My fiance and I have only tried some of their desserts. This is not a review of their drinks, but after being let down multiple times then I do not think we will be coming back anytime soon to try any of their drinks. I came in with a chocolate chip cookie craving, they didn't have just regular chocolate chip but I got their version of a chocolate chip cookie. My fiance is a HUGE cinnamon roll person, his all time favorite dessert. So anytime there is an opportunity to get him a cinnamon roll, I get him one. So I went home with the cinnamon roll and cookie. The cookie was alright, not the best and unfortunately the cinnamon roll was a pretty big let down as well. We went back a second time, got two flavors of mini cup cakes, two cake pops and my favorite dessert is tiramisu so get got a slice of that as well. The tiramisu was the hit of the second haul, but unfortunately I would call it mid. The cake, not worth the calories. Since the cake pops are two bites each, we did finish those. However, we didn't even eat the whole mini cupcakes. Their decor is so cute and I wanted to like this place so bad, but from what we have had so far, I am in no rush to go back to try anything else on the menu. Stumbled upon this place after doing my Trader Joe's haul AND they have vegan and gluten free treats! Parking was easy peasy though it's a tad tricky to see since it's not on the main street...but the side of the shopping center. It's a large space with a pretty large lounge area if you want to hang out. The girl working there was super friendly and helpful walking us through their vegan specific options since they also have non vegan options. Now to the real score- I got a lavender cupcake and lemon blueberry tart and both were amazing!! Usually vegan treats taste a bit off..but not these. There's not a lot of places in the local area that can accommodate for both vegan and gluten allergies, but this place can. I was able to order specialty cupcakes for my niece, and I was so impressed with the store and packaging and most importantly the taste of the product. I picked up a cinnamon roll to go and when I brought it home and heated it up for a few seconds, I tasted the best cinnamon roll I've had in my life. Finally made it back after such a long time! I grabbed some cupcakes for a clients work event, and had perfectly enough for my five clients plus me to celebrate a 70th birthday. A client last minute added in. First, you know the cupcakes LOOK good when the gluten free lady decides to take a cupcake... and is upset she got the last one so she didn't get a choice. (Also meant I didn't get one!!) everyone gobbled their cupcakes. When my SO and I finally got to our destination, he shared his cupcake with me. I got him the strawberry and cream. I had no idea how good the insides were until this past week. I placed an order for takeout on Yelp after having a tough day. Because any bad day can be fixed with a sweet treat. I found Shugar Shack thru the "too good to go" app, I reserved my "surprise bag" and came to pick it up. When I first arrived, I wasn't greeted (ok no big deal the worker was helping someone else already) I even considered leaving at one point but I thought to myself I already paid for my order so I just told myself to wait to get it. So I started to browse their selection. Then I realized it was gonna take a while bc the customer had bought a few things plus drinks so while the worker was making the drinks and preparing her order I went to use the restroom. When I got out, the worker was still helping the customer (at this point still no acknowledgment) okay whatever still no big deal bc she's busy. Then when the customer left, it was my turn and I told the worker I was there for my surprise bag. She then prepares my bag and hands it to me. I went home and saw I got 4 cupcakes for $6 (before taxes). Unfortunately the two cupcakes with the little cake sponge on top were dry. However the two in the back (vanilla) were really good. We paid $11 for keurig tasting coffee watered down with lavender (1/10). My fiancé got ube matcha latte (4/10). We both didn't taste the lavender in my drink or the ube in his drink. When we did the taste test in front of the barista, she mentioned they don't use espresso to make the lattes. She could tell we didn't like it, but also didn't really offer alternatives. Our girls had such a fun week at Shugar Shack's bakery camp in Huntington Beach. Since the class takes place inside a working bakery, they not only created some amazing desserts but also got to watch the bakers in action and see how they connected with customers. One of the best tips they picked up? Pouring heavy cream over brioche cinnamon rolls before baking. It was decadent and delicious. I'd never been to Shugar Shack before, but it's a hidden gem tucked inside the Huntington Harbor Trader Joe's center. Before we left, we had their tiramisu, which was delightful. Was going to Red Table and Trader Joes and noticed this bakery. After we finished grocery shopping my wife and I stopped in to check it out. My wife who can't eat sugar was happily surprised they had a fairly large selection of sugar free cupcakes and cookies. They can also custom make cakes sugar free. Employee was super nice and happy to answer any questions. As a sugar eating glutton I got two cupcakes and a cookie. I went with chocolate Nutella cupcake since the employee said it was his favorite, a strawberry and cream cupcake, and a decorated for Easter sugar cookie. My wife got a sugar free carrot cake cupcake, another sugar free I don't recall the flavor, and some sugar free cookies. Prices were on the high side but they had nice artistry and the take-out packaging was great to keep the cupcakes intact while you drove home. One thing I really liked is the desserts were not overly sweet. Some places overkill the sweetness factor to the point you feel sick after eating them. Here it's much lighter. Everything tasted fresh and we both enjoyed our treats. The sugar cookie was awesome and reminded me of those cookie basket cookies from years ago. Overall we both agreed these were not our favorite cupcakes of all time but the fact they had sugar free means we'll definitely be back. Ordered a birthday cake for my boyfriend's 30th & I told the owner that he's particular with chocolate (he's from Belgium) & that I'm not sure what flavor to choose.
