We enjoy checking out improv shows wherever we travel but this one was the most chaotic and least funny one we have ever seen. They needed to give an intro before each activity because sometimes we had no idea what was happening until half way through the act. Sometimes the prompts didn't connect and sometimes the pacing was slow. The red wine was chilled and tasted stale. The seats were very uncomfortable. The $30 ticket price was astronomical for the show that was delivered. We were very disappointed. read more

Went to the improv show on Saturday night. I found it very funny. The improvisors are funny and seem to love what they are doing. There were three shows, and you can pay $30 for all three or pay $20 for one. The first one started at 7:30 pm. Each show lasted about 50 minutes. I especially loved the improv games and would have liked to see more, but it was still very laugh out loud funny and all manifested on the spot by audience suggestion. The theater was small and cozy with a limited amount of seats. Before and between the shows, they sell snacks and drinks. There is free parking. We went on a Saturday night after a great dinner and had high hopes for a fun improv evening based on other reviews. This was so bad it was not even funny. At all. Like at all. The performers seemed to enjoy the performance more than the audience. It was definitely NOT improv. They asked the audience for words or objects and then went on and on in non-funny, self-pleasuring monologues that were more puzzling than funny or even clever. Suffice it to say, do not waste your money or an evening. The venue itself was comfortable and would have made for a good performance space had there been a good performance to be had. read more

Very expensive - $30 a ticket for a disappointing show. I don't think I've ever walked out of a comedy or improv show before, especially after spending $60 for a date night, but this was pretty awful. This was my second time trying this venue. The first time wasn't amazing, but there were some funny sketches so we thought we'd give it another try. Similar to our first experience, there weren't many audience members, the theater wasn't even half full on a Friday night. Haven't been to an improve IN probably 25 yrs. Did not know what to expect. Well, they were great. Had a wonderful time with my wife. They were spot on, flowed like a wave on the ocean. They definitely clicked, like they have been doing it for years. The comedians were of all different age groups and they host a slew of improv classes as well so if you ever thought of becoming an improver This is the place to hone your skills. I've participated in classes and attended many shows, and I'm thrilled they're able to start performing in their theater again. My husband and I enjoyed the show here a few times and decided to sign up for IMPROV classes. Truth be told the first few classes he was dragging me out of the house BUT by the 3rd class I was hooked. Once I got over the hump of being OK with not knowing what I was doing something opened up for me and that was the connection and support of the group. IMPROV has helped me be more present with my husband and my clients in a whole new way. IMPROV helped me BE okay with failing and looking like a fool (P.S. everyone's a fool at times). IMPROV helped me BE in THIS exact moment IMPROV helped me BE a curious AND listen IMPROV helped me let go AND trust those around me (P.S. we found a better answer together than we could alone) In the words of Simon Sinek "A culture is strong when people work WITH each other for each other. A culture is weak when people work against each other for themselves." This is what IMPROV does actually. Yup I drank the cool-aide and it's delish! Looking forward to learning more and BEing a better version of me. Had a wonderful experience. The puppies are so entertaining and creative. I went with zero expectations and was more than pleasantly surprised. These folks are seriously talented. It's a small theatre with folding chairs so don't freak out. But they are professional and very accommodating. It's a great way to spend an evening beyond the usual movie or bar. This is exactly what Delray needs! The Doghouse theater offers a fresh, talented, and funny group of performers who really are trying to give the locals something different. Not every set was even, but that's to be expected for any improv group. The theater is a perfect venue; it's intimate, great visibility for every seat, and the $5 drinks are a great perk. It's also appreciated that there's onsite parking, which is almost impossible to find downtown. It just opened, so I expect more great things to come! read more

Went to see the Sick Puppies during my annual December trip to Florida. Several members of the company were very funny and did a great job at making the audience laugh. Becky, 1 of the 2 girls in the show, was excellent! She was very funny in the opening bit on shmear at the local bagel place and in the following skit where she awkwardly met her boyfriend's parents for the first time. Eddie was the male standout comedian. He had several funny bits including his stint as a doctor. I thought the whole show continued to get better throughout the night with the last few scenes being some of the funniest! Overall, it was a good time and a good value. I'd highly recommend for a good 90 minutes of laughter! read more

For Christmas 2015, my wife gifted me the Sick Puppies Level 1 improv class. Since then, I've continued with the classes and am currently participating in Level 4. Each level has offered a different instructor, and while they all have their own style, energy, attentiveness and commitment, they are all fantastic. I highly recommend these classes for those who have always wanted to try improv, those who are looking to improve their communication skills, or those looking for a weekly creative outlet. My wife and I found this venue during our vacation in Florida. We went on a saturday night, and we weren't sure about this venue (since it was held in 3rd floor of an office building) but decided to stick around(which we stayed until the very end of the show to see the entire show instead of judging it early without seeing the whole thing through). We noticed that most of the audience were either friends of cast members or students at this improve venue. I have to admit that I was fairly impressed by some of these cast members' creativity in their "improv" skills. But as an overall "comedy" show, I did not find it as "funny" as it should have been for your money's worth. I can see the crew's effort but the comedy itself was quite lacking the quality of the content and almost felt like they were trying too hard to be "funny" by their vulgar content or language. I have been to plenty of other comedy shows that were funny without having to use a vulgar content or language. Keep it classy folks. If you do see other reviews that are similar to mine then I am not the only one who walked out of this venue with the thoughts I described above. I think the current 4.5 stars rating is misleading for this "comedy" show. Go somewhere else for your money's worth. read more

I recently enrolled in the improv classes and the first day I could tell this place was something special. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and supportive. Admittedly, we are improv addicts! We would actually drive round trip (4-5 hours) to Orlando just to see the shows known as the SAK Comedy Lab. So happy to see this very show only 25 min. away! Came in here with a large group last night and had a blast! The place was a little tricky to find in the dark/rain but we made it! The place had some snacks and drinks for sale... Didn't see any beer or wine for sale. The setup inside was really cool with chair seating. It was a large enough seating arrangement that you could really see the show from anywhere. The cast last night was really great and kept us really entertained. It was a really fun night out. The best part is that every show is different so it can never get old! First show I went to was in February and I've been hooked ever since. The Sick Puppies have an amazing cast that always do their best, and their best is darned funny. Started taking classes a few months ago and it's been so much fun that I can't stop learning more about improv itself as an artform. Their motto is "Yes and" to everything and it really resonates with how they run classes, shows, and even how they treat people. I've seen sick puppies a couple times on yelp, but never went until tonight. I simply searched for "things to do" near coral springs and fort lauderdale, and this was one with a great rating. It was 7:50p, so I clicked to see if there's an off chance something was happening late tonight, and sure enough they had a an event going on at 9:00p. I clicked on the map and it was about 30 minutes from home, score! I did a couple of minutes of research to see what it was about, and it all sounded pretty entertaining! We made the quick drive, circled the plaza since we couldn't find it immediately, and bam, we found it with 10 minutes to spare. We had no idea what to expect. We guessed "It's a college class, that's what, about 25 kids? If it's graduation that means probably 4 family members per kid, so 100 people?" We were wrong. It appears it's just a comedy class, not anything to do with college but I may be wrong. There were about 10 student comedians, and about 30 guests, a perfect amount with only about 10 or 20 spare seats in the crowd. Everyone from the actors, to the guy running the show (possibly the teacher?), to the decor to the guests ourselves were well behaved, and good vibed. I felt like every person there was like-able and probably cool to hang out with. Super talented crew for only being there for 7 weeks. They were very professional and goofy if that makes sense and I can picture a few of them moving on to be famous actors or comedians one day. Best of all, it's free?! Whaaa? We would've easily paid 10 or 25 per ticket to go, but being free is just another reason for "Woohoo! As good as it gets! I'll definitely be back for a show whether it's free or not. Very glad I went. Thanks for the entertainment, and best of luck to the company and the students! Congrats on passing stage 1! read more

So glad John Duffy brought the cast down from Boca to grace the stage of the Abyss theatre in Wilton Manors which is a becoming a great venue for a lot more to come! Parking may look slim from road but there are lots all around the area to park and easily walk and if living in Wilton Manors, a very easy walk or very cheap cab ride or bus stop is close as well! It's been a long time since I"ve seen some really consistently great improv. An improv show is a great date night idea, it's cheap, hilarious, fun and different everytime. The sick puppies are right in mizner park so there are a ton of options for things to do both before and after, so make a night of it.
