I am giving this store 1 star but would give 0 star if I could. I took my 3 teenagers to the Keys…read moreand Key West while visiting my in-laws in Fort Lauderdale. We live in L.A. and have not been there since 2006. On the drive back, I really wanted to stop in Islamorada to buy a coral bracelet. My husband had passed away 3 years earlier and a coral bracelet he had given me back in 1996 from Islamorada broke the day after his death for some reason. I had it for 23 years! So the only place I remembered was the spiny lobster we visited in 1996. I now realize it had a different location back then. We all went inside this gift shop 15 minutes before closing time. I spotted a coral bracelet, not exactly what I wanted, but I purchased it. Then we walked out. The owner, a older man with a gruffly & condescending attitude, came outside and directly accused my 15 year old daughter of theft. He said he saw with his own eyes that she tried to take a pair of sunglasses without paying but she put it back. He was indignant and said he caught her and that we should apologize. I told him he was mistaken and that she must of made an honest mistake (I did not see this happen at all and neither did her brothers). He insisted he saw it. So I did apologize because he was so adamant about it. In the car, my daughter said she thought those sunglasses were hers. She had bought the exact pair in Key West and she thought she brought them in the gift shop with her. Then she realized she left them in the car. They were in the car. This asshole had me apologize when I knew she didn't do it and he was mistaken. What utter lack of tact and unprofessionalism. He didn't even give her the benefit of the doubt. I was a paying customer and my daughter did not walk out of the store with the sunglasses. But he had to come out to berate us. Totally ruined that coral bracelet for me. I plan to ship it back.
