I love this store. It's right next to Boichick Bagels. Every time I go I get a pair of earrings. Most of them are made in Indonesia, Thailand or India. They are way better than any earrings you'd get at Macy's or somewhere like that. Prices are good. read more

Enticed by a rack of colorful & cute clothing outside the door, we walked in and were immediately drawn to the jewelry. THE sweetest lady behind the counter was warm and made me feel like spending some dollars here on fun stuff was a pleasure. 5 adorable rings later (2 gorgeous wood, 3 smooth black stone stacking skinnies) and I was only out $25+tax. I really dislike shopping. I have to psych myself up for days before I finally do it. Since I'm spending the holidays with most of my family (to include my significant other (j), mother, 2 brothers, sister in law, 2 nieces, 1 nephew), I decided bite the bullet and shop early (yes, this is early for me). I hit the mother lode. OMG. I was in the store for less than 30 minutes and I bought gifts for most everyone. For my nieces, aged 3 & 5: fairy tutu's, one red, one green (with gossamer wings in the back) and flowered barrettes. For the adults: fingerless gloves that are thickly knitted and with soft lining on the inside. Also bought an adorable teddy bear hat. The owner, Jay, waited on me herself. She is so friendly and helpful. At first I was going to buy a Medium in the fairy dresses but then she told me it was better to get a Large for my nieces' age. She opened up a new box of dresses and got on her knees and dug through all the wrapped dresses in order to find the color/size I wanted. Jay also wrapped all my purchases in tissue paper and offered boxes as well. The total bill came out to $144.87 = gifts for SIX people. Jay also dropped a "thank you" gift of 2 candles shaped like flowers and some beaded bracelets for my nieces. The free parking lot next door is nice, so no parking hassle. It was a pleasure shopping at Siamese Dream. Glad that I spent my money here rather than Target or Walmart. Oh and there are some black boots (suede/fur) that are on sale that I may return to buy... There is a colorful collection of rain boots as well. read more

Right next to Noah's Bagel, There is this hippyish little store with crazy mannequins that has a julia robert's wide mouthed laugh. This store definitely has its own identity, although I have to say that 99% of the dresses look better on the mannequin than when tried on. For some reason, they just don't fit right. A lot of women are drawn into the store because from far away it looks like you could potentially find something pretty there but up close the material of the clothes aren't that great. However, they do have cute knick knacks that are fit into the category of ethno chic. The sales person is also always very friendly, even if you're just browsing around for way too long. read more

The sidewalk display of filmy floral dresses outside Siamese Dream lured me in. Dresses were marked twenty percent off on account of Thai New Year. I figured this might be a great place to get cheap Spring/Summer dresses to run errands in. The salesgirl resembled any college co-ed. She wore her hair in a top knot, no makeup and a Tulane sweatshirt with jeans. The salesgirl's image clashed with both the merchandise and the store's Orient inspired decor. She should have worn one of the many dresses found in the store, even if a dress from last year. The salesgirl seemed more interested in making personal phone calls than showing me what this store has to offer. I talked myself out of THREE dresses while the salesgirl dished her latest family drama over her mobile. It was such a turn off. I contemplated leaving the store. I felt that put off by this salesgirl. I really liked the black dress I had chosen. I put everything else back and approached the counter. The salesgirl put her caller on hold. She made zero eye contact. She mentioned accessories (hats and scarves) were also on sale. So what? The salesgirl never showed me any of these sale items. I had a black dress for purchase. She could have suggested a pair of gold tone hoops or a bangle bracelet to accessorize with the dress. She could have shown me a nice sandal. She didn't go that extra mile to make a full sale. I left completely unsatisfied. read more

But seriously the most terrifying mannequins I've ever seen outside of a horror movie. The kind of things that would eat your face off or stab you to death with a butcher knife. If the cloths were just a little more affordable, I'd give it 5 stars (I'm used to thrift store shopping). As an example of their price range, I'd say a pair of pants could cost about $60. I love this place, and have shopped there numerous times. I love their shawl-wraps and have a few of them. They have original cloths, and if you like the hippie look, you have come to the right place. The lady who works here has been for for at least a few years I think. Worth a one-time-only browse-through if you are in the neighborhood and you aren't looking for anything in particular. They have dresses, skirts, tops, shoes, accessories and a few gift items which all resemble what you'd find at Cost Plus and Pier One, but at two to three times the price. i ordered 3 satin jewelry rolls from their online store (www.siamese-dream.com) to be used as gifts for my bridesmaids. i was really excited about the gifts, as they looked beautiful online - the pattern was in silk thread and really nice and the color matched the wedding colors perfectly in this gorgeous royal blue. when they arrived, however, the pattern was completely different from the pattern online and i really didn't like it. i contacted them and they said that it wouldn't be a problem to return them, they would even send me a package with postage-paid so that i could easily return them. i thought - great, now maybe i'll still order those rain boots i wanted from their website. because some of their stuff is really cute, it just so happened that i didn't like the pattern that they sent. it was butterflies - and of course there's nothing wrong with butterflies, but i just feel like it made it more appropriate for the flower girl than the bridesmaids - and beyond that, it wasn't what i had ordered. however, that was now a month ago and i have since written them two emails saying i never received the box to return them in and i have gotten no response from them since that first email. i am very disappointed. read more

The owner has blatantly copied multiple ORIGINAL DESIGNS AND PATTERNS from numerous independent designers in this community, produces them in Thailand and calls them her own by putting her label on them. Think twice before you start purchasing from a store that lacks integrity and class. This is very disappointing to me, as I would hope that leaders in this community would choose to foster healthy relationships built on high levels of integrity, as opposed to breaking it down and taking advantage of others creativity and hard work for the sake of making a buck. This store is so cute I go often just to see what they have that is new. I usually pick up inexpensive presents for family members or clothes for myself. I just bought a sundress there last week and went in just to look today. As for the quality I've always been satisfied, although, I once bought a pair of knitted mittens there that unraveled and I brought them back after about a week and the woman at the desk was really nice and offered to give me my money back, but I really wanted those mittens so they fixed them for me and called me when they were done which was within the week. So, I definitely recommend this store. Its unique, and there are so many beautiful things there that are different than what everyone else has and special. read more

Siamese Dream is one of my favorite shops. It is in my neighborhood, so I pass it often. I always check out the window display and sales rack always on display outside the store. If I am just window shopping or looking to buy, I always get good service. I have bought several pieces of clothing and jewelry. I have gotten compliments on some of those pieces. My experience with this store has always been a positive one. If you are looking for unique clothing with amazing quality, this is the place. There are many different brands to choose from and a wide variety of clothing. She seems to choose companies who make eco-friendly clothing using sustainable practices. They also offer to make any alterations, such as hemming or taking something in, for free, if the piece you are looking at does not fit properly. They have done this for me several times and I am very grateful for that. They also sell unique bags, purses, scarves, jewelry, and other accessories. If you are a fashion snob, not the place for you. If you are looking for an independent clothing boutique with personal service this a good stop. My wife is not a big fan of the stuff found at Target, Macy's, JCP, Kohl's,Forever 21, A&F, etc. Jay gave my wife excellent attention to help her to find a couple of skirts. She is a very positiver person and I appreciate it is a family owned business. The store is small, so it is a little tight getting around in some spots, but it also adds to that personal experience unlike some of large chain clothing stores. Yes, the clothing is what some Americans would might call hippy style, but I think of the clothing as colorful and with a range of lovely patterns/designs. More along the lines of Asian or Indian designs. If you have to follow corporate designed fashion trends, stick to Macy's. If you are open minded and appreciate personal service, this store gave my wife that experience, so I would say check it out. read more

The stuff they have is really unique. I normally don't like dresses and unusual clothes which is what they mostly carry but this store is a fun store that I can easily spend browsing around. They have very cute gift items. The place smell like incense but not too strong like most places that carry incense. The price is high but I often get discount, all of the people there are helpful. This store is a little hidden gem with good quality unique clothes and accessories. Brands like Buddhaful (made in Seattle) and others that are local to the west coast as well as hip imports. Bought some really cool items for my 15 year old daughter and myself. Good size range, tiny to large. Prices are moderate -- so don't expect Target prices. But quality is much better. read more

The store has a wide variety of apparel, jewelry, purses/wallets/bags, hats, other accessories, and gifts for all ages. I live in Berkeley, and it's so hard not to go into the store and buy something every single time I go to Safeway! All of my favorite things are from Siamese Dream - my rain boots with fish on them, my one-of-a-kind leather purse, my necklaces, dresses and tops, hats for sun and cold, even some fabulous arm warmers. I get compliments all the time on my purchases from this store! Plus, the owner is very friendly and helpful, and makes it a point to remember her customers and make great recommendations.
