Lincoln was just out to my place. I've never had shutters repaired but I know good work when I see it. Guys like him are few and far between and I would be surprised if there's someone that can do what he does in the valley. We have a dog that ate the rods both sides on our backyard doors. We decided to wait to have those repaired as we are selling the house and fear the dog will do it again. I just felt like it was a bait and switch on pricing. I got a quote over the phone that it would be around $85 to replace a few staples. Lincoln was at my house for about 30 minutes and yet charged $135 to just replace like 5 staples. My advice is just figure out how to do it yourself, it's basically a pair of pliers and some wood glue. It's more of a handyman type job. That rate would be fine for a skilled trade, but not this. Also felt like communication was really poor, not good about returning calls and scheduling. read more

Highly recommend. The Shutter Doctor was able to fix the sliding shutter that came off the track. He then tightened and adjusted the remaining panels so they will slide smoothly and not fall off. He secured the magnetic catch that had come unglued. No one else would even look at the shutters, but now they are working as good as new. read more

Shutter "DOCTOR" is an accurate name for Lincoln's business, as he uncovered a (good) "diagnosis" we didn't think existed and did the right "surgery" that made the repairs way easier. We have plantation shutters everywhere in the house and a bunch were loose so the slats wouldn't stay in position; there were NO VISIBLE TENSIONING SCREWS on any of our shutters, so when I scheduled the call Lincoln figured he'd have to install the plastic C-shaped nylon washers to tighten things up. When he inspected the first shutter he wondered if in fact there WERE TENSIONERS that were well hidden and painted to look invisible. We decided he would try drilling for one and--bingo!--there it was. He tightened it up, then went around to the rest and did likewise. Now we're all set if any loosen in the future. STAY AWAY from this guy!!! I called several shutter repair businessed in the Valley to obtain estimates for repainting and replacement of several "pins." Well, of the four I contacted, Lincoln from Shutter Doctor was the only one who refused to give me an in-home estimate unless I pay him $85 for "home visit" plus pin repair cost. He would give me the repainting estimate only if he came to make the repair. Well, that repair I can do myself, and I don't need to pay him! It's the repainting that is too time consuming. All the other businesses scheduled an in-home visit to see the shutters and give me a free estimate. So I just told this guy I was not interested, thanked him and hung up.
