S is for Shwarma's King (part 2 of 2 for S): DENIED WATER is an automatic grounds for 1 or maybe 2-stars. Originally, my girlfriend & I were going to eat at the Cook Out further north up US 17 Business on Labor Day Monday, 9/2/24. But it started heavily raining, and it was only to go at this Cook Out; the one I went to before was dine-in, so that threw us for a loop. We would've had to wait outside in the pouring rain to order and then eat in the car, which I had no interest in doing. We were ultimately meeting up with friends down on the boardwalk south of 8th Ave N. We had parked on Broadway and thought about eating over there, but nothing stood out. We walked to Ocean Blvd, there were a couple of places that were to go or just wasn't feeling. Shwarma's King looked promising and coincidentally that's where some friends already were. So, we settled on that. My biggest pet peeve with restaurants is no courtesy cup of water for paying customer of food. Water should be given no questions asked. You order at the counter. I will say the owner was very nice. And we were desperate since I don't normally do food purchases from a business who refuses water. My g/f went ahead and paid since I froze when we talked about the no water cup, and she bought water. I will also say that the Schwarma wrap was great. It was too bad he denied courtesy cup of water, which should be a given with the meal because I think I would've given this 5-stars instead of 2-stars considering the friendly owner & great food. read more

Nice and ambient place and authentic Lebanese shawarma and falafel. Owner is kind and friendly and was helpful regarding using metered parking on street versus expensive parking lots. We had meat shawarma and it hit the spot. We also couldn't resist the falafel and we ordered a falafel plate. It was good. Will visit again. read more

We walked in and were immediately greeted by the chef at the front. We placed our order and then went to our table. The restaurant was very clean. Really, everything was spotless. Our food came out soon after. I got a chicken shawarma, which was delicious. The chicken was well seasoned and the salad inside the sandwich was delicious. The restaurant also had Fairuz playing in the background, which made the place feel like home. You really can't go wrong here. The food is great, the employees are nice, and the restaurant is clean. I'm so so glad we tried this place! We tried to go late night but it had already closed. So we had it for "brunch" the next day before heading home. We packed up and left our car at our hotel lot and walked over, saving the money for parking most people complained about. When we walked in it was very spacious with only one older man making stuffed grape leaves. I was hoping they'd be done before we left but he still had to cook them. We opted for the beef shawarma platter and split it! It was huge!! So flavorful and very filling. If you love to try new foods like we do, definitely give this place a try and split things so you can try more ;) read more

It looked closed. Very friendly Lebanese man working said they're open. He even put some Fairoz on the speaker for us. We had different sandwiches and fries. Cooked fresh and tasted good. Parking around the corner is 20.70 per hour! I would come back if we planned a day at the strip. Not just for food. The restaurant was clean but do drab. There's nothing anywhere to indicate it was a restaurant except the two lone shawarma roasters. No food exposed or even scent of food. read more

Let me start by saying, the food was very good- however, the service was a horrible. I saw the Shawarma King on my drive in and said "YES" because who doesn't love a good shwarma sandwich. When it was time for lunch, I got off the beach to go there and as I walked in I asked the worker if I could use the bathroom before I order. He said no, I told him I only came in to eat lunch here- he said I had to order first. Despite this rudeness, I ordered my lunch and used the restroom. The restroom said "out of service" to prevent people from using it, despite the fact that they hand you a key to use it. Finally I had my shwarma given to me and it was delicious.I then asked if I could have a cup of tap water and he refused me, despite the fountain soda machine with cups being right next to him. I asked for napkins and he gave me 1. I told him I was eating in, and he simply gave me the wrap, no plate, no tray, just the food. If you want a good meal with atrocious service, go here. We went in around lunch time on a Sunday; it was cool and quiet with lots of seating and space. We were the only ones in there at the time and what I assume was the owner was the the only one behind he counter. He was busy making to go orders, but he knocked out our order quickly. the prices were good and honestly this is great beach food. Quick and not heavy or greasy. The pita is thin and he grills it so it gets a little crispy. I had the falafel which was the perfect consistency and not dry at all. Where to start? So parking is possible nearby, but you have to pay. The place is on one of the main streets and because it was late and almost the only place open, we gave it a try. It is huge inside and looks tidy and clean. Both of the toilets was out of service. But the manager opened them up, and Voila they were working fine. In addition the manager kept. saying everything was great and recommended everything. Even though I told him we are on the upper league when it comes to Mediterranean food, but he kept on going. So we, a bit reluctant, ordered beef shawarma plate, fattoush salad, battate harrare, Falafel plate and shish tawook. I know, it's like ordering butter chicken at an Indian restaurant, so no deviation and riding on a wild side in regards to choices. But then again, the menu weren't that much, and it would have been Impossible to go out of the mainstream line. Anyway, the food wasn't that all much. Falafel was a bit dry, and hummus tasted like it was made some time ago. No garlic no virgin oil hint. The beef shawarma was also dried out and had to go down with the garlic sauce, which was actually good. Salad had too much vinegar and salt and fattoush weren't crunchy at all. Nor was the usual ingredients in it either. The shish tawook also dried out and we had to ask for pita bread, but got Liba bread instead. You already know were this is heading. The portion was small and bill was high. Paid 85 ish dollar.... So the one star is for the cleanliness and the attentiveness. My daughter had shawarma when she was in Canada so when we saw this place we had to try it. When we first walked in we were greeted by the owner I believe. The place looked nice and clean. Meats were cooking. I ordered 1 chicken and one beef . While talking to the owner and telling him how my daughter had one when visiting Canada he asked where. To make a long story short he shared with us one he opened back in 1996 in Ottawa and gave the address , just so happened to be the one my daughter ate at. What are the chances. The man was so nice and the food was really good. I definitely would recommend this place. They had other Mediterranean options such as falafel, and hummus along with more. We got there shortly after they opened so it was just us and the owner. He was super friendly and very attentive. The food was so flavorful and delicious. Their homemade garlic sauce was the best I've had. The ambiance is underwhelming but it doesn't even matter because the food and owner made this experience great. We placed a to-go order at 1020 and they closed at 10:30. Despite this fact, the food was hot, made fresh, and delicious and they were very welcoming, immediately assuring us that they were still open and asking what we'd like. I don't know how the food tastes BEFORE 8:00PM... but I can tell you our 8:10PM order was so bad we couldn't even eat most of it. The chicken swarma was BLAND at best- the "beef/lamb" was SOOO "seasoned" with Cinnamon that it could not be eaten. The pickled accouterments in the wraps and the hummus, will leave you with that "Lemon face" feeling and expression!! The King's Swarma is certainly not fit for a king! How bad was it? Two people ate flavored chips to get the taste out of their mouths, one person ate ice cream to kill the taste- and all of us knew that what we just experienced was nothing short of horrible. We went here because had never tried shwarma before. The chicken shwarma was amazing, but the beef swarma was unbelievably good. We came back a couple days later and got the falafel and that was also fantastic. The owner is also super nice and will help you figure out what to get and what types of sauces and condiments to put on it. I will be coming back here if I come back to Myrtle Beach. read more
