Even though there is street parking, you have to get arrive early to get a parking spot. There was a nice security at the door to assist you inside. I was lucky to find a park right in front of the place. I walked inside and was amaze by the decor and ambience. Nice music, seating area and bar to order your drinks. The service was good. Now here is where this review lost stars. The Food. Very pricey and mediocre. I ordered the supposedly Super Nacho Platter for $18.00 which I paid more with the tax. My food arrived in a black syform container with lack of meat, cold and tasteless. A lady sitting across from me order the chicken wing platter for $32.00 which she ended up paying around $40.00. Very disappointing to pay this much for a few wings and fries. I don't mind supporting neighborhood businesses. Now we are paying more for the ambience than the food and drinks.

I had no idea that DJ Khalid had opened a spot on the Chicago landscape, as The Licking is one of his restaurants. Not bad and a nice addition to Austin since it's not the usual fish hut, rib joint, or chicken shack. I arrived early enough to have the restaurant to myself. For an appetizer, I ordered the chicken roll that came with a sweet chili sauce. High marks. They didn't try to go gourmet or spectacular, just sent rolls to the table that tasted delicious. For my main meal, I ordered fried red snapper with collards and sweet potatoes. I appreciate the red snapper being meaty and having only a light crust. I used some more of the sweet chili sauce or dipping, which was a good option. The greens were flavorful and without any salt meat, ham hock, or smoked turkey. Often restaurants serve bland greens if they don't use hock or turkey. That was not the case here. The sweet potatoes were a nice add-on that they didn't mess up. Having eaten too much, I had a slice of caramel cake for takeaway. It was from someone who baked the desserts of premises. I can't ding the restaurant for the cake needing to be warmed up to moisten it, but I will pass on it next time around. The woman working the front of the house was cool. Made good recommendations and also spoke at length about some other good restaurants in the Austin area. Like many restaurants I've gone to lately, I will have to go back later to try a few other items on the menu.

I had just left the gym and I was looking for something to eat, a quick Google search found this Shark's Chicken. I went in, ordered my food, and waited. The place was really clean and everything was pretty much new because they just open. I got my food home, about 18 minutes later, and I was blown away. This chicken and fries were still hot, had the perfect amount of lemon pepper seasoning on them, and was still crispy and good. (Make sure you open the bag while you drive home so that you don't steam your food). I typically go to the Sharks on Cumberland, but I don't think I'm going there anymore unless they step up to the level of this Shark's. This might be our new "go to" Shark's. I like to wait a few days before I write a review just to make sure everything is all good but today I could not wait. I'm still eating and I'm writing this review right now. My parents are big wine drinkers and my dad was especially impressed with the wine list and the selection available. Oscar was an incredible server!! He struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still letting us enjoy a relaxed, unhurried evening. The support staff and food runners were also fantastic and very friendly, making the entire service experience feel polished! I also loved the kitchen was more open which gives you confidence in the quality and care that goes into the food. At first glance, it seemed like they didn't add enough alfredo sauce, but it was at the bottom of the container. The fries were crispy, and the salmon was perfectly seasoned. The alfredo sauce was delicious as well. On the menu it says that it comes with chives, but it came with spinach. This did not bother me, but I just wanted others to be aware. I would recommend this place. I also tried the strawberry lemonade, and I loved it.
