I don't know how many times I've passed this place. It's small -- on the right hand side of the road heading south. The word "marine" signals boats -- and I'm not much of a boat person (although I did spend a summer as a teenager learning to sail off the coast of Maine -- but that's another story). So a used boats parts store didn't appeal, until I focused on the "thrift" part of the name and read they have more than boat stuff. What you'll notice first when you pull in are all the fishing rods outside. They have cute kiddie ones with protective ends; they have inexpensive lightweight ones -- and they start at only $5. There are many more inside too, along with related stuff including hooks and lures. These would be a good gift for a beginning fisherman or a vacation rod for the keys visitor who didn't bring his own. And yes, the shop mainly has boat stuff -- deck cleaners; dock equipment; scuba gear; life vests; buoys; parts that I didn't know what they were -- all in several smaller adjoining rooms and nooks. In addition, they have some used bric a brac; some touristy items, too. Looking for an alligator head? Some starfish and shells? Maybe suntan lotion or a bathing suit? How about a pool float? Then there's the jewelry of assorted types and some gift items that are new or newish. There's decorative/home things too. Cute store, packed to the brim. If you need: a cooler, flippers, a snorkel mask, or a pool float, this is the place to come. I picked up some snorkel masks for my kids. They were used and five dollars, so I figure we can just give them away after our vacation is over. Some items weren't in the best shape (wetsuits with holes in them), so double-check your items before you decide on them. read more

I live in KY and discovered this little thrift store years ago when we camped at John Pennekamp State Park right across the street. Now, anytime I'm even remotely in the area, we make a trip down to see what treasures the shop holds. This last visit, we had just gotten off a Carnival cruise ship in Miami and rented car for the day to run to Key Largo for lunch at Alabama Jacks and a stop in the thrift store. I always love wandering through the rooms and seeing the tmrw dim stuff they have. I was specifically hoping to find some heavy duty scuba hangers or other dive equipment and it was my lucky day! We picked up 24 lbs of scuba diving weights, weight belt, and a brand new pair of dive gloves all for $50. If you find yourself in or around the Keys, be sure to stop in. "The customer is always right", correct? Well, not at this place! I was very disappointed after spending plenty of time during the past couple of years supporting this business to find that apparently they have now completely lost their minds! My husband and I are furnishing an entire condo in a beachy, FL Keys style - and I thought this place would be perfect for our needs. But, upon walking in, my husband heard the woman employee single him out - she actually had the gall to say "Watch this" to her coworkers and the few people who were in the store. She then proceeded to walk up to my husband, pull down her mask, and tell him that masks are "still" required in the store - in condescending style. When he explained that he did not have one and would just take his business elsewhere, she followed him out of the store with her cell phone camera, attempting to harass and bully him into compliance, or at least embarrassment. She made sure to get his license plate and make of car. For what purpose, I do not know, as it is illegal to mandate masks in the state of Florida. I won't be spending my money in this store until they follow FL law and cease the ridiculous political pandering to the worthless mask. Bullying, harassment and discrimination are not acceptable. read more

Complete trash; half of the store is broken boat parts and the other half is broken tourist beach crap. The older woman behind the counter is so rude and unhelpful. We asked her about a broken glass figurine and she was nothing but nasty to us.
