition has since been relatively stabilized, and I am feeling a lot better and living a lot better. read more

It depends on the department. When my dad ended up in Palliative Care the doctor in charge didnt think he was dying fast enough and kept trying to get us to consider home care. Thankfully a Specialist said he could stay until he died, which he estimated to be about three months, in 45 days he had passed. MY father knew what was coming so he wanted to be left alone. Woke social workers and non medical staff were constantly asking if he wanted to go to art classes or sing a longs. We finally had to shut them down after it got ridiculous. read more

THE SUNNYBROOK HACK. Surgeons? - the best. Nurses and PSW'S? - the best. Supporting medical staff - all professional and at the top of the their game. Here is where the hospital failed and its a helpful TIP for anyone going back for a follow up appointment. I had an 8:30 appointment and waited 3.5 hours to see doctor. Two people when in before me - an 8:50am and a 10am. When I asked admin they told me that they checked in before you. So your appointment time doesn't matter as much as your check in time. Get there early for your appointments (Fracture Clinic) and you will get in early to see the doctor - you are welcome : ) read more

Yesterday my mom went for her second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine but that clinic did not have the same vaccine that she got for her first dose. The staff there told her to come to Sunnybrook instead. We tried to book an appointment online but a message said to try again in the future. However, I saw that Sunnybrook is holding a walk-in vaccine clinic July 19-22, 2021. On the website it says the walk-in clinic begins at 9 am so we arrived early unsure how many other people would have come as well. To my surprise there wasn't really a line to go into the clinic. A staff member asked people a few questions and then they went right in. Instructions on the website said to park in Parking Garage 1 (PG-1) on the underground lowest level: Level 3A East. It was nice that parking was free if going to the Covid-19 vaccine clinic. Just bring your parking receipt to the vaccine clinic to have it validated. I saw a drop off zone at Building K, which is right across from Building E for the clinic. The campus is also accessible by TTC as the bus goes through the campus. read more

Years go by and you don't need medical care --- but when you do, count your lucky stars for this outstanding Toronto hospital. Cutting edge (excuse the pun), a teaching hospital with the best brains and hands in the world here for us. I had major neck (cervical spine) compression and needed surgery. Spine surgery is intricate business and I was petrified. My surgeon gave me back my life and potentially saved me from a disability. I am so grateful to this hospital. The entire staff from porters to janitors to intake staff to nurses aides to nurses, doctors and surgeons. GRATEFUL. read more

I thought I would be as honest and transparent as possible in my review of a specific doctor/psychiatrist at this hospital. His name is Ralph Lewis. Since the age of 13 I had been seeing this psychiatrist and from the get go his over prescription and over abundant willingness to hand out drug after drug after drug became very apparent. I was young and naive and didn't realize the potential dangers of ingesting so many psychiatric drugs almost solely for the reason of depression. Today I realize I never needed any of them. I felt like his experiment. He never once spoke to me about the dangers and risks of taking so many of these drugs, and how they could have permanent damaging implications on the body upon cessation. This practice is all too common in psychiatry and it's a shame that we can't call these people out for it. He has destroyed my life and left my family in ruins and tatters as I battle the damage left behind from years of his malpractice. read more

I'm very fortunate to live down the street from Sunnybrook (when house/condo hunting, definitely consider a place close to the hospital). I'm under 30 so I haven't experienced all that Sunnybrook offers, but I am very impressed. Family Practice Clinic - The staff here are amazing ! My doctor is very thorough and never leaves anything to chance. She is always available and even comes in on her days off. The nursing staff here are great as well ! They genuinely care for all the patients of this clinic. The Reception Team are very friendly, efficient, and organized. They knew that I needed a physical before me. Since it is a teaching hospital, you will have residents with you - having a few set of eyes is better when it comes to your health. Specialists (Neurosurgery, Dermatology, Gastroentrology, Oncology) - Waiting times to see these specialists are not too long; their staff are very understanding of your concerns and help to speed up the waiting time. I have gone to the Odette Centre a number of times; I was very happy with the medical care. The most recent medical service I received was surgery. Being that it was my first time, I was very nervous. The nursing staff helped me to relax and not worry too much. I stayed overnight and they came in to check on me often - I was in good hands. I volunteered here throughout high school; considering doing it again. Sunnybrook is definitely a 5 +++++ star hospital. read more

I had a nephrectomy on April 2020, right smack in the middle of the Covid-19 storm, and was pleasantly surprised at how well taken care of I was at Sunnybrook. My surgeon, Dr Robert Nam, is a genius, and his team is excellent - I am really glad to have them on my side. I was put in a semi private room - the room and washrooms were always kept clean, my meals were updated to what the doctors recommended for me, and my requests were responded to in a timely fashion. Visitors were not allowed, so I really appreciated how friendly and caring the cleaners, food services staff and nurses were. I have also been here for multiple other tests and scans, and have been treated with nothing but care and respect, even in these trying times. read more

Overpriced and overrated. The best part of this hospital is that they have an expansive food court with lots of options. We had our daughter here and it was an okay experience but could have been better. The maternity class we did before having our baby was okay, but overpriced. I would recommend skipping it. Parking at this hospital is expensive. My wife went into labour during the night so we were at the hospital at 1:00am, and the overnight staff is one lady who did not have a very good bedside manor. So my wife was stuck on an uncomfortable bed with no drugs until staff started coming in for their shifts around 6:30. Then we were assigned to an actual room and my wife was able to get an epidural. My advice to moms out there is to not go into labour during the night... our hospitals aren't as well equipped as you'd think. After my wife gave birth at 10:35pm they whisked us off into a different room entirely around midnight instead of keeping us in the same room until the morning hours. I wasn't impressed by that. We were then kept there for extra days because our daughter was born early and she had jaundice. I appreciate the extra precaution but then we were told we could go home at 9:00pm 4-5 days later. After lugging all the stuff to the car, etc we got our daughter around midnight... tired and exhausted. But we were glad to leave because the room was very hot and there was no AC. We often had to keep the door to the room open to try to let in some cool air. The worst part of this hospital is their patient accounts though. We were told our private room was completely covered, which it was through both of our insurance coverage. And they said it would be all taken care of. A year later they come with a bill saying the one claim didn't go through. And an excuse that they don't want to stress out parents early on and wait a year to tell them? So now a year later I am trying to deal with an insurance company that I no longer have coverage with. LAZY AND PATHETIC effort from the people in their patient account department. How these people are still employed is beyond me. read more

I have had numerous experiences with Sunnybrook, the emergency Ward, Fracture Clinic, Dr. Kodama, and now my first experience with Dr. Wijeysundera and the Cardiac Critical Care Unit and every experience has been absolutely exemplary. I was brought in by ambulance after calling 911 in full cardiac arrest, quickly prepped and rushed right into the cath lab where an emergency radial angioplasty was performed, resolving a 100% blockage of my right cardiac artery and putting a 4 centimeter stent in place. From start to finish the whole process took under 30 minutes, I was awake the whole time, and back in my room before my family even arrived at the hospital to find out what happened. I was up and on my feet the next day, and discharged home the day after that, where my recovery has continued, without incident, for the past 2 weeks. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses who looked after me, especially Dr. H. Wijeysundera and nurse Emily, you all were amazing and I not only have you to thank for my life, but for making a very positive experience out of something that could have been traumatic and awful. I am a HUGE fan of Sunnybrook, Top Notch doctors, cutting-edge technology, impressively dedicated nursing staff, and truly one of the very best hospitals in all of Canada. read more

Sunnybrook is probably one of the largest and most modern hospitals I've ever been to, and definitely beats almost every single hospital I've ever stepped foot upon. Not just that, the employees are so nice! We arrived 10 minutes late for my grandma's PET scan appointment in the middle of the snowstorm earlier this week, and the lady actually was worried we wouldn't be there till 6pm! The male doing the operation for my grandma was also very professional, and spoke Cantonese to my grandma's delight (she doesn't know English). The whole operation was complete in about 90 mins; not bad! One star will be taken away for the poor job in plowing the parking lots and the overall pedestrian unfriendly environment walking from the lots to the buildings. Came here for my mom's appointment during COVID locked down. Their screening procedure was tight and followed necessary protocols. Staffs are friendly. It's a massive complex with multiple buildings and "Wings" so make sure you call ahead or research ahead where to go when you get here. Overall, a great hospital with excellent facilities. read more

I will say that Sunnybrook is generally an okay hospital. I don't have much experience with hospitals other than visiting people there. Other than my birth I've never had to stay in a hospital until July this year. Sunnybrook hospital is clean & well kept. In comparison North York General looks a little run down & is not as sanitary. Also the doctors, nurses, interns, & other staff were all nice & always checking on me. They explained what was happening every step of the way. My surgery was done very late at night on a Saturday & although I had to wait a long time for it I was glad to get it done. Though the day I was discharged I was really surprised that they didn't give me any after care information. They just told me to eat like I used to eat. That seems counter-intuitive to me because it was probably the way I was eating that got me into the hospital in the first place! Good -Arrived via ambulance & got me into an ER private room asap -Was seen by ER docs soon after I arrived -Ultrasound test done in timely manner & technician was kind -Doctors & nurses always checking on me & explained things to me clearly -Clean patient rooms & bathrooms Bad: -Moved from ER to C6 wing & no beds available when I arrived. -Left in the hallway on a gurney for 1.5 days & had to walk to patient bathroom across the hall with IV pole though in pain -Moved into a 2 bed room & other patient had colon bag. Room was often quite smelly because of that. -Doctor for my ERCP kept me waiting 1 hour in the procedure room. Not impressed. It was very cold on the gurney. -Day before being discharged, nurse in charge of paging nurses to the patient rooms when call button was used wasn't doing paging. My nurse scolded him & he started doing pages again. -Not being fed 4 days because my surgery kept getting bumped. -Fed on morning of my discharge & given foods with lactose although I'm lactose intollerant. I have been to Sunnybrook hospital on several occasions. Today I went to their sleep study clinic. I have been to several sleep study clinics over the years. This one was by far the best experience. The technician was well versed in what was being done. He went over and beyond what has happened in previous clinic visits. Several times during the night he woke me up to let me know we needed to change masks. He found one that worked well for me. This has never happened before. Typically most clinics have worked with my existing mask and sent me away telling me that I was not sleeping well and needed to get another mask. He told me exactly which one fit and would work specifically to me. I have not even gotten this detailed an information from the CPAP stores. The study clinic was manned by a technician who cared very much about what he did and was focused on details and Solutions. Highly recommended. read more

Over the years I've been in most of the hospitals in Toronto; this was my WORST hospital experience ever! Actually, that might be a bit unfair - Sunnybrook is not actually a hospital - it's a huge, badly-managed corporation. Most of the doctors and nurses were nice enough, except for Dr. Shadowitz, who was glib, condescending and a total jerk. The trouble is that the doctors are divided into teams, most of whom you never actually meet. When my family wanted to call and check on my progress, they got whichever member of my team had the pager that day, and, of course, it was someone who didn't know me from Adam. This was compounded by a total lack of communication - especially with the patient, who is left totally out of the loop, and I had to question the nurses about the various medications I was taking to find out that I was being given pills that worked directly against each other. Those kinds of stupid mistakes were the norm. I was dumbfounded that Sunnybrook has such a great reputation. When I recently had to go to emergency for a minor procedure, the paramedic told me they were taking me back to Sunnybrook. I refused, and they were able to get me in at Mt. Sinai. Never again will I put up with their incompetence. read more

Hello, This is Mariam, I am writing this email as i had a very bad experience as Sunnybrook recently when my father had an open heart surgery at the Schulic Heart center. What made my experience the worst is the terrible attitude we received from the ICU nurses ( Kimberly and Isabelle) who were the nurses supposedly taking care of my father at the ICU. I have personally witnessed Isabelle yelling at my father who was 2 hours after the open heart surgery in the ICU. he was on a lot of pain killers and was almost unconscious, she was yelling at him and treating him in a very rude and disrespectful way. When i asked her to speak more gently to him as he was in a lot of pain after the surgery, she yelled at me as well and was very rude. After leaving the ICU, and checking on my father the other day, he told me he was asking for her help and she hardly responded to him. The other incident that happened with Kimberly on Saturday April 20th in the ICU, was her having a very mean attitude with my father as well when he was in so much pain from the catheter. She was making fun of the fact that he was crying of pain from the catheter and when i kept asking for help, she asked me to get out of the ICU and did not even allow me to stay beside my poor father was crying from pain. She was making fun of him with someone else in the ICU and she ignored him all the night. Then when i called to ask about him at 4 am , she yelled at me on the phone and said things that were completely untrue. she said that my father was completely fine which was totally wrong as my father told me he was in so much pain and was calling on her but she was not even looking at him. read more

4 stars for the hospital itself. The staff are great, polite, and the hospital remains to be well furnished. The only star lost was for the poor parking area. Came here with my grandmother to see Dr. Klotz, with an appointment set for 2:00pm. Ended up not seeing the doctor until past 4:00pm. Despite the ridiculous 2 hour wait time with no updates or explanations as to what happened or why he was so "punctual", I caught him strolling down the aisle whilst chitchatting with another doctor. It really begs me to question why they take appointments to begin with. The whole idea of making an appointment and waiting 2 hours at the hospital is ludicrous. Needless to say I'm very very disappointed in his lack of professionalism. Unacceptable. Edit. Saw the doctor at 4:10pm in the end. But only met his assistant for about a brief 2 minutes. Still in the middle of COVID pandemic (August '21) some protocals are in place in the food court. Tables with single seating, signs on tables, floor etc. But not once did we observe any table cleaning in the 90 minutes we were there. Sunnybrook is probably one of the better hospitals in all of Canada. For the most part, it is very clean and well maintained in comparison to other hospital in the GTA, and the greater majority of the staff are polite and helpful (unfortunately a rarity in other Canadian hospitals from my personal experience). This is a great hospital to be referred to for a specialist/or therapy. One particular issue is that a lot of people seem to recognize this and wait times for most doctors are not exactly short (as far as 60days. Thank you Health Canada). Other issues with the hospital include its horizontal layout (it could take you a good 15 minutes to get from one side to the other), and the lack of food choices (stay away from the main cafeteria!) If you do live in the area where you would have Sunnybrook doctors as your family doctor, just keep in mind that you will be examined by residents who are supervised by more senior doctors and this could mean a minimal 'lasting' relationship with a doctor as the residents will change every year or so. Overall a preferred hospital when it comes to surgery, ER, or visiting a specialist, but beware of the wait times! read more

I have visited several hospitals within GTA over the years and Sunnybrook definitely stands out. Highlights: - Its sheer size. This place is 'uuuuuuge! - It's packed with volunteers and staff who are more that happy to help you out, especially when you need directions. - It's clean. (not a lot of that 'hospital smell') - It's got multiple cafeterias and Tim Horton's, Second Cup and a well-kept gift store. - There are large and visible signs everywhere - The main entrance has a modern and welcoming feel unlike any other hospital. - The hospital has all the capability to do all sort of tests in house which speeds up the process. - There's a hidden bar in the basement! (don't get too excited though... your only way into this extremely exclusive bar is via one of the resident veterans!) - It's packed with a lot of top notch clinicians/specialists. read more

Had a great experience at ER which was uncharacteristically quiet this morning. The triage nurse was prompt and courteous. At Registration Desk, Shanya (Spelling?) was great. The nurse in the Assessment Room who took the ECG and bloodwork was pleasant. Dr. Ivy Cheng who did the investigation was a thorough professional and all in all, an outstanding ER experience. WOW! Honestly, this hospital is amazing. I actually couldn't believe it was a hospital when I first entered. The main entrance lobby has the feel of a downtown corporate building. It had an amazing gift shop, pharmacy, top of the line cafeteria with frosted glass floors and dark wood. I was in awe. This place could not possibly be a hospital. Didn't smell like one, didn't look like one. That is until you get into the rooms and offices but that's just the way it has to be. All the 'wings' and different areas were SUPER easy to navigate, unlike SOME hospitals I've been to. The elevators were classy and made of glass so you could see down to the cafeteria, made me feel like Charlie... There were volunteers posted EVERYWHERE and if you had a question, more than likely they would know the answer right away. I was in the surgery waiting room and the volunteer there was soo good. Always reassuring and vocalizing and checking the recovery room to see if any of our family members had come out. Don't get me started on the food! It was great! They had Swiss Chalet! They also pizza and soups and 'on the go' sandwiches and what not. In the other food court they had Pizza Pizza, Teriyaki and whole myriad of things. This was DEFINITELY NOT "hospital" food at all. There was even a Tim Horton's! YUM! Another "yum" moment was the staff, since it is a teaching hospital there were tons of young interns and volunteers and what not. Even the surgeons and attendings and what not were young and bare a striking resemblance to some characters on E.R. There is construction going on for an expansion, so you know that once it's done, this place will be even better and more glamorous. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Abominable. The Odette Cancer Centre is a joke. Sick patients routinely kept waiting for hours until they weep with frustration. Icy, 90 second appointments in which death sentences are levied with the indifference of a meter maid. Even the reception leaves calls on hold for upwards of an hour. This place was not conceived with the patient experience in mind at all. There's not even a pop machine in the vicinity, should some wan soul become thirsty. Awful. Awful. Awful. Going to a hospital is rarely a good thing but if you need to go to the hospital, this is THE hospital you want to be at. Everybody who works there is very professional. The care is amazing. It's a large sprawling complex and even though parking is expensive, it's my go-to place for my health issues. While I hope to never have to go back, I feel that I would prefer to return here if I get sick again! read more

Some of my specialists at Women's College Hospital moved to Sunnybrook while Women's College finishes its multi phase update. I have been spoiled by the first phase of WCH because everything is brand new, so compared to Mt. Sinai, Sunnybrook is great. Sunnybrook is a huge campus like facility with different wings even within the main building so if it's your first time don't hesitate to ask the volunteers at the help desk for directions. The building in some sections are showing their age and the parking is always busy and full so if you can take transit, do it! It has a nice food court on the ground floor that has a Swiss Chalet, and I have even found a mini snack bar on the 6th floor, so lots of options, food wise. 2 buses come to Sunnybrook, the Bayview 11 from Davisville station and Lawrence 124 from Lawrence station, Lawrence gets you there faster. read more

I'll start with the positives. 1. The hospital was clean, and the washrooms were really nice. Very nice, for a public Toronto hospital, I'll give them one star just for that. Clean washrooms are a pillar of any establishment. Now for the negatives: This hospital is pathetic. I came in, because I had a blockage in my stomach, and heart trouble. I waited 9 hours, and got terrible service. They couldn't even give me juice or anything to nibble on, despite saying that they would. They didn't tell me what was going on, and they just kept making me wait. I was in agony. Finally, someone from a "Crisis Team" came to me, and wanted to talk to me. They all thought this illness I was experiencing was in my head, and they offered me "Lorazepam", which I graciously accepted. That is not why I'm here, but I'll take it. They thought that everything was in my head, and that it was just anxiety. They didn't even bother to look for anything. Why isn't the "Lorazepam" working? I want another one. The "Crisis guy", who was supposedly a psychiatrist, said that he was going to call my doctor (who also thought my condition was just in my head) and explain that the condition is not in my head, and a prescription benzo would be useful. I got another lorazepam and it still wasn't working after an hour, and these are the dissolving ones, supposedly. When my brother picked me up, I was agitated, and talking a mile a minute - just nonsense. When I got home, I realized that they DID NOT give me "lorazepam." I don't know what the hell they gave me, but I was awestruck at the EXTREME hallucinations I was having, which lasted until I fell asleep at 7 in the morning. They were actually pretty cool. No, I do not have schizophrenia and real lorazepam does NOT make people hallucinate. In conclusion, this hospital is short-staffed, poorly run, and over capacity. They obviously are not getting the correct medications (or the cheapest knock offs from india), because I was given an LSD-trippy drug, that was nothing like the medication I was supposed to be getting. Not good to get that stuff when you have heart trouble. I saw my family doctor the next day. Of course, the "Crisis guy" never called him, and that entire night was a waste of time. It turns out that I have gastroparesis - paralysis of the stomach, and was diagnosed by an official GI doctor. I knew this already. Any idiot with google can diagnose and treat. I did have a blockeage that needed to be removed, and I ended up suffering for months, until I was able to use naturopathic methods I found on google, and pass the blockage on my own. My final words of advice are this: DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE VERGE OF DEATH, HAVE A BROKEN BONE, OR SOMETHING SIMPLE THAT THEY CAN SEE RIGHT AWAY! USE GOOGLE, AND NATURAL REMEDIES. HELL EVEN IF I WERE DYING, THE SERVICE IS SO BAD, THAT I'M JUST GOING TO DIE IN MY APARTMENT NEXT TIME I GET REALLY SICK. NURSES AND DOCTORS IN MOST PLACES ARE BURNT OUT, BRAIN DEAD, AND ARE TAUGHT FAULTY, OUTDATED INFORMATION. read more

Had an angiogram done here last fall. Very caring and patient nursing staff. Efficient and pleasant processing as well. I can't rate the cardiology department on angioplasty, as it turned out I didn't need one, but the angiogram itself was efficiently performed and painless. The only criticism I have is that the nurses need to learn phlebotomy a bit better. They were looking for a vein to use for the IV (this is separate from the artery used for the angiogram - no one had trouble finding that) but had to have three nurses attempt to find one and then told me my veins were hard to find. Looks like Yelp has cut a deal with Sunnybrook Hospital to not show you the bad reviews. Instead they keep recommending old 4&5 Star reviews, some being 3-8 years old. More recent reviews do not get recommended by Yelp, that way, they do not lower the Star rating. The poor reviews are moved down to the very end of the page so you don't see them. The public is being censored and Yelp is manipulating reviews in order to give Sunnybrook a higher rating then they deserve. Look at bottom of this page to see all the reviews "not recommended" that Yelp does not want you to read. Those reviews are more recent and relevant. read more

The worst hospital I have ever experienced. I waited 2 years to see a specific Dr who not only blew me off but then left me in the hands of an ignorant and uneducated person. I was treated so badly and spoken to in a manner that left me in tears. I received no help at all. I was shocked at how completely ignorant this man was. Please be careful and DON'T ever allow yourself to be treated in a way you know is wrong. I was ready to give up hope after Sunnybrook, but I won't. No one should suffer as a result of ignorance. read more

I spend a lot of time as an outpatient at Sunnybrook because I have treatments every few months from one of their top urologists. I am happy to share his name for a referral to any Yelper who messages me. The urology & cystoscopy clinic at Sunnybrook is so busy that often every chair in the waiting room is filled and appointments including the treatment generally take 3 hours or more, so get a book or newspaper or magazine and get comfortable, IF you can find a seat. Like a lot of Sunnybrook clinics, this is in the basement so guess what, no signal on your smartphone till you get out to the main lobby. A little CP24 goes a long way when that's all you have to look at! You have been warned! So why am I giving it 3 stars? That's purely for the cafeteria, coffee shop, the pharmacy and the gift shop, ALL conveniently located on the main floor as you come in and NOT the basement like so many other hospitals that don't care how long you spend in the elevator, on the stairs or down endless corridors with stupid stripes painted down the middle so you don't get lost [but you will anyway and you'll get tired and forget where you are, long before you get there :( ] The quality of the food selections, coffee, tea and drinks are way above the norm for hospitals and I've been to a lot of hospitals in this city. My own local hospital, Humber River, is brand new but they have STILL stuck all these important facilities in the basement and their selection is still not as good as Sunnybrook's. Sunnybrook has a really fast efficient pharmacy right near the main entrance. Humber River doesn't. Now, the bad news. You knew there would be some, right?? It's the parking. The parking is a nightmare! It's been constantly under construction for years and years and still is. So you're constantly taking detours and being redirected and don't dream of parking anywhere near the main entrance or even on the same LEVEL as the main entrance, even if you or your passenger qualify for a disabled parking spot, which I do. I haven't told you the worst of it, either. You'll pay through the nose for that faraway parking spot and you may even have to take an elevator after your long walk from the car. Your only way to avoid the long walk is if you're the passenger and your driver drops you off at the entrance and then goes in endless circles till finding a parking spot. Sunnybrook is one of the most expensive hospitals to park at for more than 3 hours and I don't know how they justify soaking their outpatients and visitors like this. Their rates for that USED to be $23.00 maximum for 3 hours or more. That was bad enough. I was just in again for my treatment on July 5, 2017. Would you believe they've raised the parking rate to $26.00 daily? If Kathleen Wynne is reading this and thinking about capping hospital parking rates, she should start looking at Sunnybrook first. I'm on a disability pension due to the problem that brings me to Sunnybrook's finest and I resent being punished for being one of their regular clients by having to turn over a chunk of my pension every time I return here. If it weren't for their excellent cafeteria/coffee shop/pharmacy/gift shop layout & selections, & the excellence of their specialists, I'd probably be giving them one star due to their ridiculously expensive and inconvenient parking. read more

Hi Tracey H., I just read your review of C6 and experienced exactly the same post operation two weeks ago. Pre op, surgery and recovery room was very good, but that is where it ends. I was also placed on C6 in a ward room with another woman and a man. Shocked that they would mix male and female patients in the same room. Unfortunately, there wasn't a semi private nor private room available at the time. I also never slept due to excessive noise on the floor during the nights, constant disruptions and had issues with a dirty bathroom. I was frustrated to tears and asked to be discharged one day early so I could return to my clean and comfy home to properly recuperate. I am a lot younger than your mother, so can only imagine how she must of felt. Rest assured as I have the contact information for patient experience and will be forwarding a lengthy email of my experience with suggested recommendations. I want to make sure that it is indeed improved for future. The only way the situation will improve is if patients communicate their experience. I hope your mother is doing well! read more
