And a stay at the Running Y Ranch in Klamath Falls was on my agenda. Thanks to careful Southwest Point Shuttle schedule planning, I was able to get to visit all these scenic places. I also took the Shuttle back to Medford Airport. They ran pretty much on time, had friendly drivers (Jennice was very nice) but beware: bathroom breaks are very quick & rushed for the most part so lay off the hooch or water until you get to where you're going. Now the Point runs several different routes in Oregon: a Cascade route; an Eastern route; a High Desert route; a Northwest (Portland) route and this Southwest route which I rode. Kudos to the state of Oregon for partially funding this enterprise to help people get around. In fact, the Oregon Department of Transportation in June 2014 made sure Klamath Falls residents could get down to Medford Airport once air passenger service from Klamath Falls ended. The Oregon DOT reminded Klamath Falls residents looking to fly out of Medford, that there is a stress-free way to get to the Medford Airport and back via South West POINT shuttle. In just a little under 2 hours, you can get come down the mountain to (and from) Klamath to the Medford Airport and back. The Shuttle also goes to the Klamath Falls Amtrak station where you can pick up the Pacific Starlight train. Once May tourist season arrives, the shuttle has a bus that runs up to Crater Lake and back. I would have loved to have done that. According to the POINT website, "this route's 22- and 24-passenger buses have free Wi-Fi, power outlets, air conditioning, space for your luggage and bicycle, and are wheelchair accessible." Tickets are sold online or by Amtrak and Greyhound. The website says the drivers do not sell tickets but they do. I recommend giving the POINT a try: I met many locals who ride it all the time. When I visit someplace scenic, I like to let someone else do the driving, so I can drink in the beauty and majesty that is all around me.

The drivers are awesome extremely helpful to new bus riders, once you learn the schedule it's easy travelin. The cost is reasonable, too. We are fortunate to have the service in some locations. They purchased several new bus' and I really like the wide aisles for loading groceries on board and it's much easier to navigate a wheelchair, safer too! That being said I do have some issues with their priority of funds, safety should always be first. I contacted Stage management about the poor lighting around the bus stop shelter in Mt Shasta's shopping center, near Ray's market. The same bus shelter has an over abundance of snow in winter, piled up to several feet on the sidewalk making it impossible to navigate a wheelchair underneath the shelter. This is one of many locations with real safety issues and some of their drivers have reported the problems. Stage management informed me, they are doing their best with limited funds. Safety should be a priority above spending limited funds in areas that may not bring any revenue. They have expanded their hours to include a Saturday run. I was told that our public transportation operates at a loss, the short explanation not enough ridership to pay the operational costs including an additional day of riders. How do they justify the costly burden of an additional run but can't make our bus stop shelters safer for the disabled.

By six o'clock, they canceled the service for the day my bus would have. depart at 825 they sent me a lovely email saying how they were going to give me a free trip or a refund which I think is funny. Because, I already paid for the original trip, nothing is free!!! i contacted customer service and explained that I already booked my hotel had my ride all set up customer service barely speaks english. She didn't even understand me and had explained that I could rebook online. I rebooked for sunday now without a hotel room to go to. sitting here in medford oregon now once again three hours delayed. This trip has cost me $400 dollars and two days and i'm still sitting at the pickup location honestly would have been better off renting a car.

Medford Greyhound is a new location that opened in 08, and is at the Rogue Valley Transportation District's Front Street Station. It's useful and well located and specific to Greyhound, and I've come through here twice now, when I was touring up and down the West Coast on a 2 month Greyhound pass. What a great experience it was and this was one of the little towns I remember, with a decent station that is shiny and new and fit for purpose.

Many complaints filed, however no one in the company responded. Th! ey have treated me like I did not exist. It was unfortunate, as I have used the same company many times before. As a single mom, having to pay a cab in excess of two hundred to get me to the airport on time was more than I could afford, but had to pay it regardless. My job requires travel. I had to pay a fee for a late flight b/c the cab could not drop everything to take me right that minute. Serious issues are arising now b/c of the money I had to dip into. Shame on this company. Yes literally - you will catch your bus outside the grocery store. I've done it enough times to know how it goes. My ex (sort of) open relationshippy type girl lives here and I came here on the bus a couple times as a youngun. I guess there are worse and much less safe places to catch a bus, but it's a shame that this is the best you'll get to see - just a big chain store and nothing special - when you come to gorgeous lush Ashland. I think they would be better off having the buses go from downtown or something but that's the way it goes.
