Needless to say, I was worried about damage that would occur as a result of removing the shutters. SHUTTER UP SHUTTERS - I wanted new shutters for my recent home purchase and did a search online for a local business. I wasn't happy with the two previous businesses I used for my prior home. I came across Shutter Up Shutters and contacted Michael for an in-home estimate. He showed up promptly and prepared with samples. After discussing with Michael what I wanted, the more traditional looking shutter with the mid-level split and plain framing for a couple of the windows, but wanted a different look for the front facing bedroom window. Michael wasn't familiar with this design but immediately took the necessary steps to ensure that the design could be made, measurements and material used. Six weeks later - I have never been more pleased with a product, the installation, pricing and the overall care in handling my request. The special order is the picture with the solid panel on the bottom for the front facing bedroom. The window was large enough to accommodate this style - the other windows in my home couldn't accommodate this. It provides semi-privacy while allowing light to filter in on the top. I was so happy with this design I called Michael back out to measure and discuss doing the same design for my patio slider window. Again, I am so happy I did. The finished look is absolutely beautiful. All I kept saying was WOW! The shutters bypass each other so you can open the slider. The privacy panel on the bottom almost makes the shutter look more like a door instead of a shutter and still allows for light to filter through the top. I have been trying to get shutters installed in my house for a couple of years now. I did a few in home estimate from bigger companies that had advertising with 50% off regular pricing. They all quote it me several thousands more than what Shutter Up Shutter quoted me for. At first I thought maybe they are using better material than Shutter Up Shutter that is why the price is much higher than them. When Michael came for estimate and brought me the material he was using it was the same as the other guys. It was Bassett wood. But Michael gave a hint to calculate the cost for my own shutters. He told me how to measure and what the cost per square feet should be. I asked other companies and no one could tell me what the cost per square feet of their shutters is. They all said the calculations had to be done by their sales people and there did not quote per square feet and it would be per window. I decided to go with Shutter Up Shutter they estimated the shutters be ready between 6 to 8 weeks. I had my shutters installed this past weekend and it was the 5th week from the time we ordered them.
