Not only is Nicole incredibly skilled with her camera and use of natural and ambient lighting (even on a sort of gray, finicky day like ours was), but she's really gifted with working with cats (and I'm sure dogs, too). We did some of the portraits inside at home, and some outside in the garden near our house. Our cat, Cleo is seldom impressed by conventional toys or noisemakers but Nicole seemed to know exactly how to get him to look interested and cooperate - plus her magical cat toys must've had kitty crack on them -- Cleo loved them way better than anything we've ever gotten him. Also, it's worth saying that Nicole's method was very relaxed and flexible. She never forced Cleo into doing this or that - she let Cleo sort of lead the way, resulting in zero tension despite the unusual circumstances (from Cleo's perspective). Cleo is notoriously un-photogenic, given that he has black fur and always seems to hate it when I point my phone or camera at him. This is one of the reasons I felt it worth it to hire a pro. Cleo is almost 14 years old as I write this review - he's still really active and fun, but he's not getting any younger. I'm so glad I finally bit the bullet and hired Nicole for Cleo's pet portrait. It was worth every cent and she was such a pleasure to work with. I really like her personality and style, and especially the beautiful photos I ended up with. I am ever grateful for her service.

It's that good ... I recently hired Nicole to shoot portraits of my wife and pets (two dogs, Kaya and Shonee) and have to say that I am MORE than impressed with the results. Just last night I was reviewing the digital images when one of the photos really touched me. No exaggeration, my eyes were welling up with tears! There is something so special about her perspective, something so sublime about her style, that there aren't enough adjectives available to properly describe it. Beautiful. Powerful. Captivating. Expressive. Smooth. Engaging. Emotional. Exciting. Playful. Contemplative. Serene. Intriguing. Perceptive. Like the ingredients of a gourmet dish, all of these apply in different proportions, depending on the subject and the scene. I have never been a big fan of framing portraits and mounting them on the wall in my home, but this time, I'm already thinking about which images to get printed and how to frame them. So glad that we found Krista and Ruff Adventures! After meeting Krista at our shared vet we decided…read moreto have her take our 14 year old, Ella, out for an "Honor" photo session. My husband and I have 4 dogs (that we spoil like they are our children) and we instantly felt comfortable sending our elderly dog (along with some props) with Krista for the morning. A few hours later Krista returned our extremely happy Ella after visiting downtown Austin, the green belt and wildflower fields. A few hours later, Krista gave us a sneak peak of some of the unedited photos. As soon as we saw how talented she is we asked her to book us to take more pics of our other dogs. Today Krista dropped off Ella's hardback book, and wow!!!! She truly captured her young-at-heart spirit. I'm not sure how she got so much energy and variety of facial expression in one morning from our girl, but I could not be happier with the quality of the pictures and the book! For our second session we asked Krista to take pictures of our two American Bulldogs at our house. Taking pictures of these two children is no simple task... One is a 17 month old female, 95lbs and in heat....and the other is 22 month old male and 85lbs... We got to watch Krista in action with our pups and she truly is some kind of dog-whisperer! We can't wait to see the results! Extremely professional, high quality pictures, high quality ( and not flimsy) photo book, well worth the money. Thrilled that we found Krista and we HIGHLY recommend her to fellow dog lovers!!!

My dog is friendly senior dog and I consider him a bolter (not so good off leash)but she was able to take him out and get him to obey her commands which resulted in AMAZING photos!!! They were gone for the entire morning and when he came back he was a happy camper. It's like taking your dog to doggy daycare and getting great pictures in return that'll last a life time. If you are wanting to have great memories captured of your dog then look no further. Krista is THE ONE! I would trust her with my dog in a heartbeat and my dog is like my child. Thank you for the awesome photos!!

Working with KHP and her all-star team is not just a professional photography session but an experience that allows you to feel good about yourself and have that self shine in a way that feels completely authentic to you. I've had the pleasure of working with Olympia twice now -- once when I needed professionally styled headshots quite quickly for an upcoming feature/publication and once for a lifestyle shoot. To say that their product is top notch is an understatement -- no detail goes unthought of...from styling, hair and makeup, lighting, vision...and it all comes together with this fun, carefree, beautiful experience, working in their studio (and having fun as well) that makes this team worth every penny. They make it feel effortless. They also manage to compress entire sessions and selection process into short time span (though you wont feel rushed) ...genuinely, the work they do in terms of studio time would take most an entire day. While I'm sometimes guilty of gatekeeping treasured finds in austin, it just wouldnt be fair to not shout out praises for Olympia and Korey Howell Photography. Thank you for letting me share the best me!

Korey did my headshot update back in 2018 and I was thrilled with the results (see previous…read morereview.) A few months back, I logged into a Zoom call and noticed that my awesome headshots from that session didn't really look like me at all anymore. In this post-Covid lockdown world, as we might be tip-toeing slowly and carefully back to the world of in-person meetings and conferences, using an old headshot felt like a little bit of "bait and switch!" Let's face it, hair is longer, skin is still fabulous, but...I'm OLDER. Still awesome, still sassy, but I needed an update. This time I worked with the fabulous Olympia Roll (and again, why on earth would you make this investment without the professional makeup add-on specifically for the photographer?) who "got me" from the first minute. One thing I especially love is the super light touch on touchups and post-processing. These pictures look like me, not an air-brushed, over-filtered, a little too pose-y overly contrived version of me. Now I need to either write a book or run for office (or both! ha!) because she gave me photos that make me look and feel like a BOSS. Thank you!
