What a find. This nice little restaurant excels in everything it does: outstanding homemade tortilla chips; tasty salsa, and delicious entrees. The chimichanga was stuffed full of shredded chicken (or beef if you choose). It was very lightly fried to make it crusty but not overly crisp. The red and green sauces are both excellent with just the right amount of spice to make them flavorful and savory. The chile rellenos were made with Hatch chiles and were outstanding. The accompanying rice and beans deserve accolades as well. Additionally, the service was top notch. And finally, the complmentary sopapillas were a true taste treat. Deming is a cute little town but I was still surprised at how good the food and service were at Si Senior. We were driving through and selected this restaurant for lunch based on the reviews. We were not disappointed. The chips were fresh and unusually crisp and light- I think they were flour based rather than corn. My husband had a taco salad and I had 3 chicken tacos (came with beans and rice) - all really good and flavorful. Then the surprise- sopapillas with honey for desert was included. The chips served are absolutely the worst ever, thick tough and very hard to eat with little or no flavor. The sauce is OK but not outstanding. I have dined here several times. I do not understand the good reviews by locals but I think they are used to the uncommonly common level of Mexican food in Deming. Today I had the Combo #1, it was plenty of food but nothing outstanding but just OK. I ate there because my friend wanted to eat there (they did not eat Mexican). Really great salsa! I got a combo platter (pro tip: they let you substitute items, I tossed the tamale and got a gordita) and the highlights were the gordita, and the meat with green chiles. The crispy taco is always such a throw away item on Mexican combo meals, so I almost skipped it, but it was awesome! They fry the shells in house so they aren't brittle. Stopped by on our way through town. The place was packed with the lunch rush. A pleasant old building was filled with locals and teens waiting for lunch. The wait staff was fast and efficient and had drinks and our orders taken in a few minute. The table had chips and salsa waiting. The chips were fresh and good but a bit on the thick side for my taste but I ate my fair share. I ordered chicken stuffed sopapilla with the green chili sauce on the side. I can't do hot stuff so I never take a chance. The sauce had just the right amount of heat and pleasant chili taste for me. If you like hot I bet the red sauce would be best for you. I was a bit concerned when I walked up and looked in the window and saw all old white folks inside (the best Mexican/Central American food has customers from there eating there).
